Do we think they will extend the tour or do 2026 shows?

I would love to see them do a Bond theme for a Chris Nolan Bond film

Sorry, I know I'm dragging up a very old post from the thread, but I think Noel has a brilliant voice. Tenor / almost falsetto at times. Very unique and part of the reason Liam doesn't sing certain songs on record is because they suit Noels voice better. Same reason they don't play songs like She's Electric live, Liam could nail it in studio (one of his best vocals imo) but night after night on tour is killer for a baritone singing a tenor line. Noels voice has got deeper with age, he's a top quality, consistent vocalist.

From seeing a lot of pictures from the shows in Croke Park and curious to know was there any sections in the stands that had a perfect non obstructed view of the stage ?

Those speaker towers seemed to be obstructing a lot of viewpoints

Noel's songs were probably my favourite part of the night - Little By Little and Half The World Away were really brilliant. Don't Look Back In Anger too

No, I got a ticket on resale. Had no issue with paying the price as I know a lot of my friends had paid similar. Having a ticket for the gig well in advance of the shows kicking off and the great reviews made it even more worth it. I know a good few who only started looking for tickets when the Cardiff show kicked off and the rave reviews that followed.

Was brilliant to be part of the whole experience. Money will always come and go.

To my right of the view there was a speaker for the pitch. I only noticed it when I looked back at the pictures of it.

It didn't have any impact on the day.

Everyone who wasn't there : "It can't have been that good, too much money, bad views, Liam Gallagher is a prick, yada yada".

Everyone who was there : "Absolutely amazing, worth every penny, who cares what Liam Gallagher is, best concert ever".

Is the pop up shop still open ?

Don't know if anyone else on here got the merchandise and exhibition ticket, but if anyone has, have you received your merch box yet?

I wasn't there, I was in the, 'I would pay the 200 if I got one camp', I never got one.

I think the pre sales and resales and dynamic sales and secret codes if you set up an email address also just leave a bad taste. I was on their mailing list since whenever they hit the interwebs in the noughties and seemed to get no codes.

Gigs looked amazing and I have major FOMO but that does not mean the prices were justified. And saying, 'I would have paid double' is only feeding the beast.

I think Liam Gallagher seems like a right sound skin any time I've seen him.

I do have one other petty quip, which kind of eases the pain of it all….the fancy dress element, the bucket hats and adidas gear…..like Oasis and the Manchester scene had massive influence on style back in the day and still influence my own clothes to my wifes annoyance but what was on show at the weekend was more like what seems to happen at a Taylor swift gig.

    Petty little dig I know.

I will leave him so if that's OK. They are both assholes for allowing the dynamic pricing ("We knew nothing about it", yeah sure) but at least Noel had the decency to keep schtum about it. To go on social media and on stage laughing at people for paying it and abusing those who criticised it says a lot about this guy. He is completely talentless anyway and if it wasn't for his brother's song-writing ability nobody would ever have heard of him.

Talentless? You couldn't pay me 500 million to go on stage in front of 80k and try to entertain and captivate them as a showman with real presence, even if I was miming with backing vocals.

Talent comes in plenty of forms

I agree, he is definitely up there as one of the great front men of the last 50 years. I would probably have Freddie Mercury as the greatest, with Mick Jagger, Axel Rose, Jim Morrison, Roger Daltrey, Johnny Rottten, Robert Plant notable others. To be a great frontman you need to have a bit or maybe a lot of swagger, cockiness, even be dislikeable, and Liam has all of those traits.

In Fairness you couldn't leave Bono off that list

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,140 ✭✭✭PGE1970

I found it funny at the gig that 80% of the attendees were wearing merchandise.

I remember thinking that Noel must be on stage thinking, as he looked at the crowd, that another couple of million was coming his way from merch sales!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 367 ✭✭gilly1910

My issue with Bono is that he is devoid of any personality, whether it's cockiness, swagger or just been a mad bast**d, Bono has none of those.

Bono has a sort of dark , nerdy, needy, bizarre need for love and validation...

