Reolink doorbell to play chime on sonos speaker?

I've got a reolink wifi doorbell and its chime plugged into a socket in the kitchen. I'd like to also get a chime played on a speaker in an upstairs office.

I've followed instructions to create a script that will make lights in my house flash when my Alarmo alarm is triggered. I was hoping to do something similar with my doorbell, create a script when doorbell is pressed to play a chime on a speaker but so far I'm struggling to get anywhere with it.

Any tips or pointers as to where i might get instructions to implement such a script?

The Sonos integration has examples of scripts to play media. It may also be possible to create an automation in the visual editor to play media (I don't have Sonos so that's speculation, install it and see what actions it exposes)

There is a Reolink integration you can use for the doorbell press trigger, it can be configured in the visual editor, that's how I set mine up (to flash some lights on a doorbell ring).

This is the YAML version of the trigger:

    entity_id:

    - binary_sensor.front_door_bell_visitor
    to: "on"
    trigger: state

(Dont leave a blank line after entity ID, it wont format properly on here for me)

Anybody try out one of these panel lights from Ikea? They have a 30x30cm one and this larger 100x40cm. I can see it working better than the existing GU10 spots in my walk-in wardrobe.

Haven't gotten one, but it is supported in z2m. Ikea zigbee stuff generally works very well.

Yes, I have a number of their devices and they are well supported alright.

I've had the 100x40 about six months now and it's great value for money. Works perfectly fine with HA via Z2M. Very bright too at full tilt!

Thanks for the info! I'll just have to wait until its back in stock!

They are supposedly discontinuing Zigbee for Thread Matter (not sure when it’s effective) so it may not come back into stock.

    Edit: (Matter over) Thread

The Home Assistant Connect ZBT-1 is supposed to be good.
    https://www.home-assistant.io/connectzbt1/

The Sonoff had some issues in the past but they were resolved with a later firmware and it's rock-solid for me now.

Just don't forget to install the adapter using a USB3 cable.

Definitely get network one. I find they are much more flexible, and much easier to adapt if you ever change your set-up.

    Currently using a Zigstar UZG-01.

There's also the Smlight 06 or whatever it's called.

Also, it takes a bit more effort to setup initially, but zigbee2mqttt if definitely better than zha.

Oh the gateway one - yeah, it's a no-brainer that one.

I'm a ZHA fan, I found it better as it had support for devices which Z2M didn't have. Plus I met the ZHA development team in May and they gave me beer, so that's me sold.

    I got this one - https://smlight.tech/product/slzb-06/

as it is POE and could be placed in a better location than where my server is.

As a result I have the sonoff zigbee usb dongle sat around doing nothing if anyone wants to take it for pittance - Dublin based.
Would recommend the POE if your machine is not at the centre of your house / zigbee network though.

    Hi folks,

Has anyone the outline of any automation that would check if an integration/device has become unavailable and reloads it?

    Thanks

    Mick

Actually, I was looking for one of those recently and I didn't find one that I liked, so I settled for a push notification when the service goes into a 'different' state… which reminds me that I didn't get a notification the last time that it failed… hmm.

So no, but I'll search again at some point and share back here if I find one.

it depends on the device and what it shows i suppose.

I have a temperature sensor that has a habit of not responding/reporting. So I set up this automation.

    alias: Buffer Tank Connectivity Check
description: Notify if the Buffer Tank Temperature hasn't updated in 2 hours
    triggers:

    • minutes: /10
      trigger: time_pattern
      conditions:
    • condition: template
      value_template: |
      {{ (now() | as_timestamp) -
      (states.sensor.buffer_tank_temperature_temperature.last_changed | as_timestamp) > 7200 }}
      actions:
    • action: notify.pushover
      data:
      title: Connectivity
      message: >-
The Buffer Tank Temperature appears stuck. Check and restart the device
      if necessary.
      mode: single

It's a Soma smart blind integration. I had their connect USB stick but it kept going offline. Switched to using an old raspberry pi. They provide an image for it. It's working better but I still seem to get some timeouts on actions.

    Hers an example failure

    1000026024.png

It looks like a timeout issue. Wonder if it's possible to up the timeout value ?

