The T1 lounge up the stairs to the left of security will suit you fine

There’s a bit of building work cordoned off and it’s just past that, you’ll miss it if you don’t look left as you walk left,

I’ve no news on discount codes

This sounds ideal. Is the wine help yourself or behind the bar?

    Behind a bar.

I wouldn't really go over the 2 drink limit anyway, but I've had it mentioned to me once when they were giving me the second drink. But only once out of a dozen or so times. The staff behind the bar change frequentlyish anyway

Quick question, we fly at 12.45 and 51st & green is booked out online. Would there be any chance of getting in on the day and paying on arrival

I was just looking at booking the 51st and Green lounge and it says it's sold out.

I was looking to book it on the 6th of October, it's hard to imagine it's actually sold out so far in advance,.

Is there something happening that day?

Do they just not open bookings this early?

Could it actually be sold out already?

    Or

Do they just not let non business class people pay to go in?

I was looking for it from around 10am, which I imagine would be a busy time which is why I was looking so far in advance.

I wouldn't be surprised if they don't open it to sales for the morning 9-12am block, given the volume of departures it'd be rammed with J pax from those alone.

They could also be planning a reno after high season, it's definitely due one & Oct-Nov would be a decent window for it.

Thinking of booking a lounge for an upcoming departure and looking for a bit of advice on whether it's worth it or not. 2 adults and a teenager travelling for a 7.40am flight on a Saturday morning, probably just looking a cooked breakfast and some light refreshments. TIA.

Probably not tbh. You'd get a nicer breakfast for half the price in some of the airport restaurants.

Barman yesterday confirmed to me it's getting refurbed at some point this year, a proper bar with draft beer aside from Guinness is going into the centre of the floor.

Any news on what Dublin airport were teasing with respect to the Asian destination?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,877 ✭✭✭pureza

Any chance the refurb would include removing the huge fence they put up last year outside the windows on the left that has ruined the runway views?

Sitting there looking out at an ugly tall steel barrier instead of wheels down from landing or up is a shame versus the clear view that was there

    Somehow I doubt it sadly

I see the T1 lounge is closed for a full re furb since September 1st,is being enlarged but not reopening until early 2026

There’s a temporary lounge at the 200 gates for some airlines with minimal facilities, has anyone seen this yet? Or what is there, hardly just roped off gate seats?

I was in the Martello at the start of September and it was rammed, that must have been the reason why

I’m flying business with Turkish in 2 weeks and they mentioned this temporary lounge at the 200 gates

Any idea when 51st and Green is being refurbished? When it closes and when it's expected to open?

Is 51&G getting a refit before the main EI T2 lounge or has the T2 lounge been done? I was in the T2 lounge earlier this year and to say it was tatty is an understatement, it was in rag order.

51st&Green is a daa lounge, EI lounge is EIs issue to solve. So their refurbs are not connected.

I think they may both all actually run day-to-day by KSG, but that doesn't affect the purse strings for refits!

Ah yes, I had forgotten that thanks, I rarely travel west so I'm not a user of it. I guess we'll be waiting quite a while for a refurb of the EI lounge then. They'll wait until the carpets and seats are shredded rather than just threadbare.

Not necessarily,They did up the Heathrow T 2 lounge,it reopened earlier this year

    Its seating has densified though

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 982 ✭✭✭LiamaDelta

That's true, but the Dublin lounge is 4 years older and in worse state so it doesn't make sense why they'd do LHR first, apart from the fact that it's smaller so maybe they had it in the budget.

For anyone interested, this is what the "temporary facilities" at gate 202 looks like while the T1 lounge is closed. It's basically the normal gate seating with a few high tables thrown in. Not roped off or anything, and certainly no food/drink. Laughable 🤣

yes and the T2 DAA lounge has been removed from Revolut ultra’s dragon pass

So no options at all unless you want to fork out for the former East lounge

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 982 ✭✭✭LiamaDelta

I saw that last week and I thought they just had some spare tables and chairs and stored them there!

jeez. Lounges have really plummeted in quality.

was in the EI lounge yesterday lunchtime , rammed, but neither coffee machine worked, the barista was double jobbing with something in kitchen area and toilets were in a state.

I immediately left and it was actually more pleasant to sit at the gate.

The majority of lounge 'customers' in lots of airports / lounges now are there because of credit/debt card benefits, they're not actual business class passengers. Thats playing a huge role in the overcrowding, and quality decline. Airlines and airports just don't care as much about the passenger lounge experience if they're on an economy ticket.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,643 ✭✭✭✭cson

I mean the EI lounge you can't get into unless you're an elite of their program or others, or you pay the fee (if they even offer that).

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,525 ✭✭✭Blut2

Thats not accurate. For the T2 lounge, which is regularly far too busy:

Who Can Access Aer Lingus Lounge?

Buy a pass online from €25 per person (Current Summer 2025)
Pay at the door for €35
    Included with business class tickets
    OneWorld Elite Members
    Priority Pass

Dublin's not buyable currently according to the website, but there's plenty of other ways in - longhaul biz fares; short haul Aerspace fares (in some obscure situations, very rarely, cheaper than economy - the only times I've booked them), short haul Advantage fares, two passes a year on the Aer credit card, every flight on the BOI Business Gold card.

I've not had status for a very long time - probably will again soon - and I've been in the lounge a lot of times since it lapsed.
