I bought two tickets at that price for each of them; one for myself and one for my son. He's a huge Oasis fan having had no option because of the music that I played at home/in the car when he was young.

It was a simply brilliant gig and has given us a memory of a lifetime together and one for him after I've gone.

    It was well worth it.

That's deadly, I love that. Priceless experience for you both

On principle, I said I would never pay those extortionate ticket prices. I said I would never pay anything like that. I'd pay €100 for a band that I really like. And that's it. And I hardly even tried for Oasis tickets, cause I knew I wouldn't be in that mix. And since then I started thinking about all of the shite things that I spent my money on over the past 3 months of summer. And it is many multiples of the €300 I could probably have gotten an Oasis ticket for. Giving couple of 70 euros for various dinners out with the kids, when didn't really need to. Buying crap from the coffee shop every day. Smoking too many fags. Going to funfairs with the kids and getting ripped off. Going on a what seemed to be an efficient sun holiday with the family, and then spending money on anything that moved whilst there for the week, just cause "we're on hols".

Anyway, I didn't regret Coldplay last year, but do regret not going to Oasis this year.

My Manchester ticket cost me €610 (presume was through a ticket broker as it was part of a travel package) and got absolutely steeped in picking up a €94.05 resale for Croke Park

Money well spent, enjoyed the buzz around for both concerts

Would i go again in 2026 ? Possibly but atm only do it if I got a face value ticket

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,140 ✭✭✭PGE1970

€500 per ticket was face value for me through TM!

Will I pay it if they play next year? I doubt it; I've had the concert with my son (his first time seeing them as they broke up when he was four) and I've seen them since the 1990s and both Noel & Liam solo.

But I'd pay up to €200 especially if a quality support act like Richard Ashcroft was playing.

I paid €1000 for two tickets because of my son and because it may have been a one off reunion. But not at that price again.

Put it this way, if you told me now that The Smiths would play again (notwithstanding Andy Rourke RIP), I'd hand over a grand now and not even blink an eye.

Ticket cost me €596 (it was a good seat at least), bus was €43 and dinner was €20. Total spend was €659. I don't regret it. Had a lot going on the in the last year so didn't feel bad about the money. I would have found other ways to spend it anyway, probably on crap.

The JJ Kavanagh bus was a good service even if the USB charging was a bit of a pain (when it worked)

On other reunions not sure what could square up to Oasis. REM possibly, White Stripes would be big enough, Talking Heads and Led Zeppelin not happening but The partial Smiths reunion would be huge especially as they have a youngish following

Was in the pop up store today and they had Navy and Black Adidas Firebird tops from size L up.

The navy ones had the Dublin, Ireland on them.

There was the long sleeved navy and light blue Adidas top too with the Dublin, Ireland on it. Again size L and up I think

I'm surprised at young people following The Smiths. My son was at Morrissey's gig in May and said that it was half and half his age and my age.

I've stopped going to see him because the 15 poor songs are not made up by the five bangers from The Smiths and his earlier solo stuff. But he still pulls a decent crowd.

Is it a Tiktok or social media thing?

I ended up getting standing tickets in the late release on Thursday evening for 170e and I was thrilled beyond belief. I would have paid 500 but not this year as I have a lot going on. Overall I wouldn't nit have regretted 500 if I didn't pay it but I think dynamic pricing is totally unethical and should be made illegal. Imagine seeing a top in Zara for example for 50e and when you go to the till its 90e. Its totally absurd.

My 17 year old son is Smiths mad too. That's with no influence whatsoever from me. Think he asked me one day if I knew them. Great to see young people still getting into them.

Was lucky enough to get face value Oasis standing tickets in the presale for us last year. Felt a bit ripped off at the time, then saw what they were going for the next day and felt a bit better! We had an absolute blast. Thought I could take or leave the reunion until I saw how amazing the early gigs looked. The anticipation of these gigs was like nothing I've ever seen before and they absolutely lived up to it.

Is there any social media video footage from the after party in O'Donoghues? Appreciate any links

Was thinking of reunions left to happen where everyone is still alive and realistically only one for me would be a Radiohead of the first 3 albums only.

Ones that won't happen are Smiths/ABBA/Talking Heads/R.E.M. already confirmed by all involved

Lot of the Seattle scene are still there in some shape with other singers, except Soundgarden.

This was the last 90s britpop revival moment, it has hit peak now. The likes of Suede and Blur etc. have already been ticking over the last decade, Oasis have capped it. Where to now???

