I have to remind myself that 77 million Americans voted for Trump.
however given the lack of knowledge of many many Americans, I’d guess that at least 70 million would do so again

Always thought India was the largest democracy in the World.

At this rate, they’ll be voting for a corpse.

I do chuckle for all the grief Biden got for his health and so on, Trumps decline is probably more evident and impactful than Biden. At least Biden had intelligent people around him.

Theres no equivalency imo. Even at the end, Biden could answer complicated questions in detail. Trump has literally never managed that.

The Brennan Center for Justice estimates that 21.3 million U.S. citizens lack readily available proof of citizenship, raising concerns about potential disenfranchisement.

Voting rights groups have expressed particular concerns about married women who changed their names, as their birth certificates list maiden names

"Most of the 1,300 Voice of America journalists had already been fired or remained on paid leave prior to these layoffs. Only 100 journalists and other staff members remain employed by the organization. Before the downsizing, Voice of America was responsible for broadcasting news in 49 languages to 360 million people every week, including in Russia and China. Now, the network airs programming in four languages: Persian, Mandarin, Dari and Pashto."

VoA 49 languages now down to 4. Or 3 if you consider Dari to be the Afghanistan version of Persian. Or 2 if you consider that Pashto is another Afghanistani language and there's a huge overlap of speakers.

Biden clearly had issues and he absolutely should not have tried to run again. However, his main problem was that he came across as frail. Trump still now retains a certain bombast that somehow makes everyone look past the reality that is clearly not all there. Basically he's going senile far more loudly.

But yeah, in a two horse race I'd still take Biden today over him - not just for his politics but also for his mental capacity. But it was a stupid race.

    Couldn't put it past them.

Have him stuffed and stand him on stage with a tape player hung around his neck.

"The Democrats are a nest of communists!"

    (cheers)

aide walks up and presses fast forward, stop and then play.

    "Hillary Clinton is crooked."

    (cheers)

    And so on.

Is there a prize for aligning common enemies? He’d be a shoe in for that.

From AP. Trump is getting generally poor marks from voters for the way he is trying to address crime by using the military, but on the other hand, he is getting good marks for at least addressing the fact that the voters see an issue.

    Apnews.com/article/trump-democrats-crime-ap-norc-poll-8ffcf69792b80f1e1aaed892d4253b50

“The findings underscore the challenge facing Democratic leaders. They must thread the needle between criticizing Trump’s policies, which are deeply unpopular among their base, while at the same time not dismissing widespread concerns about safety, which are amplified in many news sources and in online forums like Facebook and the popular Nextdoor app.

That could create a vulnerability for the party heading into next year’s midterm elections.”

    I'm sorry - what?

    1000017053.jpg

    Firstly - thoughts and prayers.

Secondly, this is bull$hit. Far far more likely is he was drunk driving or was pulling over for a prostitute...

    Christ what a statement 😂

On what basis have you decided that he was either drunk driving or pulling for a prostitute.

I've no idea if that's the case but neither do you apart from some sort of personal bias. Maybe you do have evidence but produce it.

Yeah, a bit of a logical leap … but in the context of the message, which links two entirely separate events in the one message, not entirely unjustified!

Since when have we been getting hour-by-hour reports of Giuliani's evening activities? I'd say … umm … never. So all we really needed to know (if we needed to know at all) was "Giuliani in hospital after highway crash". The domestic violence story is completely irrelevant in this context.

Ya that doesn't excuse in any way the statement made.

Couldn't give a fiddlers about the guy in question…but there are some standards required in any discussion aside from that kind of nonsense posting.

    Facts for a start.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,040 ✭✭✭ceadaoin.

Maybe it was the perpetrator of the domestic violence who purposely crashed into him after he stopped to help? In that case it is relevant. It kind of seems like they are suggesting that by including it

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 23,464 ✭✭✭✭extra gravy

We all know Giuliani and facts don't go together, he's a liar and a cheat. Wouldn't believe a word of any statements put out by him or his "staff."

I assume that the law in the US is that in all road traffic accidents that ALL sides are breathalyser - unless Trump has issued an EO that the option of not doing so exists

Per the local police, a vehicle crossed the median and hit the car Rudi was a passenger in. They've stated that it had nothing to do with the DV victim Rudi's car stopped to help. Just an accident and a bad one, crossing the median to me sounds like a head-on, ourch. Rudi has a fracture of the spine.

It's definitely giving strong "Get something out there quick before the story breaks" vibes for sure.

It reads a lot like one of those statements that David Walliams "politician" character used to do on Little Britain.

  • Moderators, Politics Moderators, Social & Fun Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 17,416 Mod ✭✭✭✭Quin_Dub

Also.. The official reports from the Police somewhat contradict the story.

