    I want more Megadeth.

Will never get to see full Megadeth show since they're retiring soon. So it goes

Seen a few lads in Palestinian flag T-shirts and there was a flag waving at the start but it went away. Most people aren't doing anything like that I can see

Disturbed just leaving me a bit cold TBH. Can't tell if its because I'm fucked tired after work but the fact that I'm **** posting on boards in the bar should say a lot.

Some folks are having a great time. Me mate is. I amnt any more

I'm just sitting here pinting with the show as a background vibe.

EDIT: the second half was better.

Megadeth were amazing. Loved it. Wished for more, so so much.

Disturbed… well i stuck around. The exodus didnt happen at all, it was a big and interactive crowd though i must say ive no interst in them at all. Few good tunes. Bailed after sound of silence and hope all good.

Hardly any megadeth merch so wasnt happy with that!

Tis was a gig I'm happy is over not for the music but the negativity surrounding it. The amount of **** (including myself talking absolute bollocks at times) talked about how we're all 'going to walk out when he comes on' and 'how you need to look at yourself in the mirror for supporting him' etc

Its all over after 4 hours and thankfully nobody is injured/dead. People we're respectful enough. The only thing that could be dying is this website and hopefully it won't be anytime soon

It was a good night, as the saying goes 'nobody died' and if I offended anyone I apologise (I was having a bad day)

Roll on the Megadeth Farewell Tour and Disturbed 'Believe Celebration' tour

Let's start off with the queue, brilliant, the staff and security at the Point had it perfect last night. Those who got there early got in first as it should be. The staff in the Academy should take note coz the Primordial gig on Saturday was a shitshow of a queue.
Megadeth, strange them as support but excellent. Dave's voice was holding up nicely.
First time seeing Disturbed and I was really impressed, the sound for once in the Point was really really good. Great stage and belters of tunes. Thoroughly enjoyed the whole night.

There was no mass walkout? 😂 Christ on a bike, folks really are full of hot air.

Glad to hear it was a good gig at least. What was the intermission bit about?

Well your hope was in vain. Was a great gig. Megadeath was good and Disturbed were excellent. Didn't see any protestors outside. Heard a Palestinian flag was waved at the beginning but it was quickly pulled down. I did hear a couple say to their mates they were walking out after hearing Sickness which I thought was funny. Their mates just said ok bye.

Ye that's a real shame. Hoped people had more of a conscience.

    I'm not surprised.

I say this as a fan of the stuff: It's mainstream, high up the bill, patch jacket heavy metal. About as politically apathetic and don't-give-me-too-much-to-think-about as it gets.

The older bands tend to mostly be deeply conservative, the younger fans tend to be thoroughly decent, open minded people and in between every seems to go 'LALALALALA!' and compromise enough to make the escapism work.

Not casting a value judgement on it one way or another. I personally think it would have been just desserts had Disturbed played to an empty arena. But it is what it is. I've been going to metal festivals for years and they're full of some of the soundest humans ever who are happy to headbang to some of the unsoundest humans ever.

Anyone know what happened in Block K

Some guy got thrown out but few mins later came back

Lads, it sounded liked PissTurbed played the same song 9 times...

They played Shout by Tears for Fears and Land of Confusion by Genesis , along with a karaoke version of Sound of Silence ...

    Wtaf !!!

2 costume changes , an electric chair , fake blood , prancing, posturing and then pontificating ( he was like a bald bono).... 'sampling' ( backing track??),

It was like a Meat Loaf concert , (but with a savage guitar sound..)

For me , it was a terrible gig , and couldnt wait for it to be over.....

I’d be hoping we get a headlining Megadeth concert to close them out. I’ve never seen them live but would deffo attend. Would have seen all Big 4 then too

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 432 ✭✭sabrewulf

Looks like Megadeth have this obsession with playing bigger venues, regardless if that means they only get a support slot. I think I have seen them now three times opening for a "main act" I didn't care about at all. Last time I saw them headlining was during their 2005 tour… Amazing gigs: Cologne (rarity highlight: "Problem Child [AC/DC cover]" and "Paranoid") and Stuttgart (rarity highlight: "Rattlehead").

Extremely annoying to pay more money for shorter sets! They really need to headline for their farewell tour.

reality is they are in the no man lands though out Europe. Can’t headline arenas and too expensive/popular to play theatres across europe

I saw them do 18 songs last summer. We will get a full 90 - 100 minute headline set on the proper farewell tour, presumably with a stacked support bill like last time they headlined the 3 arena.

Was a bit disappointed we didnt get Emerald this time around, it was amazing to hear last time they played here

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 222 ✭✭Level 5 Vegan

Cold Sweat maybe? It's Mastodon who do the Emerald cover if I remember correctly

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,182 ✭✭✭xpletiv

Absolutely right. Damn… mixing up bands… getting old :D Good problem to have though cause i must have seen mastodon play it then. Saw Megadeth do Cold Sweat
