DDG alternated quite a bit worth lindegard didn't he?

Edit. Lindegard played 8 games that season, so DDG played 30 in the pl. So not much rotation

Yeah and the players didn't like it according to Evra. He said they went to Ferguson and said the chopping and changing GK was unsettling them and it's be better if he just picked one. He picked Lindegaard but then he got injured!

Cech and De Gea are probably not the best examples to use though considering both had arguably the 2 greatest CB pairings in the history of the Premier League (Terry/Carvalho and Ferdinand/Vidic) in front of them.

Are we expecting blooding of the new Keeper today?

Its a must win this evening to get some sort of a start to the season

By that logic, Massimo Taibi should have been quite solid within a treble-winning team and arguably one of the greatest defences in the history of the Premier League (Neville, Johnsen, Stam, Irwin) in front of him.

A poor goal keeper will weaken a good defence, not be protected by it.

Listening to Amorim's interview last night, and I'm a little bit concerned.

He seemed to indicate that even if he wanted to change system, he can't at this moment because of all the media pressure on him to do it. He indicates if he changes now, his players will think he only changed because of the external pressure and will view him as weak. I get what he's saying, but they are also going to view him as stubborn and weak in another sense, if that's the main reason why he won't change. It's been said many times but he really did box himself into this situation with his comments about never changing in the early days of his appointment.

you would hope so. was watching napoli during the week, savic their starting keeper cost less, and their #1 from the past 4/5 seasons sat on the bench.

the point, there were cheaper keepers available that would be #1 from the off.

was gonna post the same thing. weak reason to not change.

same as ineos…if their reason not to change is to not admit to another mistake, its just weak reasoning.

there were some contradictions as well. granted, context maybe lost in the text rather then hearing it spoken.

"No, no, no," he said. "Not once [have I thought about changing]. Not even the Pope [can make me], it will not change."

"This is my job, my responsibility, my life, I will not change that but I will change the system, there will be an evolution but we need to make all the good steps,"

"This will have an evolution. I'm doing things my way. Some guys do it in a different way. It will change, I hope to have the time to change."

He's stubborn and deluded. Expect us to lose a lot more games if he continues with the system.

Someone should tell Amorim to be a little bit more guarded in front of the vultures.

Say what you will of his managerial decisions but he’s just setting himself up for ridicule at these press conferences.

For me if we’re beaten tonight - he must go.

I liked his reply when they tried to set him up to say something about Rashford scoring….

“Rasmus scored, I am happy for Rasmus also.

“It is the same thing with him guys. You are so tough on Rasmus but he scored also, so let’s notice that.”

He won't be gone even if we lose 4.0. And the next two games after it.

I'm less concerned with a system change than I am for a personnel change being honest.

He has to start holding players accountable for their continued errors costing us goals and he has to put the new lad in goal because Bayindir ain't the answer to any question.

The teamsheet today will tell us a lot about whether he has the guts for the big calls

"Well, yeah, you know, that's just, like, your opinion, man"

You can see where he is coming from. But he has put himself in this situation (with both the formation and Bruno playing deep which half the world can see is not working).

He could have changed when it wasn't working last season, or just tried something different anywhere, in a friendly or a League Cup game or when 2-0 down somewhere. Now he can't change because it will look like he was pressured into it. So there is no real choice but sacking him.

So he would rather lose games than have people think he is weak. Way to set your priorities.

Win games and nobody cares about the formation, win games and nobody cares about the press.

This guy just doesn't have the mentality.

Or the points, but fans have apparently absolved him of needing any.

That's not what he said at all,i think you know this too!

Our season starts today, this is the game United has been waiting for. Our attack will light it up today.

9 points from the next 3 matches and all the negativity here will be gone.

i believe in Ruben, i believe in his plan.

Ps. Sesko to score 2 today

Lose today and West Ham win, we're in the drop zone...

Obviously hoping you’re right there Cork but it won’t be easy this evening v them and for me they are favs.

Looking at the table here and if West Ham win and we lose - we’ll be in the bottom 3.

Hoping myself for a great performance like we did v Arsenal. If we do we’ll win.

    Gut feeling is we won’t.

Dropping Yoro is odd unless he's had a knock. Been our best defender by a mile.

Team to face Chelsea: Bayindir, Mazraoui, De Ligt, Maguire, Shaw, Dorgu, Fernandes, Casemiro, Mbeumo, Amad, Sesko.

lemmens, fredricson, heaven, yoro, mainoo, mount, ugate, cunha, zirkzee

Good impact subs at least. Hopefully still in the game by the time they come on.

Ugarte out of the team - thank God.

Maguire in for Yoro and have to admit I agree with the gaffer.

The Keeper left in is obviously a serious worry.

Christ almighty, that is fooking depressing. Yoro benched but as you were from the city game. Lessons are not being learned.

I'd have had Maguire in for Shaw before taking out Yoro

I've no idea how he looks back at last week's game and decides maguire for yoro is the change.

I'm all out of faith and patience with amorim. I believed he could succeed, but he's just so bafflingly blind to the issues in the team.

Not even asking for a system change. Keep the system. But for gods sake put the right players in the right positions.

    I give up.