Ive up the ble TX power to maximum on the devices, maybe that will help. It has default, medium and max. I'm not sure what default is..

Try this method by setting up a sensor and then a state-change automation:

My project is to get a light in a small under-stairs bathroom to turn on when someone enters the bathroom and turn off after say two minutes of no motion detected. I had something similar in my last house but using philips hue sensor and bulb which I don't have this time.

The light is a dumb led ceiling light, the light switch is a standard light switch. Home assistant is up and running and I have a sonoff motion sensor (SNZB-03) still in the box.

What I'm thinking is that i need a zigbee smart switch, possibly this one (No Neutral Wire Required, SONOFF ZBMINIL2 Zigbee Smart Light Switch (2 Way), Works with Alexa, SmartThings Hub, Google Home&SONOFF ZBBridge-P, ZigBee Hub Required : Amazon.co.uk: DIY & Tools).

In HA, I would have automations which would work like this…
    1. When motion is detected, turn on smart switch for five minutes.

    2. If switch is on and no motion detected for two minutes, turn off smart switch.

    My questions…

    1. Is the zigbee smart switch linked OK to use in Ireland?
    2. Do the automations sound feasible, can i turn on a light at the switch when the motion sensor is activated?
    3. Anything else I should consider?

    TIA

The switch looks grand, but I've no experience with it.

For the automation I'd have one automation set up using trigger IDs - motion turns the light on, motion cleared wait 1 min and turn the light off.

If you have the motion just turn the light on for 5 min you'll have some very annoyed people sitting in the dark! (Unless you want to encourage people to do their business faster!!)

This is what I've done for a similar job. I've a small zigbee pir from aliexpress and ikea bulbs (Tradfri)

to handle the delay I've a binary sensor based on the pir detecting motion

    #in template.yaml file

    - binary_sensor:

    - unique_id: "BathroomOccupany202509"

    name: "Bathroom Occupancy" state: >

    {{ is_state('binary_sensor.pir2_occupancy', 'on') }}

delay_off: "00:15:00" # stay ON after last motion

    availability: >

    {{states('binary_sensor.pir2_occupancy') not in ['unknown','unavailable']}}

basically what this does is turn occupancy on anytime a motion is detected (maybe wrong choice of phrase in a bathroom :-P) and waits 15min before turn off/unoccupied

Below is the code for the automation, sorry the code formatting in boards messed up so you can't just cut and paste. but you can set it up in the GUI if you follow the logic.

Summary, it's triggered by the occupancy sensor turning on or off, then turns the light on or off. I've a condition based on my weather station so make sure it doesn't turn on during the day, you can use the sun integration to do similar based on sunset/ sunrise

I've a slow turn off to allow occupants to move around if they're still there and haven't set off the PIR

    alias: BathroomLights
    description: >-
Turn off bathroom lights if no occupancy, turn on if motion/occupany detected
    while off.
    triggers:

    • entity_id:
      • binary_sensor.bathroom_occupancy
        to: "on"
        trigger: state
        id: BathroomOccupied
    • entity_id:
      • binary_sensor.bathroom_occupancy
        to: "off"
        trigger: state
        id: BathroomEmpty
        conditions: []
        actions:
    • choose:
      • conditions:
        • condition: trigger
          id:
          • BathroomOccupied
        • condition: numeric_state
          entity_id: sensor.weatherstation_solar_lux
          below: 5000
          sequence:
        • action: light.turn_on
          target:
          entity_id: light.bathroom
          data:
          transition: 5
          brightness: 255
      • conditions:
        • condition: trigger
          id:
          • BathroomEmpty
            sequence:
        • action: light.turn_off
          target:
          entity_id: light.bathroom
          data:
          transition: 30
          mode: restart

And as far as I know, the sonoff switch is wired into your existing switch (terminals S1 and S2) so you can use automation or the physical switch. Either will turn it on or off, doesn't matter how it was switched last.

Just installed zbmini2l, as long as it's a single switch for light it's very easy...

Move Com on switch to live in. Move L1 on switch to live out. Then connect Switch com to s1 and live to s2..

    Works really well.

    Folks,

What energy monitoring devices are you using? I use emporia myself and have previously purchased it for other people. It appears it is no longer available on the European sites.
