Funny how we've been hearing so much about how people loving the club matches so much, yet there's 1 post on this thread since it opened a month ago.

This isn't the only GAA Forum that exists, vast majority of counties still at group stage too.

I know that. But still the volume of posts decreases dramatically even for county threads when the inter County finishes.

Wicklow championship mired in stupidity again today.

Carnew shock Rathnew by beating them in the QF, and a row involving spectators and players breaks out in the stand.

    What a county

Had a run through the lay of the land of the different hurling championships to get an idea of where each county is. Seems almost all of the championships are into the last round of group games.

Carlow are the only county to have already finished their championship, and Waterford have made it to the final of theirs.

Here's a list of the counties whose winners will enter the Senior All Ireland.

    Leinster

Carlow - Won by Mount Leinster Rangers

Kildare - QF (game set for the 10th)

Offaly - Final Round of group games (on 6th & 7th)

Laois - Final Round of group games (on 6th & 7th)

Wexford - Final Round of group games (on 6th & 7th)

Dublin - Final Round of group games (on 12th &13th)

Westmeath- Final Round of group games (no date set yet)

Kilkenny - Final Round of League games which feeds into Championship (on 6th & 7th)

    Ulster

Derry - Final Round of group games (on 6th & 7th)

Antrim - Final Round of group games (on 6th & 7th)

Down - Two rounds of group left (next round 13th & 14th)

    Munster

Waterford - Final - Mount Sion vs Ballygunner (on 14th)

    Clare - QF (on 6th & 7th)

Tipperary - Final Round of group games (on 6th & 7th)

Cork - Final Round of group games (on 6th & 7th)

Limerick - Final Round of group games (no date yet)

    Connacht

Galway - Final Round of group games (on 6th & 7th)

In Meath, last group games in the football championships just took place. Dunshaughlin are reigning champions but lost their second group game yesterday to Trim and were about to be knocked out until Meath Hill scored a last minute two pointer in the other group game against Rathkenny to send Dunshaughlin through on score difference. Rathkenny beat Dunshaughlin in their first group game but lost their next two by a point thanks to last kicks of the game.

Trim, Wolfe Tones and Skryne each qualified winning all three games with Ratoath topping the other group. Ballinabrackey, Dunshaughlin, Summerhill (by one point score difference) and Donaghmore/Ashbourne each qualified in second place. Meath Hill, Gaeil Colmcille (Kells), Simonstown Gaels and St. Colmcilles (Bettystown/Laytown/Mornington) are in the relegation playoffs.

In the Intermediate, Navan O'Mahonys, who have won the Meath Senior Championship 20 times are in danger of being relegated to the junior championship after finishing bottom of their group.

In Limerick, Na Piarsiagh are qualified for the semi finals with a game to spare. They are playing with efficiency and not conceding much.

Reigning champions Doon in pole position to get the 2nd semi final spot from group 1. They have two wins and two draws so far. Very lucky to snatch a win last weekend v Ballybrown.

Ballybrown, led by the outstanding Aidan O Connor, and Kilmallock look likely to get the two quarter final spots from group one. Ahane could still make it but will need to beat Doon in their last game.

Patrickswell have lost all 4 games and are relegated to group 2 for next year.

In group 2, Monaleen have secured a quarter final spot with a game to spare. Adare lead the race for the second spot but will need a result against Newcastle West to secure that. NCW drew their first three games and came within inches of drawing a fourth match v Monaleen last week. If Adare slip up it leaves the door open for Mungret if they can beat relegation threatened Dromin Athlacca.

In the Premier Intermediate, Garryspillane and newly promoted Croagh Kilfinny look the two form teams, with Effin not out of the reckoning.

They don't have the same balance across their team as the other leading contenders. Massively reliant on their three star players with the supporting cast struggling to make any impact. Gillane picked up a hand injury which was a hammer blow. Lynch appeared to tweak his hamstring in the crucial game against Ballybrown, they moved him into full forward rather than taking him off....

Thats essentially it. The Well have 3 HOTYs and not much else.

A team like Na Piarsaigh have none but all starting 15 and subs are good enough to have had at least some intercounty experience.

Ballygunner do 12 in a row in Waterford

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,095 ✭✭✭Vinnie222

Fair play to Ballygunner, but 12 in a row just shows how poor the rest of Waterford club hurling is, it’s embarrassing at this stage.

Is there any website to keep track of all county championships ?

The GAA should really invest in a livescore type app

There is also Whatsthescor but I think a lot depends on self reporting like Teletext used to be so coverage varies club to club.

The vast majority of county championships are aimed at the sporting population of around 150 to 200k people. When you factor those tiny numbers what we have is actually very good.

Navan O'Mahonys now just one defeat away from playing Junior football in 2026. They went down in the Intermediate relegation playoff semi final against Ballivor last night. And it wasn't even close in the end. O'Mahonys got a goal with the last kick of the game to lose by 6. The other relegation playoff semi final is Curraha (who were only relegated from senior last year) face off against Bective, another Navan team. Would be a spectacular fall from grace for them, given they're the most successful team in Meath, have such a large population and that they only won their last SFC title (and third in four years) 10 years ago. Though Curraha and particularly Bective are having woeful seasons so they should be able to get the win they need.

SFC quarter finals are this weekend. Wolfe Tones and Dunshaughlin play in a repeat of last year's final. Ratoath and Donaghmore/Ashbourne play in a local derby along with Trim and Summerhill. Meanwhile Ballinabrackey, a tiny club right on the border with Offaly, play their first ever SFC quarter final against Skryne.

i did not expect to see imokilly being beaten by st finbars in cork , cork hurling championship wide open now

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,836 ✭✭✭windy shepard henderson

in clare there will be a 12th different winner in the last 20 years after ballyea were beaten in an excellent game today the final between eire og and clooney/quin will end a famine , eire og last won it in 1990 , clooney in 1942 , eire og is the club of shane o'donnell and david reidy and clooney are the club of ryan taylor and peter duggan

its nearly impossible to follow even a neighbouring counties championship let alone your own when you have 3 championships in football and 3 in hurling going on at the same time

also if the attendances were added up across all club championship games and compared to inter county games across the country all ireland finals aside , they would hold up fairly well

but yeah it needs to be promoted better , stream sport are not helping anyone by ripping people off with their prices , clubber is excellent

Its to the "new" grade of Premier Intermediate. They were in Senior B for the last number of years, along with 7 other clubs (including my own). Senior B was away of clubs to say they were Senior, but in reality they were Intermediate.

There used to be 24 teams in Senior, but next year there'll be 16. It's part of a restructuring process that is coming from Croke Park.

The relegation match you reference was to relegate 1 team from Senior A. All 8 teams, bar the champions, in Senior B, along with the 8 quarter finalists in this year's Intermediate grade, will make up a 16 team premier Intermediate grade in 2026
