Finally got mine last night. I'm finding the virtual cart thing really annoying. Every time I buy a game I've to insert the virtual cart. I'd rather it just started downloading.

Pity, too far away from me :(

I don't think enough has been said about game sharing. It works really well.

My partner was looking for a good puzzle game for a business trip so I shared Braid with her (we have a family NSO subscription). I have 300+ digital games from the switch era, and she'll never need to buy any of them for herself.

Now if only I could get her to like Metroidvanias. 🙂

Got one in Smyths Tallaght, they had about 15 this morning.

Is there a way to tell if you have the Switch 2 version of a game downloaded? I got the Super Mario Bros Wonder but loading screen was a Switch 1 load screen (pretty sure when I boot Zelda it's actually a Switch 2 load screen that boots)…

I was wondering this myself Super Mario Bros. I have physical cart but for some reason visuals are not great.

Has anyone else got near full internal storage. I had to get 256gb express and I have noticed straight away the load times are much quicker from it than the actual game cart like we are talking roughly anywhere from 5 to 10 sec faster.

I have a switch 2, switch 1 and switch lite. Daughter plays Mario Kart 8 on the switch lite but the switch 1 is paired with switch 2 for sharing virtual cards. It's a pain you can only do 1 to 1 pairing between switches for virtual cards and not have say 3 or 4 in a family group. Had to 'lend' Mario Kart 8 to my daughters switch lite for now but if anyone can think of a better way to manage this let me know please

Mario Kart bundle is in stock and available for home delivery currently at Smyths.

Edit: Woops, didn't notice the post above mine.

Yeah, the loading screen show if it's a Switch 1 or Switch 2 game like you said. Super Mario Bros Wonder is a Switch 1 game, so sounds right. Zelda BoTW and ToK both have upgrades you can buy, or if you have NSO.

I don't have one myself so haven't tried it. But I was reading that this 8Bitdo adapter 2 has been updated to support Switch 2. It will let you use any of your controllers on Switch. If you have xbox or PS5 controllers and want to play 4 player it's a cheaper option than buying 4 Pros.

As well as the loading screen, if you hit Start/+ on the game title, the software information states if its 1 or 2. So something like the recent Ridge Racer has two different versions etc

Got one from smyths tallaght earlier much appreciated guys

One question when playing Mario kart with the joy cons on 2 player one can turn by moving the whole controller the second player must use the stick. Is this normal or have I a setting to change. Any help appreciated

Oh I thought it was just with motorbikes and that was the reason it only worked on one. Only discovered it last night and one of us had a car and the other a motorbike.

4kwp South East facing PV System. 5.3kwh Weco battery. South Dublin City.

Seems to be the right or orange joy con that is not motion sensitive

Was debating which platform to get Fantasy Life on - luckily the devs released a patch today for the Switch versions that adds a graphics setting for Depth of Field - so you can turn off that awful blurring effect around the edges. So bought the Switch 2 version and it's brilliant! A quick first go turned into 3 hrs and I'm still in the starting area levelling up each life. I have the original 3DS version up in the attic which I remember being fairly ok but this is much better, so addictive. 😁

Didn’t know about the virtual cart pairing being 1:1 only — that’s a bit annoying with multiple consoles in the house. Looking forward to testing the load time difference myself once I plug in a faster SD card. Appreciate all the real-world insights here!

LLooks Like super mario bros wonder is still set to Nintendo Switch Software and not Nintendo Switch 2 software has anyone managed to get upgraded?

  • Moderators, Computer Games Moderators Posts: 11,070 Mod ✭✭✭✭Andrew76

Do you mean the free upgrades? It’s not listed as one of those titles - Super Mario U Deluxe, Odyssey and 3D World are the only Mario titles listed. If I’m understanding you correctly.

It's not quite like some of the other updates such as the Zeldas which essentially become Switch 2 Editions.

They are still Switch 1 games so show as Switch 1, but the likes of 3D World has been updated with HDR support and increased resolution when played on Switch 2. Wonder was updated to make it more compatible with S2, but more so in just a normal 'patch' way, don't believe it has an increase in visuals unlike say Mario Deluxe or Odyssey. There are no S2 editions of these games for the time being, just optimisations.

I'm very happy that I never played Cyberpunk before now...it's amazing!

It looks amazing on the Switch 2, fps not as good as PS5 or pc but the image quality and atmosphere is almost as good as on any other platform. The full Cyberpunk experience is on the Switch 2 and plays brilliantly, just use a pro controller instead of joycons as the joycons make aiming/gun fights far more difficult. I'm really happy that I bought this game the other night, I have it on pc as well but never really got into it at the time and now I'm playing the game all the way to the end for the first time.

I'm using it with gyro for the small aim down sight adjustments. Always used gyro with the original switch when it was used well and not going to stop now.

Would You believe, I haven't even played it on the 120hz tv yet. Might try that tonight though

Oh I was sure I seen it being added - it must have been Super Mario U Deluxe … Maybe an update might come soon enough.
