I'd imagine Croke Park and Slane are the only viable options on the island for a band with the demand of Oasis. Really you don't want anything less than 80k, and I think they are the only two (established) venues that can accommodate.

Will Bohs bring out another jersey to mark the occasion? 😉

Maybe they'd actually get to wear this one.....

    Agree with all of that.

Zoo TV was absolutely revolutionary, it set the benchmark for modern stadium gigs, that tour was at least 20 years ahead of its time.

Even the screen Oasis are using, U2 were the first act to use that carbon fibre frame screen for the Joshua Tree Anniversary tour. Oasis made alot better use of the screen though.

Saturday night was brilliant, a great atmosphere but Ive been to alot of great gigs over the years, I don't really rank them, so many great ones.

If nitpicking Oasis should prob have had a b stage and a walkway for people further back in the stadium perhaps.

Yes I thought the main weakness was they should have had a walkway further back along the pitch as well. But maybe you lose a not insignificant amount of standing space if you have it? The last thing we wanted was less tickets!

B stage wouldn't really be Oasis' thing.

What song do people reckon will be the release from Dublin?

None of them had a crystal ball. Most of the free world supported Aung San Suu Kyi before she turned into a despot. By your logic, nobody should have supported the struggle against apartheid because the post apartheid black majority governments have had problems with corruption.

Noels songs would have been good for the B stage.

Im not sure which song they will release but they have pitch corrected the previous releases which is disappointing.

I'd hope for Stand By Me. I cant stop thinking about how incredible it felt to be in there on Sunday during that song.

Wonderwall based on the snippet they’ve shared on socials today.

Was hoping it would be 'Stand by Me' given the backdrop of it but Wonderwall a great substitute

Great words from Ashcroft here and he’s right.

I was in the circle for that gig, the concert was amazing but they spent a good 10mins wheeling out a load of teenagers wearing Aung San Suu Kyi masks! I'd say most of the crowd including myself hadn't a clue what that was about at the time and then years later it turned out they backed the wrong horse! I'd say they are a lot more careful about what current cause they bandwagon on now. Definetely should take the Gallagher approach, less on stage chat and more music.

I'm not trying to be a WUM and it's entirely a person's own business how they decide to spend their money but I would just like to get people's opinions.

For people who went to these gigs (regardless of whether they bought a general admission ticket or a "dynamically priced" ticket) ;read these two links and tell me do you regret buying a ticket or not:

I personally wouldn't give this c### a cup of tea never mind the price of a ticket (even if it was a reasonable price). He is absolute vermin.

I paid €505.85 for my ticket.

It's probably the best €505.85 I've ever spent. If I'd paid twice that, I'd still be happy! Incredible show and experience.

Money comes and goes. I'll earn more and I'll spend loads more. I've gone to weddings where I've spent €500+ on a gift and a hotel room before I've had a chance to have a beer. I've spent €500+ on a car service that finds I need a new thingamy-bob and a replacement whackadoodle. I've spent €500+ on a TV for a spare room that rarely gets used.

It's extremely rare that I can spend €500 and watch my favourite band growing up, one I've been following since 1994, reunite and play the songs of my youth whilst experiencing that with 80,000 others on a warm summer weekend in Dublin. I've been to hundreds of gigs and it's hands-down the best I've ever experienced.

No, I do not regret buying a ticket.

Paid 150 each for Manchester and Dublin Saturday.

My only regret now is not paying 500 for the Sunday as well.

The value of absolutely everything is determined by the person willing to pay it.

What are you expecting here? The thread is populated by people who've gone to the gigs, and 95% of us are reporting back that it was probably the greatest thing we've ever witnessed

Are you expecting everyone to read a couple of jokes we've all read months ago, that are completely in keeping with his character, and suddenly go "FCUK THAT, I am actually sorry I paid money towards them pair, how very DARE he. Il try forget about the magical night with family and friends and il never be duped again"

I paid face value for Edinburgh, Dublin, and Sydney. Zero regrets and I’d have paid the dynamic pricing for Croker if that’s what was required. I wasn’t missing this reunion for anything and made that clear to my then heavily pregnant fiancée when tickets went on sale!

Anything Liam says should be taken with a pinch of salt anyway, he’s playing the game and giving the red tops the sound bite they crave. He’s been very humble and thankful to the fans in any direct interactions I’ve seen. Love the man.

Does anyone that paid 500+ feel shortchanged?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 703 ✭✭✭Pete Moss

Not bothered at all by the cost of the ticket. No regrets at all. It was worth it. I appreciate everyone has their own value system. I'd mates who had similar views to you and wouldn't pay to see them. Same people would happily spend similar amounts on cans to drink at home over the course of a month or two, or on cigarettes over the course of a few months, or throw it into a Paddy Power account. None of that's my thing and to each his own.

The show I was at was fantastic. Well worth the money and I'd pay it again if I knew I'd get the same experience.

If you didn't go to the show, then you won't have understood the value in attending. Essentially, you had to be there, mate. You just had to be there.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 19,645 ✭✭✭✭MrStuffins

Nope. Last wedding I attended the hotel room was €300. Over half way there already.

Last time I had my car serviced it needed some filler replaced and some other falangey that needed an upgrade. Cost me more than my ticket.

Last time I went to do a "big" shop it was almost €250 and I shop in Aldi.

I can guarantee you there's nothing about any of the things above that will give me the same feeling as I had at Oasis ......... unless I had spent the whole €250 I dropped in Aldi on Okey Dokeys. Those things are delicious!

I paid face value for Resale Standing, 204 euro I think.

It was alot, I wouldnt have paid dynamic prices purely on principle.

I never have and I never will, Ive seen most of the greats, alot up close and never spent more than 100-150 euro.

Oasis must be the most expensive ticket Ive ever bought actually, by a bit of a distance too, great show, thoroughly enjoyed it but no I wouldnt pay 500 euro for any act.
