Has anyone experienced issues with data while roaming in Germany ? Data kept dropping out for me to the extent it was unusable. I was on a 4g phone. My friend was on VF and had no roaming issues at all.

Actually, he's German, but his company (he is the owner) is based in Rotterdam and contracts to KPN Wholesale. I've learned not to assume someones backround or experience on Boards. But feel free to snark away as I'm leaving it there to stick to the topic at hand to keep this thread helpful for everyone.

Contacted them via chat this morning, simple enough process, told them the issue and they cancelled my order and refunded the €12.99 activation fee, told me to resign up again this time selecting the keep my own number option, thanks for the heads up.

Hi, My wife and I have been on clear mobile for the last 3 months. All working ok reception wise. We have both had the same payment issue though lately.

Basically we have both received bill non payment texts and when checking our accounts have found that the linked payment cards were not linked anymore.

We had to relink our cards and pay the month due manually.

Our cards were in our own names and valid and it happened to us on different months, so I don't know what happened.

I mentioned this issue at work, and one of my co workers had the same issue.

Online chat were fine to help get it sorted, but never got the full story why it happened.

This was an issue that happened last year, and it was fixed in December/January, weird it's happening again.

My Sky mobile contract is ending and thinking to going Clear just to get out of the year contract scenario.

    Any opinions?

Also I’ll be doing this quick and fast, possibly today or next few days!

Any referral codes, please PM me.

Also what exactly will that do?!

I did the same, ported form Sky to Clear due to issues with receiving calls. Clear is pretty much the same as Vodafone except that you don't have the same level of support. You have to contact them through their web chat and can't go into a Vodafone store. Any speed caps have been removed, although there's some anecdotal evidence that you might be deprioritised against Vodafone customers. I haven't personally come across this though.

Referral means both get a Tenner voucher for Penney's.

when porting Sky to Clear, what should I choose? Payg or bill?

    Current plan type

    Pay as you go

Also my contract end date is this Friday

Can I choose fort date this Friday and order now, would I have the sim delivered by Friday? (Dublin)

What are the latest dispatch times like? Are they standard an post postage?

Well I ordered sim and the earliest day I could port was Monday. Which is probably just as well as Friday/weekend ports can be a hassle!

I'd concur. I had a date a week later. Beware sim won't be active until porting is complete in case you think there's a temp number like gomo

    So quick update.

I received the Clearmobile sim this morning. Impressed by the swiftness of that considering I ordered it yesterday afternoon.

I’ve now changed my Sky SIM from physical to eSIM.

When that completed I swapped the Sky physical sim for the Clearmobile sim in readiness for the port scheduled for Monday.

So I still have Sky working on eSIM.

And Clearmobile SIM inserted into phone ready for a quick iPhone settings swap over on Monday/

    Fingers crossed!

I have a clear mobile SIM with a year or so that I never got around to using. If I top it up will I get the new unlimited data or will I need to order a new one. I'm intending to use it in a modem. Thanks in advance.

Editing as I realise now it's bill pay and not PAYG. Same question can I use the SIM I have or do I need to order a new one to get unlimited data

Hi, would anybody be able to tell me if the speed is the exact same as a native Vodafone SIM directly from Vodafone themselves? I would like to save some money and pay 12.99 but I do not want my speed to be less at times (possibly peak) as a result. I have heard that Vodafone prioritise their direct customers, especially at peak times. Thank you!!

I haven't noticed a difference to be honest and I've done a good few speed tests. Sent you over a referral by PM if you choose to change.

My Sky mobile just got ported to Clearmobile. Everything seems to be working fine so far. Speed tests are good, similar to Sky 5G. The ping times have been halved though, which is good to see (this was expected).

    A word of warning though!

I chose the port time to be 2-4pm today. I took a screenshot just to be sure too.

However the port happened about 10 minutes ago.

No biggie for me as I was prepared.

However it might catch someone off guard and leave them without service if the CM SIM isn’t in the phone already, and you’re out and about.

I notice that my APN is set to live.Vodafone.ie

I did read some users are using a Clearmobile specific apn.

What’s the official recommended apn to use?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,178 ✭✭✭✭TheDriver

Either but for roaming, apparently you should use clearmobile one.

Welcome to the club that the rest of the population choose to ignore.

Okay I checked on their website and it says to use APN isp.clearmobile.ie, so changed it to that

Porting does seem to have some issues alright. Mine ported fine at the time agreed but my wife's didn't happen at all. I had to contact their live chat and they did it on the spot.

I see this in my iPhone settings…

Settings > Mobile Service > Choose clearmobile SIM > Convert to eSIM (at very end of settings)

Clicking that brought up some text saying “Convert to eSIM. This phone number is on a physical sim. You can convert it to an eSIM. Vodafone IE SIM (my phone number) and then a button to convert.

I cancelled out of it and didn’t proceed.

Perhaps it would have failed anyhow?!
