The new Irn Bru ad with the ginger kid arguing with the shop keeper - Oi, this is not a soft drink

    😡😡😡

I'm aware of how little athletes within athletics who aren't big worldwide household names make.

I suppose I see your point - its just the ad itself I find stupid and if I was a professional I'd like to 100% focus on the training and not publicity/doing ads etc. Maybe I'm just odd like that but who knows.

There’s a new ad on Tv for the ESB I think. Murdering Don’t stop thinking about tomorrow by Fleetwood Mac.

That must be Nigel with the brie...

'Hey, Ash. Sorry I missed you....'

    Every single ad break.

In fairness the jobbing actors probably have less chances to earn so wouldn't begrudge them a few quid either.

Except in this case the whole point of the ad is to positively associate 123.ie with the personal brand of the two athletes, and with their sport.

The generic out of breath corporate character trying to keep up on the track is no doubt a jobbing actor alright.

The ad for a new series on RTE on Sunday, 'The Walshe Sisters'. Cue all the 30 something single dipso female tropes, and HAVING GREAT CRACK!, LADS!. Marion Keyes universe, 'nuff said. I'd like to watch it, but I'm actually busy, pulling out my toenails with a pliers.

The Lyft ad where they give the rock a lift. Whoever wrote it must have been on acid.

A Allianz ad that was on a few years ago in Northern Ireland.

It was actually a Australian ad. The funny thing is that the Northern Ireland ad has a couple of superimposed differences such as in the scene when the person says ahhhhh, you can see at the elevator a "do not use in a fire" sticker which is not in the same scene for australia.

The car license plates have also had a blue line added to them.

    Oz

    NI

That ad was used here too, wasn't it? I've definitely seen it before, and I never really watch UK TV except for the rare football match they get rights to.

the constant constant repetitive DHL / Coldplay adds on TV..

Apart from Coldplay being shïte…The Chris Martin fella has to be one of the most cringeyist individuals….🤦🏻‍♂️ 🤮 he just really annoys me, always with his fake ‘bonhomie’ and ‘earnestness’….

he and his band mates are absolutely rolling in dosh, multimillionaires… so why are they getting into bed with the corporates. .?

Ah, I always presumed it was shot in South Africa like so many ads.

From their email ad, this phrase, emojis in particular, says it all. Bleeccchhh!

".....following five Irish sisters navigating life’s messiness.💕👭📚"

I've just received this link to an extraordinary overlay documentary (now and then footage) of Hitler's Berghof, the one Eva Braun made famous with her home movies. Spooky as hell, where most of it guests now probably reside. I'll watch this instead, in the cave.

An Post - 'Making Better Happen'

Like Eir's 'Let's make Possible' and AIB's 'backing brave', this weird adspeak probably invented by the same people whose idea of grammar is that pronouns are homophobic.

'together we can' from vodafone …… like what? …. we can what?
Sky's 'Believe in Better' makes sense.

New National Lottery ad pisses me off, of course it's on every few minutes.

Completely agree. Can't stand it. Another Mayo winner. A county with 2.5% of the country's population, yet they're the biggest online winner. That jackpot went on for over 4 months.

Mayo has the biggest Jackpot winner ever, when it was set at the limit, went on for more than half a year, and was won a couple of years ago. They can't win Sam, but, they've no problem cleaning up in the Lotto. They clean up way, way beyond their probability, compared to other counties.

The message is clear, if you're poor, and miserable with it, gambling is the solution. Disgusting.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 805 ✭✭✭BP_RS3813

Some would say all gambling ads are disgusting to be fair.

They really seem to have more money than sense, when it comes to spending on advertising. It's part of their rules, that they can spend up to a certain % of income on advertising, but it still seems WAY over the top.

The one with that dopey eejit announcing to someone she's pregnant then stepping out in front of a jeep without even looking and they stare at each other dramatically.

'The second you suspect a stroke is the second you dial 999 or 112' the HSE ad says.

And then, if your in a particularly rural area, wait waaayy too long for an ambulance to arrive.

The cinema always has some of the worst ads going: the granny pretending to control her lights by magic, redclick, focus Brendan focus and so on. The most annoying thing is that on TV the ads get edited for time after a while, in the cinema they always play the full version.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,128 ✭✭✭fire_man

The bord bia ad where the Dad cooking fish for family and the annoying daughter.
