I assume that the law in the US is that in all road traffic accidents that ALL sides are breathalyser - unless Trump has issued an EO that the option of not doing so exists

Per the local police, a vehicle crossed the median and hit the car Rudi was a passenger in. They've stated that it had nothing to do with the DV victim Rudi's car stopped to help. Just an accident and a bad one, crossing the median to me sounds like a head-on, ourch. Rudi has a fracture of the spine.

It's definitely giving strong "Get something out there quick before the story breaks" vibes for sure.

It reads a lot like one of those statements that David Walliams "politician" character used to do on Little Britain.

Also.. The official reports from the Police somewhat contradict the story.

"RUDY GIULIANI SERIOUSLY INJURED IN A CRASH ON 93 NORTH LAST NIGHT BETWEEN EXIT 8 AND 9 - The NH State Police is investigating a crash that left three people injured, including a passenger identified as former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani Saturday night.

Manchester Fire was dispatched at 9:53pm to 93N at Mm 23.2 for an Accident W/ Injuries which is between exits 8 and 9.

Just before 10 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 30, 2025, Troopers assigned to the Troop B barracks were investigating a reported domestic violence incident on Interstate 93 southbound in Manchester when a two-vehicle crash occurred across from them on the northbound side of the interstate. As a result of the collision, both vehicles went into the median and were heavily damaged.

Troopers and fire personnel, who were at the scene of the first incident, witnessed the collision and quickly crossed the interstate to render aid.

The on-scene investigation determined that a Honda HR-V, driven by Lauren Kemp, 19, of Concord, struck the back of a Ford Bronco, driven by Theodore Goodman, of Michigan. Kemp and Goodman, as well as Giuliani, Goodman's passenger, suffered non-life-threatening injuries and were taken by ambulance to area hospitals for treatment. Lanes on both sides of interstate 93 were closed for approximately one hour while the crash was investigated.

No charges have been filed at this time and all aspects of the crash remain under investigation. Anyone with information that may assist the investigation is asked to contact Sgt. Mark Dore at (603) 223-4381."

So the "Domestic Violence" incident was on the other side of the dual carriageway and the police were already there when Guilianis vehicle was rear ended on the other side of the road.

The driver of his vehicle perhaps slowed down to rubber neck and the following driver didn't see that in time and ran in to them

But , the story of him stopping to render aid and waiting for the police etc. doesn't seem to hold water at all.

Trump now ACTUALLY saying to Israel to ‘ get the job done’ and the sooner the better. Ie completely wipe Hamas off the face of the earth. So Israel is going to first bomb the S—t out of The remaining Palestine enclave ie Gaza city. This being done to reduce IDF casualties. Then move in with ‘BIG MACHINERY ‘ to mop up any remaining resistance and BOB’s YOUR UNCLE.

I CANNOT IMAGINE the death and destruction caused. Especially the death of innocent civilians including CHILDREN and the remaining hostages who are still alive

. I am sure that the relatives of the hostages that are already dead and as yet not returned will want them returned,, imagine trying to find any body under all the rubble and to try to and identify it

And Trump has ABSOLUTLY NO PROBLEM with all of this killing yet he got so upset with the two children shot dear in a church in. American last week and asking all of us to join him in prayers for the deceased

And his attitude to all the recent killing in Ukr by Ru missiles/drones - and especially in Kiev including 4 children

Ie ‘ I am not happy but I am not surprised’ . Then move in word ‘SANCTIONS’ was given a rest this time

I have read a few book on Trump and Rudy seems to be in a constant state of inebriation, he likes to start his day with two bloody Mary’s. So it’s likely he was quite drunk during whatever this incident was.

It seems very much like "Rudy is actually the hero in the story, and you shouldn't question it".

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 21,575 ✭✭✭✭everlast75

Perhaps you should become the arbiter of what is posted and what is not. Maybe under your stewardship Boards.ie will thrive!

Anyway, the following are facts about Rudi.

