Ah it's very prevalent in the UK too and not a whole lot is done about it. Incorrect spacing, tinted plates, 4D style etc etc

Even in the States driving with "expired tags" or no plate at all seems fairly common

Conforming Conor and Straightlaced Sarah can stick to their standard plates, and anyone else wishing something of their own choosing is free to accept and face the consequences 🙏

You'd swear this was the over 40s forum some days.

Except, as had been stated, the consequences aren't just on the person with the bad plates. Simple example (yet again) - I was rear ended a few years ago and the lad drove off. He had normal plates so it was easy to read them, call them out and get guy caught. If he had had dodgy plates may not have been possible…

Exactly...The live and let live /free choice people posting here would completely miss that basic need for maximum legibility on registration plates.

Enforcing some road traffic legislation is difficult eg. phone use, watching video, but reg plates should be easy to detect and enforce. Now they (AGS) can do so, let's see how effective a deterrent it is.

They don’t bother with lots of rules. But I’d rather their time is spent enforcing important ones until there’s enough capacity to nitpick registration plates.
