It's the 2nd time this month I've bought a watch I've previously owned.
That steel shroud made it impossible to pass up.
I showed the better half the 1st photo and she laughed in my face at the fact she recognised it as one I'd owned before 🤷‍♂️

If you decide to move it on again give me a shout. Was going to offer my SRPB49 Samurai as a trade but you got there first!

I did the same couple of years ago. Wife won’t let me sell it again.

Would love to get my IWC back or buy another one the same.

You're the 1st on the list if/when I fall out with it.

It arrived this morning, well packed and exactly as described.
As the consensus on @H_Lime maintains, a thoroughly decent chap and 1 I'd happily recommend to anyone as a seller/trader.

I was expecting to see your latest Airking for sale on that link! You go through watches at a serious rate

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 60,097 ✭✭✭✭unkel

Haha, you want me to put it up? I have been very easy on watch buying and selling this year. I only own 3 watches. My Doxa 800ti, the vintage Rolex and the Airking I bought last week. Which is the reason I put the vintage one up for sale. I don't really need 2 dressy Rolex watches…

    Please don’t , I’m on a watch buying hiatus for a while .

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 60,097 ✭✭✭✭unkel

Let it go. Resisting is futile & life is too short 😁

Buy the watch you want, as long as you sell along the way as well to make some financial room (if you have to. I do!)

To put things into context: he has been my best mate for well over 40 years. I never give him any presents, not for his birthday, not for anything. Nor did I give him anything for letting me and my family use his high end holiday time share, that he wasn't using up himself, several times over the last few years

Spotted the Longines for a decent price, knew that was exactly his style (he normally doesn't even wear a watch), so I just bought it. Hope he likes it 😂

If he doesn't, it will be up in this thread sometime next month 😂

Ah listen - I hear you. I bought my best mate of a quarter century a wee Timex Marlin recently because he’d mentioned his Dad had something similar for years. He doesn’t wear a watch normally but has put it on when dressing up for a wedding, etc. He was quite touched at the gesture.

Least I could give him for putting up with my nonsense for decades!!!!

But that’s a class watch you chose - no doubt he’ll be hugely appreciative!!

dis some similar for my mate. But it was a set of Bose headphones for when we were going abroad golfing and other holidays.

is there a new rule on C24 that sellers won’t even bother their arse answering a question?
Are they so pretentious that they just expect you to buy and not query anything?

Whatever platform you go to, you will have always sellers like that. How long are you waiting for a reply? Care to share the link?

I was looking to buy IWC Le Petit Prince..

It’s a great price, and would easily buy , but Just asked a question 03/10, quick follow up yesterday.

Surely any kind of acknowledgement would be expected?

Not communicating at all would immediately make me anxious..

Was the same on a Pelagos last month, no response then suddenly sold..

Maybe people have money to burn where they don’t ask anything and just buy it now.

Bit the bullet and put my Explorer 16570 up on Adverts. Better price here, obviously. It is a stunning watch. (Excellent photos courtesy of Homer.)

    Beautiful watch and GLWS.
I'm going to list/relist a couple of mine and should they sell?
    I may chance a bid.

That or have a weekend of proper full on coke & hookers like the good old days 🤣🤣

    Hi folks,

Thinking of selling my Seiko spb237..it hasn't gotten any wrist time in about 3 months. It's a complete set, was serviced by John at vintage watch repair earlier this year. I had a look on chrono24 and there's actually none for sale. I had a look at watch charts and it's priced around 1k. I've also the genuine Seiko bracelet for it which cost a few quid, a number of uncle Seiko rubber straps, grey, black and green and a Seiko rubber strap which was expensive as well.

I went to list on chrono24 and it was suggesting a list price of 1k sterling which to be honest kinda surprised me. That wouldn't even include any of the extra straps. I didnt expect it to be in such demand

Since service it's running within a couple of seconds a day.

I might be way over priced but I'm thinking 1k euro would be a fair price for it all locally. I'll probably throw up a adverts add over the next few days and get some better pictures.

    Thanks

    Mick

    Very long shot, but…

    Wanted!

    Vacheron Constantin Overseas gen 2

Preferably F2F, I am based in Dublin but willing to travel to the UK or mainland Europe

Prefer white, but will consider blue. MUST be on the bracelet and must have all links, bonus if there is an extra link as my wrist is 7.5-8". Must be gen 2, no interest in gen 3

I don't mind if it is not a complete set or if the watch is not mint, as long as either is reflected in the price

Mine not really for sale but if you are ever in down towards Limerick or west meath and want to have look drop me a note. Hard to try watches like that on on Ireland.

Why has that model peaked your interest?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 18,600 ✭✭✭✭banie01

Because its stunning, I was just going through my camera roll and it popped up when I had it on my wrist.
Wonder how long Unk will hang on to one for 🤨

Wow didn't know you had one! Thank you for the kind offer. It's on the strap by the looks of it? I thought the white as standard came on the bracelet and the blue on the strap? Or perhaps you purchased the strap separately? I think I remember you are not a fan of bracelets in general?

I fancied the Overseas for years. The blue in particular. And the bracelets are out of this world. But they were way out of my price range, so I didn't really pay much attention to them, never mind know much about them. In recent years, I am leaning more towards white than blue

Then I came across one on C24 by chance and it struck me they had dropped about half in value since the peak of the market. Making the cheaper ones more or less on a par with a sub date. Which is both pretty amazing and all of a sudden in my league

I much prefer the arabic numerals of the gen 2. The 42mm vs 41mm is a bit better for me as well and the watch looks more butch. The gen 3 has the in house movement and the open case back, but even if they were similarly priced, I would still prefer the gen 2

The guilloche dial on the gen2 puts it ahead of the the gen 3 for me.

I dont think they have dropped that much. Asking prices were silly back along but I would say they were changing hands at the peak for not much more than 15k for a full set (the white ones I mean). Around 12-14 k seems to be the go of it now for a full set. But with the way inflation has gone 12k now probably my has about the same buying power as 8k 5 years ago at peak for we routing else but watches so maybe they have halved.

I have the bracelet also. The rubber was purchased but the previous owner (you may know him, likes fast cars more so these days).

Streets ahead a sub date, but it’s a different style really. And the bracelet is second to none on them.

But not as liquid as a sub of course.