    1. He has an alcohol problem. There are many incidents in which he was pissed at Board meetings. One such example is how he looks completely out of it in the photo I posted with his hair dye running down his face.
    2. He is grossly incompetent and manages to get himself in outrageous and farcical situations. Four Seasons landscaping comes to mind.
    3. He is a serial liar. He tried to destroy the lives of Ruby Freeman and her daughter Shaye Moss with scurrilous lies which resulted in a monster defamation settlement. He was also letting off COVID farts while getting bounced out of every court room for trying to spread the big lie about the elections.
    4. He is being sued for sexual assault and separately was caught on camera fumbling around in this underwear at the thoughts of hooking up with a girl decades his junior.

Finally, the first paragraph of his statement has absolutely nothing to do with the remainder and comes across as a preemptive PR move to cover what comes next.

Elect a clown... Expect a circus

Giuliani's head of security specified that the crash was entirely unrelated. Even explicitly said it wasn't a targeted attack.

  • Moderators, Politics Moderators, Social & Fun Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 17,121 Mod ✭✭✭✭Quin_Dub

Or, it's establishing a seemingly legitimate reason for Rudi being in that vicinity at that place and time.

If Rudi was the one who called the police and waited for them to arrive, they'd have said that.

The person who called the police to a potentially serious incident and waited for them to arrive ,almost immediately getting in a car accident as they left the scene is something that is 100% pertinent to the story.

Instead they simply say "officers were dealing with an earlier incident when a car crash occurred on the other side of the motorway, which turned out to involve Rudi".

Yeah…there is a shoe somewhere waiting to drop

Where is he the mayor of now? I thought his stint in New York ended years ago?

Nowhere. Americans are very weird about continuing to use titles ever after the person has left the position.

Trump seems to have come to the conclusion that he has reached the limits to which he can rise legally, having been elected twice to the U.S presidency, and there is no other office higher than that so the only way he can stop the inevitable slide downhill is to become the dictator in control of the U.S. It's like when he mentions things in the past, which were thought impossible for him to achieve, and then he went on and did them, achieving what other people would not have.

His latest thing is about restricting the rights and ability of U.S citizens to vote, by another of his executive orders, that Postal Votes would (Except For Those That Are Very Ill, And The Far Away Military) be very restricted to and that voting would be done at ballot centres using paper ballots forms after the voter had produced valid identification. It's not the first time he's promoting this as acceptable. It is not within the remit of the U.S president to decide how the vote is done in the U.S. and certainly not part of the OFFICIAL DUTIES of POTUS. That role is set out for the individual states and for Congress to make new federal laws on the matter.

He obviously fears the honest vote of the citizen and is intent, by way of an imperial presidency, to unlawfully usurp the role of Congress, the limitations of the constitution and the Presidential vote procedure to retain hold of the Oval Office. He's made the first move by bringing a section of the U.S military on to the streets bearing arms for an illegitimate purpose without much protest from the populace, opening the door himself for more, extreme, measures by was of another executive order.

To the folks in the U.S., you may be looking at the dying days of the U.S Democratic Republic and watching it's rebirth as a dictatorship under a self-styled president for life, Donald the first.

Those executive orders won't be allowed to stand , but what they will do is provide air cover to all the GOP controlled States to implement those rules exactly.

Every single GOP controlled states (especially those with control of all branches of Government) will implement those rules as soon as he puts pen to paper on those orders. And whilst all the Democrat controlled States will refuse and likely win their cases in court all that will do is further fuel his line of bullsh!t that Democrats are stealing the elections.

So when the GOP wins landslide victories in all those massively rigged and gerrymandered States , he'll claim that he and the GOP would have won in just the same fashion everywhere else if it wasn't for the corrupt Democrats allowing mail in voting and letting immigrants vote without ID.

He'll send in the military to the Democrat states to "keep the Elections safe" and swamp the polling stations with ICE agents who will harass and detain every black/brown person they see and generally intimidate anyone not clearly voting for Trump.

