I think the crowd started singing F U Rory and she joined in singing it, but I could be wrong

He did the very same yesterday, diverted on the way to his car to speak to a State Trooper canine handler and pet the GSD!

i am glad for Shane as he loves this event so much and he stayed patient waiting for his game too come.Rory carried him on some holes but today he justified his spot.

Scheffler better understands the Tiger conundrum with the Ryder cup now.

When you have Fleetwood,Rory,Rose,Rahm and Hatton it will always take a good team to beat you ,especially if they are ably backed up by the lower order.

Hard to understand how our lads representing an economic entity care so much more than the US team seem to.

The American players are all MAGA clowns too im afraid.

JJ Spaun doing the Trump Dance..Bryson loves him.

Nah everything about this Ryder Cup sums up that whole country for me at the minute...classless kip with classless people.

P.p.s. the incident between Rose and DeChambeau's caddie firstly, and then De Chambeau getting stupidly involved, and making an obnoxious arse of himself in yelling at the European players, and finally Scheffler's caddie actually bumping into vice captain Moulinari into the bargain, was a disgrace imho.

The etiquette on the initial incident is perfectly clear, if it's someone else's turn to putt or take a shot, you shag off & don't intrude on the playing player. The American's have prior form here, their whole team disgracefully jumped all over Olazabel's line on a putt to halve a match & tie a previous Ryder Cup. Equally they had a caddie get in the way of McIlroy in Rome, doffing his cap in a silly looking protest about money on his putt, which led to another rousing quarrel then also, but this behaviour today was yet again clueless & classless by a US player & two caddies. There's no excuse for a caddie trying to bump a vice captain. That's reprehensible stuff tbh.

With De Chambeau the mask slipped, when he reverted to the moany, self absorbed, PITA of a Prima Donna he always was until a few years back, before trying to fully reinvent his public persona to the fun loving, sociable, fair fellow well met type that he's tried to act like the past 2-3 years. Here he was back to bad ol' self. Yuck!!

At least tomorrow is going to be a formality...the wife has a couple of jobs lined up so think I have no problem doing those....hardly worth watching the golf tomorrow

There is a comedian there called Heather McMahan. Dunno if she's the MC or not though

Bet they wouldn't that to Lowry!

Loved him telling the fan to f off.

Yeah. Fleetwood and rose. Are some team.

Some comedian. Didn't she rile up the crowd?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,580 ✭✭✭daithi7

And Rory, telling a member of the crowd to "shut the f**k up" earlier, when trying to rile him on his shot preparation in his foursome match, before going on to play a really exquisite shot to help win the hole superbly & the match.

    Pure class !!

    (albeit a bit psyched up... :) )

Well the local crowd may have been cretins but on Golf Channel (U.S.) Brandel Chamblee basically said this was the best Ryder Cup team ever and pointed out that they were beating a U.S. team not playing that badly in front of the worst fans anywhere. So it was 10/10 praise from an American golfing commentator on your team and their preparation. In fact, according to him, the scoring from the U.S. team was better than some of their winning teams in the past and even so they are getting shellacked by record low scoring.

U.S. made one mistake people are not talking about, as I understand it they have a lot of say on how the course is set up, and they kept the rough low and recent weather trends made the course unusually easy too. This plays right into the hands of a team with statistically better putters like Team Europe. As to the Morikawa-English team, lots of slagging for them but they played fairly well and just got steamrolled, anyone else would have done no better.

Has anyone ever missed the singles due to injury before? Not saying Hovland will miss, just cannot recall a situation.

They are about to announce the matches for tomorrow so we'll find out more about Hovland soon. They should have a rule like a vice captain could take the place of an injured player just so the match happens. The actual rule as far as I know would be, match is forfeited to whoever U.S. chooses to be Hovland's potential opponent.

just listening to McGinley on the Golf Channel with Chamblee, jeez he is some spoof machine, perfect I suppose for the the American audience!

  • Site Banned Posts: 7,421 ✭✭✭gameoverdude

    Why not!?

Some of the the things picked up on the microphone were absolutely disgusting. Bringing in family!

As my late mam would say "their taste is all in their mouth".

Don't get me wrong. Some of my best mates are Americans. They'd be horrified.

I don't get it? Never hear that crap at a big rugby match.

Im not a huge golf fan, is this normal?

Absolutely loving this battering of the US crowd now on sky via golf channel. I love a close tournament, but delivering an absolute battering is lovely to see.

Harris English 3rd best in the world, Europe should be scared...give me strength.

Europe won in Gleneagles, 2014... But boy have we been paying for it ever since.

Pro tip: I was just getting to that…lift and empty box(pretend it's heavy).

Good lord my backs out! Need to sit down for 6.75 hours.

    I hope it's a humiliation.

Although, several American players tried to calm things down. Fair play.

Some interesting matches tomorrow, Scheffler McIlroy being the obvious standout. Think Fleetwood will destroy Thomas

Of course he is. Sure he was in the White House a couple of weeks ago giving a speech in front of the Orange blimp and RFK

Listening to Bradley’s press conference, when asked about the hostile crowd and the fans behaviour and stepping over the line…he compares it to the last Ryder cup in Rome and how ‘violent’ that was …..America really is goosed, if there is something you don’t like, you can say any aul crap or claim fake news and it’s not questioned..lost a lot of respect for him

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,021 ✭✭✭Deeper Blue

He came across terribly in the press conference

    Whole event bizarre.....

I know on a golf forum people will think this is nuts.

But european team shouldn't have to play in that environment.

    America in an existential crisis...

Europe might help them by a boycott....

Trump thing and Trump UN speech......

We have a history of boycotts in Europe..do it..

    Scheffler v Rory.

    Could be interesting.

USA, great players, but as far as I see not a team. All I hear is "I".

    Bad captain

Lol Keegan saying European team have more experience on slower greens at the British Open....lads have more insight at the Puerce Purcell

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 697 ✭✭✭The wonderfish

Totally agree, a golf forum is not the usual platform but this event is like holding a mirror up to the state of the US at the moment….sad to see it and scarily it’s only going to get worse

The behaviour at the Ryder Cup is getting out of hand.

Its only a matter of time before there will be a fight between drunk fans.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,988 ✭✭✭Ardillaun

As someone living in Canada, I take a dimmer view of Americans in general these days. There’s a lot of MAGA support among the US golfers I meet. They voted for a Konigsberg philosopher who wants to destroy my country.

There’s a mix of both going on.