Bono is flawed from childhood loss...sort of damaged, looking for love.

    Bono is relatable for many..

But whatever you think of Bono , he can get a crowd in the palm of his hand and has bizarre energy (most his life)

Think it was kinda cool...they sort of have a uniform.

Better than the pointless black t-shirt with concert dates seen at most other events..

It added to the collective feel

The merch is class. Loads of negatrons in here who are clearly miffed they didnt go. Theres enough shite to be miserable about day to day, God forbid people go out, get dressed up and enjoy a brilliant night of music.

Look. The long and the short of it is:

Nobody put a gun to people's heads to pay what they paid for the tickets.

They paid willingly. Would they have preferred less? Sure. Would they have paid more? Possibly. But they paid what they were willing to pay. I haven't heard a complaint about the concert in general from those who attended. Sure, opinions on the Gallaghers etc. Whatever. People are entitled to their opinions. I have not looked through all the posts but I have not heard anyone posting saying they wasted their money. (I'm sure suddenly there could be LOADS who were "there" after I post this. suddenly the crowd went from 80K happy to 80K Happy and 120K NOT happy. Some size, that Croker).

But people paid what they were willing to pay. That's THEIR money. THEIR choice. THEIR opinion on what THEY consider value.

I paid over 400. As this was JUST before Ticketmaster Touting (But expecting it) I actually got much better value than others. But it was still over 400 quid. It was MY money and I was satisfied with what I got. I have paid more for less. I have seen people pay thousands to go to football matches in the UK. And I don't mean going over for a holiday. I mean flying over. Bus to hotel. Hotel to match. Match to hotel. couple of beers. Bus to airport and flights home. THEY feel that was worth it.

For years I didn't go on holidays. I would buy something instead. New TV, phone or something. But there is only so much tat you can buy. I was at this with a mate. The last time I saw Oasis was decades ago. This meant a lot to me as the person I was SUPPOSED to see this show with was one of the mates I saw them with last. However he died 3 months ago. So I went to this show. I enjoyed the show. I was heartbroken that my best friend wasn't with me but knew he'd have enjoyed it. And THAT was certainly worth 400 poxy quid. (And no, I'm not "wealthy").

You can't take it with you and life is for living. I'm sure glad I went to that concert instead of leaving 400 quid extra in my bank account in 20 years to be divided up when I die. What will those people do with an extra 30 or 40 quid?

Not a single person who went to the gig is saying anything negative. They all had a great time.

Only those who didn't go are, days later, still crying. And I don't blame them.

If i'd missed out on Oasis at the weekend, knowing everyone had the time of their lives, seeing all the stuff on social media and the amazing videos of singalongs outside the stadium, the pints int he sun, the spirit of the day……….. i'd be grumpy too!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 970 ✭✭✭FazyLucker

Agree with every line, and sorry to hear about your friend. Lots of people who were there had a story to tell.

And yes, like you say it was everybody deciding "this is going to be worth it" when the forked out €400-500. I haven't met anybody who felt short changed after it which says it all.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 970 ✭✭✭FazyLucker

And on the topic of all the 90's tat merchandise and Adidas clobber, for so many of us it was reliving our youth.

This was a throwback concert. Back to simpler times for us. Even the phones weren't a major problem at the gig, it was 80k people singing along to 90s beat and remembering when we first got that Definitely Maybe or whatever album.

I haven't been to a Taylor Swift concert but I can't imagine it was even remotely like the other night but others can correct me if I'm wrong on that.

Denis Villeneuve making next Bond film so you can rule that out as be at least 5 years before there might be a Nolan Bond film

Being part of it was special, no one will care how much they spent on the whole thing when they’re talking about it for years to come. They’re churning out so much Dublin content at the moment, it’s class.

There's two things there. I think the dynamic pricing is absolutely gouging in principle and ticketmaster are sneaky bastards.

But I was also happy to pay what I paid. Money is not the only thing in the word. It's a few hours work.

That's the case for all reports I've heard.
I wasn't there, I'm going in November. And those reports are massively increasing my anticipation.