    The US is done.

Who would have thought it could be toppled so easily ?
How many other ‘democracies’ are built on similar sand?

    Very few to be honest…

That's not to say that everywhere doesn't need to be vigilant against the rise of wanna-be Autocrats , but the US system certainly facilitates it better than most.

The fact that almost every single position of authority , however trivial are elected positions and subject to partisan action makes things a whole lot easier there than it might be elsewhere.

It's the sycophancy that gets me. I've been hearing for decades how politicians are all no good, crooked, in it for themselves, etc… Then you see this sh*tshow where this creature is worshipped almost as a God. There are whole tracts on the bible about the worship of idols and false gods and these are thrown to the wind by those who spend the most time talking about their faith the most.

The foreigner residing among you must be treated as your native-born. Love them as yourself, for you were foreigners in Egypt. I am the LORD your God.

    Leviticus 19:34

I'd have thought it very hard but he has gotten his way so far. His excluding the U.S Military from his Postal Vote executive order plan is a clear attempt to buy them off from scuppering his order by "refusing to obey a clearly unlawful order" as it were. It would not, IMO, be safe to assume that Trump is only kite-flying, to test how the wind will blow but if he is, I hope the wind becomes a typhoon and blows his house down around his ears.

I wouldn't have much hope of the judiciary at the top of the food chain taking the initiative and stepping in to stop him dead in the water. To anyone who would feel like responding that SCOTUS is limited in ability and obligation when it comes to stopping what Trump has stated he is intent on doing, argue your case before the U.S voter lobby, not here, I am not interested. It's them he intends robbing the vote from, not us.

Compo for the Jan 6 "rioters" suit. The New York Times reports that on Thursday, Mark McCloskey, a lawyer for the rioters, stated during a public social media meeting that he recently met with senior officials at the Justice Department and proposed a plan to establish a special panel that would award financial damages to the rioters — inspired by the appointment of a special master to disburse funds to victims of the September 11, 2001, terrorist attacks.

The panel, which McCloskey called a “voluntary nonjudicial resolution committee,” would review rioters’ cases individually, he said, then assign them amounts based on the harms they claimed to have suffered from the federal government. He would want it to be led by Jeanine Pirro, now in charge of the District of Columbia federal prosecutor’s office that filed charges against the almost 1,600 people who took part in the attack on Congress.

McCloskey first came into the public eye in 2020 when he pointed an AR-15-style rifle at social justice protesters outside his home in St. Louis in the aftermath of the murder of George Floyd by police officers in Minneapolis. Now, the Missouri lawyer has joined forces with Peter Ticktin, a former classmate and a lawyer with close connections to Trump, and since March has been leading efforts to secure reparations for the rioters, with plans to sue the government.

Disconnected from whatever shite he puts out, but in terms of election security, paper ballots would be a bulwark against manipulation of voting machines. The less electronics involved with voting, the better imo.

It seems feelings are more important than facts. Crime rates are actually dropping by significant numbers. For example murder rates in Louisiana are 4 times higher than California. You don’t hear that on Fox or other right wing outlets.

Republicans are a real problem though:

Accusing others of “classless drivel” in a Trump thread…industrial grade irony right there folks.

I dunno, I'd say Giuliani was pretty classless, though you can hardly blame his bodyguard for the quality of his press announcements, he wasn't employed for his PR skills.

It's pretty telling this past weekend that the heads of countries with populations totalling 3.5B met for a security conference in the Far East and meanwhile, rumours abound about Trump who appears, at the very least, to have gone AWOL.

And outside of that that the US us reneging on its commitment made at the foundation of the UN that it would grant visas to prospective attendees as it denies visas to Palestinian delegates ahead of the security council gathering in a couple of weeks.

America has moved in the polar opposite direction from what Trump and his supporters have been claiming in that it has have its leadership position in the world and the respect that comes with that.

After all the talk of Biden's health during the election, it would be hilariously ironic if Trump dies before him.