"RUDY GIULIANI SERIOUSLY INJURED IN A CRASH ON 93 NORTH LAST NIGHT BETWEEN EXIT 8 AND 9 - The NH State Police is investigating a crash that left three people injured, including a passenger identified as former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani Saturday night.

Manchester Fire was dispatched at 9:53pm to 93N at Mm 23.2 for an Accident W/ Injuries which is between exits 8 and 9.

Just before 10 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 30, 2025, Troopers assigned to the Troop B barracks were investigating a reported domestic violence incident on Interstate 93 southbound in Manchester when a two-vehicle crash occurred across from them on the northbound side of the interstate. As a result of the collision, both vehicles went into the median and were heavily damaged.

Troopers and fire personnel, who were at the scene of the first incident, witnessed the collision and quickly crossed the interstate to render aid.

The on-scene investigation determined that a Honda HR-V, driven by Lauren Kemp, 19, of Concord, struck the back of a Ford Bronco, driven by Theodore Goodman, of Michigan. Kemp and Goodman, as well as Giuliani, Goodman's passenger, suffered non-life-threatening injuries and were taken by ambulance to area hospitals for treatment. Lanes on both sides of interstate 93 were closed for approximately one hour while the crash was investigated.

No charges have been filed at this time and all aspects of the crash remain under investigation. Anyone with information that may assist the investigation is asked to contact Sgt. Mark Dore at (603) 223-4381."

So the "Domestic Violence" incident was on the other side of the dual carriageway and the police were already there when Guilianis vehicle was rear ended on the other side of the road.

The driver of his vehicle perhaps slowed down to rubber neck and the following driver didn't see that in time and ran in to them

But , the story of him stopping to render aid and waiting for the police etc. doesn't seem to hold water at all.

Trump now ACTUALLY saying to Israel to ‘ get the job done’ and the sooner the better. Ie completely wipe Hamas off the face of the earth. So Israel is going to first bomb the S—t out of The remaining Palestine enclave ie Gaza city. This being done to reduce IDF casualties. Then move in with ‘BIG MACHINERY ‘ to mop up any remaining resistance and BOB’s YOUR UNCLE.

I CANNOT IMAGINE the death and destruction caused. Especially the death of innocent civilians including CHILDREN and the remaining hostages who are still alive

. I am sure that the relatives of the hostages that are already dead and as yet not returned will want them returned,, imagine trying to find any body under all the rubble and to try to and identify it

And Trump has ABSOLUTLY NO PROBLEM with all of this killing yet he got so upset with the two children shot dear in a church in. American last week and asking all of us to join him in prayers for the deceased

And his attitude to all the recent killing in Ukr by Ru missiles/drones - and especially in Kiev including 4 children

Ie ‘ I am not happy but I am not surprised’ . Then move in word ‘SANCTIONS’ was given a rest this time

I have read a few book on Trump and Rudy seems to be in a constant state of inebriation, he likes to start his day with two bloody Mary’s. So it’s likely he was quite drunk during whatever this incident was.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2, Paid Member Posts: 37,414 ✭✭✭✭Penn

It seems very much like "Rudy is actually the hero in the story, and you shouldn't question it".

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 22,542 ✭✭✭✭everlast75

Perhaps you should become the arbiter of what is posted and what is not. Maybe under your stewardship Boards.ie will thrive!

Anyway, the following are facts about Rudi.

    1. He has an alcohol problem. There are many incidents in which he was pissed at Board meetings. One such example is how he looks completely out of it in the photo I posted with his hair dye running down his face.
    2. He is grossly incompetent and manages to get himself in outrageous and farcical situations. Four Seasons landscaping comes to mind.
    3. He is a serial liar. He tried to destroy the lives of Ruby Freeman and her daughter Shaye Moss with scurrilous lies which resulted in a monster defamation settlement. He was also letting off COVID farts while getting bounced out of every court room for trying to spread the big lie about the elections.
    4. He is being sued for sexual assault and separately was caught on camera fumbling around in this underwear at the thoughts of hooking up with a girl decades his junior.

Finally, the first paragraph of his statement has absolutely nothing to do with the remainder and comes across as a preemptive PR move to cover what comes next.

Elect a clown... Expect a circus

Giuliani's head of security specified that the crash was entirely unrelated. Even explicitly said it wasn't a targeted attack.

  • Moderators, Politics Moderators, Social & Fun Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 17,416 Mod ✭✭✭✭Quin_Dub

Or, it's establishing a seemingly legitimate reason for Rudi being in that vicinity at that place and time.

If Rudi was the one who called the police and waited for them to arrive, they'd have said that.

The person who called the police to a potentially serious incident and waited for them to arrive ,almost immediately getting in a car accident as they left the scene is something that is 100% pertinent to the story.

Instead they simply say "officers were dealing with an earlier incident when a car crash occurred on the other side of the motorway, which turned out to involve Rudi".

Yeah…there is a shoe somewhere waiting to drop
