The likes of me and you, who aren't professional gamers, are probably never going to get an injury from gaming. Slap a bit of voltarol on and rest it for a day or 2 and we would be fine. I bought a pro-controller 1 2 years ago and it's the job, much better build quality than a lot of the chinese ones out there

in my opinion Cyberpunk and DK Bananza are the 2 best games on Switch 2 at the moment, I certainly would not trade Cyberpunk, it's a very good game and the Switch 2 version is very impressive, however the start of the Phantom Liberty expansion is laggy but after that initial mission the rest it lag is barely noticeable.

Can anyone recommend a switch controller other than the pro controy. My kids are going to be using it so just need to be durable and work, nothing fancy.

I'd look at an 8Bitdo, I have an older Ultimate I use with Switch 1 and it's honestly as nice as the Pro Controller.

Have a look at VOYEE controllers on Amazon. Can be had for twenty quid or so.

Had a couple of them for a few years - no trouble and works fine in switch 2

Thanks both, will have a look at the suggestions

Smyth's have a PowerA Wario controller for €24.99. I have the Mario version of this one for years and it's a great controller (and twice the price with any of the other characters on it).

Yes, should connect no problem as I had no issues with the Mario one. Just go into Controller settings, choose Change Grip/Order and hold down the sync button.

No NFC on most of the third party controllers so amiibo scanning won't work.

Have the family membership, and updated the Zelda patch. I can see the Switch 2 edition, so can my daughter on her account, but my son can only load it without the upgrade. All on same machine. If I log into settings on the Nintendo site, his account settings are identical to hers.
    Any ideas?

    Edit: fixed!

Does your son have a full account (linked to an email address) or just a local account on the switch 2?

Fixed. Network password had changed, he hadn't logged in since but we had. Once new password was in, it worked.

I got this Voyee Controller from amazon. Works fine once connected but every time the console is restarted it needs to be reconnected manually by getting the joycons or a pro controller and going to into 'change grip/order' screen. So it's a bit annoying if you want to use it as your main controller you need to always have joycons or a pro controller on hand as well. Tried going to settings>controllers & accessories and hit update but it just hangs at 0%. Is there any way to have it reconnect automatically when console is switched on or is this just the way it is with third party controllers?

Factory reset it, repair and see if it will connect automatically. Ive had a few 3rd party controllers and they can have issues with Switch OS changes as they might not get many updates if any. The other thing to try is connecting via a usb cable when you boot then unplug the cable. Not ideal but at least you wouldnt need to faf about with another joy con / pro controller in the settings to get it connected.

IIRC for us it depended on the startup sequence. I think we turned on the console, then turned on the Voyee, the other way round and the console wouldnt pick up the controller. I'll need to check and I'll post back.

Can anyone recommend somewhere to get a switch screen repaired/replaced in limerick/Ennis/Galway. Dropped and black screen. Has sound and stuff but screen dark?

Switch 1, OLED or Switch 2. First two try to source broken ones on adverts Facebook marketplace or eBay with a working screen so you have parts already.

If a Switch 2 it's going to cost a fortune and due to being only two months old might be difficult to find parts, go back to where you bought it ask for repair or contact details for Nintendo as it is accidentally damaged you might get it repaired for cost but I can't see any local fixer upper being available as of yet.

Really enjoying Cyberpunk on Switch 2. It runs and looks great. Really fun game.

hi folks im looking to buy the switch2, is there a best/cheapest place to purchase at the moment?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 888 ✭✭✭Xofpod

I know it's a very different game but how would you compare it to the company's previous Witcher 3, if you played it? I dug that out to play the boosted version on the Switch 2 and am absolutely loving it. Cyberpunk is my next "major" game in mind for when I finish Witcher so I'm curious as to how it measures up.

Not really. The console doesn't go on sale often.

Best prices seem to be on Amazon.ie

Switch 2 console - €454.09 - Currently out of stock but normally €470 in shops.

Switch 2 console and Mario Kart World combo - €493.20 (normally €510 in most shops) - this is better value as MKW is RRP €90

hey thanks for that i will take a look. Are you happy with yours?

Keep an eye on Adverts. I picked up mine along with a case and screen protector for €380. Got Mario Kart World on CDKeys (loaded now) for €44, so €424 total.

Slightly underwhelmed by the machine itself, the bigger screen is nice but I definitely miss the colours and quality of the OLED one. Mario Kart is fine, but just more Mario Kart really.

I've got Hades 2 preloaded and will pick up Star Wars Outlaws too, but the memory card price is a bit of a killer - €100 for a 512gb card stings.

If you like The Witcher 3 I'd say you'll love Cyberpunk. It's a much better game IMO.

Night City is a far more appealing location to be exploring and the writing and acting is on another level entirely.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,735 ✭✭✭wassie

Mainly used by the kids, coming from Switch 1 though they really enjoy the larger screen and MKW is a great game. The 4K when connected to a external screen is also much better.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 888 ✭✭✭Xofpod

Sold. The writing in Witcher 3 is probably the main draw so the same level (or better) in a different setting sounds fantastic.

And I haven't even gone near the Phantom Liberty expasion yet! the character writing in that is apparently out of this world.

Was in CEX today and noticed the Switch 2 version of BOtW and TotK are more expensive than the Switch versions so was wondering is the code included in the Switch 2 box for the upgrade a one time use? I know they would never do such a thing but, guess it means CEX is ripping unaware people off. Shocking, I know.🙄
