Good man for doing it …. Fold it up as small as you can and stick it down the front of your jocks - you'll get it in no hassle.

When I was looking at the Sabbath stream a while back I noticed Draiman got a frosty reception when he guested in one of put together groups. so I can imagine more of the same at this gig.

If you want to get into it, you got to get out of it. (Hawkwind 1982)

Megadeth is one of the reasons the gig is selling decently but tbf the tour so far seems to be doing well so far stateside

Just want to go to this gig for the 'music'

Its gonna be a mess. Those that dont leave after megadeth will have to ensure a lot of the crowd giving Disturbed guff. I pity anyone who is actually there for Disturbed.

I don’t really get the politicising of this. Bringing Palestine flags or booing Draiman isn’t going to make the slightest difference to what is happening in Palestine/Israel. It’s just going to disrupt people who are there for the music and a good night out.
Unless he starts a Bono style pro-Israel monologue (in which case he’s fair game), people should either stay away, leave after Megadeth or STFU!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,412 ✭✭✭✭greenspurs

Because he signed a fcuking bomb !??

A bomb that could be used to blow up Palestinian people in Gaza.

You think he should get a free pass?

I suppose you think what is happening Mo Chara of Kneeecap is correct?

    I know what he did.
But not much point in people disrupting a concert to make some sort of statement, it achieves nothing. He ultimately has his money in his back pocket either way.

People should vote with their feet and not attend or perhaps promoters shouldn’t book them.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,559 ✭✭✭Rocket_GD

It's called a protest, as you say they've already got the money, may as well make it as miserable as possible for them.

Any people who are there for the music and a good night out should be ashamed of themselves if they're there to enjoy that genocide supporting príck.

People can be a fan of Disturbed and still be utterly appalled at what is going on in Gaza.

Indeed, I get people being angry at Draiman's horrible actions but ultimately all these protestors are going to do is ruin the night for people who have paid to see a band play.

Protest at embassies, protest in the streets - don't protest at events people have paid money to attend.

If you really want to protest this gig, the best thing you can do is protest it by not going.

It's actually a bit laughable to pay for something and protest it - you've literally contributed to the success of the event and giving money to Draiman by paying and attending.

Next time he's in Israel signing bombs you can thank yourself for contributing to his plane ticket.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,412 ✭✭✭✭greenspurs

    Why?

Would draiman miss people that aren't there , cos they are protesting by not going ?!?! ..

" let's organise a protest by not going...."

    🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️

These people need to look themselves in the mirror as they're fans of somebody who has actively supported what is going on in Gaza.

You could not buy a ticket and stand outside the venue and protest. It's not really that difficult to understand.

By buying a ticket you're supporting the act. Don't buy a ticket if you don't want to support the band.

If you already bought a ticket, well done, you're now supporting someone who signs bombs that are sent to Gaza.

I don’t think liking a band should implicitly mean that you agree with their politics, or indeed any beliefs or motivations they have.

It’d be like saying you can’t like Kid Rock’s music anymore cause he’s a huge Trump supporter and you hate Trump.

Or that you can’t watch WWE wrestling anymore for similar reasons because Triple H was in the Oval Office a few weeks ago.

Or can’t watch golf anymore because Bryson DeChambeau played golf with him a few times

And so on. Lots of celebrities/musicians/sports people have idealisms that we might not agree with, shouldn’t mean we can’t enjoy their craft.

No way! I don't want to support a band that signs bombs sent to Gaza.

Which is unfortunate as I quite like Megadeth.

There are many many MANY reasons why you can't like Kid Rock's music…….😀

I think changing your opinion a band who's lead singer signed a missile that was going to be used on Gaza is hardly a wild take.

Different people have different levels of being able to separate the art from the artist.

I know people who still listen to Lostprophets believe it or not.

Personally I still listen to Marilyn Manson and Jimmy Urine's output but my wife will always tell me to switch it off when she's in the room.

Disturbed is a difficult one as it's such a current issue with what's going on in Gaza. I never liked them myself but if I did, I definitely couldn't listen to them after that bomb thing. Can't speak for everyone though.

I don’t think i said it’s a weird take. You’d be quite entitled to if you want.

But by the same token i don’t think people who enjoy their music should be deemed genocide supporters by association.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,559 ✭✭✭Rocket_GD

I get that, I just though that most people would draw the line at someone who supports genocide, apparently not though.

I hope the place is flooded with Palestine flags and he's booed relentlessly, that it's as miserable experience as possible for him.

I never said these people were genocide supporters for liking Disturbed, it's the singer who is a genocide supporter. I just feel that anyone who is going to enjoy them need to re-evaluate their opinions.

    I will be going...

I am going to see Megadeth .

I might wait for Disturbed to come on , and walk out then , as I think that's what people should do.

I get the "yee paid money to see a genocide supporting twit" point ...

People that are in the same position , we should all walk out when they come on...

Then there's no "ruining it for those that want to see disturbed" , but there's a point still being made ...

However futile, or pointless it is ....

I don't meant to be 'that guy', but Dave Mustaine has Jewish ancestry on his mam's side has been known to be Pro Israel too. Might not be signing bombs but I don't think he'll take too kindly to people waving flags too.

    From 2014:

    https://www.jpost.com/arts-and-culture/music/proving-its-mettle-369390

“Anyone who doesn’t come to Israel now is a coward,” Mustaine told Mako TV just after the outbreak of the current battle between Israel and Hamas. And in an interview a few days earlier with The Jerusalem Post, he expressed his support and affection for the country, where Megadeth has performed three times prior to their scheduled show on August 6 at the Tel Aviv Exhibition Grounds.'

Ask all the band members he has fired !!!

Anyway , regardless of all the hubbub, I cant wait to see them.

Saw them in the Point in 91 for the first time..

And I have Nick Menzas drum stick...

He also said in the same intervies.

“I don’t get caught up in the politics because it’s a very complex situation. If you don’t follow the history closely of both sides, their inspiration for their actions and how they developed their beliefs, then it’s really hard to figure out. I just come over there, shake my hair, play my music and try to make people happy and love them as much as I can.

He was raised as a Jehovah witness which he despised. Having recently read his biography I get the feeling that he doesnt support any religion at all after his childhood with the Jehovah witnesses. These Israel comments could be to drum up ticket sales!!!!

Saw them in the Point in 91 for the first time..

1988 here and Ive seen them almost every time theyve played.

I wont be going to this one as I dont want that Zionist prick getting one cent of my money.

I hope Megadeth tour next year and include Ireland for their farewell tour of 2026.