I know is life and this band line up was designed for quality and perhaps who would get on with all involved / no drama..

But is there anyone who should feel hard done by not in line up ?

Must be guys out there missing out on a serious money spinner that this is.

But i guess in music industry you make your own luck...

The Smiths is the big one but it won't happen.

Fergal Sharkey with The Undertones would be one for me but, again, won't happen.

Another reunion of That Petrol Emotion would also do for me but that's a niche market!

Sex Pistols with Johnny Rotten is another one but doesn't seem possible

Stone Roses been there done that

I thought Croke Park being where Croke Park is really added something to the gig, locals really bought into it and were out in their gardens enjoying the atmosphere.

Have Maxi and Twink ever reformed?

I think people misunderstood what I was asking. I wasn't asking about the extortionate ticket prices (which is a disgrace on it's own), I was asking did they mind the lead singer of the band mocking and indeed verbally abusing those who paid those extortionate prices?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 970 ✭✭✭FazyLucker

I spent €180 on a ticket and no joke if you put another zero on the end I'd still say it was good value.

I'm not rich by any means - even €180 is a lot of money and I'm often ploughing a lone furrow regarding things like the Dublin Half Marathon charging a €5/10 lottery entry fee and not saying how many entries they are raffling! (Not getting in to that here!). So I'm by no means flashy or spendy or wasteful.

But Saturday night, I felt I was part of something I will take to the grave with me. It was incredibly special. I didn't quite get the opportunity to share it will children or grandkids, etc but I will tell them about it some day.

I work with lots of people who spend €5 a day on coffee, breakfast rolls, weekends away, etc. A weekend in any city in Europe, €500 say. People spend hundreds of euro go over to see English football teams where players have a much more dismissive attitude to those paying their wages than Liam Gallagher ever will. Players earning €350k a week sulking or refusing to play right midfield while a fan earns £350 a week working on a bin lorry to pay the footballers wages. None of that has any appeal to me.

I've yet to meet anybody who was there say they regretted it. I've been to other gigs where I thought it was poor, one very famous Irish band mentioned already in this thread I thought were really average. Saturday was, in the words of Jimmy Magee, different class. Different class.

His whole shtick is about being abrasive I guess. It’s a bit like football fans looking the other way when their 30 goal a season striker behaves poorly. It’s all about the greater good.

Liam Gallagher is a prick. An unashamed, unapologetic prick. Doesn't give a flying F what you or I think. He is what he is, take him or leave him.

Give me him over so many of the self-righteous, pontificating knobs in the music industry. Preaching to us like they are on a pulpit holier than thou.

Get up and sing your songs, that's what you are being paid to do. Honestly, I don't care what Liam Gallagher says about anything or anybody or when he said it.

One of the articles above is from last year, so I think its fair to say nobody who went gave a toss what he said!

had no ticket at the start of last week then my brother offered me his wife’s one, on Friday I was offered two box tickets, turned them down as I felt it won’t be the same atmosphere, didn’t bring the wife and I didn’t it won’t be the same atmosphere as both won’t have gone near the top but yea both were token fans while those around me seemed very knowledgeable

While I think a Smiths reunion would be interesting I just can’t see it happening. Morrissey just has too long and consistent a record of being unreliable. Nearly all of his professional relationships end in disaster. He has cancelled an insane amount of gigs over his career for all sorts of reasons and walked away from tours because something didn’t suit him.

I’d imagine the Gallagher brothers at some point had to convincingly reassure promoters or insurers that they could be trusted not to fall out and complete the tour. No doubt there was huge jeopardy for them built into the contracts to do this.

Morrissey is just not dependable when it comes to live shows.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,140 ✭✭✭PGE1970

It's Johnny Marr who won't do it. Morrissey mentioned that they have been offered a huge amount of money to play again but Johnny point blank turned down.

Morrissey has become something of a right wing dinosaur which would be the polar opposite of Johnny's politics.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 970 ✭✭✭FazyLucker

They are probably paying the Gallaghers at the end of the tour, like you do with a 12 year old cutting the lawn. "Do the whole thing and then I'll pay you".

    Completely agree with this.

I was pissed off with myself for justifying the terrible decision made to use dynamic pricing, by paying over €400 for each ticket. Battled with myself up until about a month before the gig about whether I should just sell the tickets. . I'm glad now that I didn't given how the day turned out.

The way Noel spoke about River Plate on talksport showed he is mentally going to be there regardless, I think the spotlight was on Liam and he has shown he has his **** together.

In hindsight this Liam in the US in the late 90s and who knows what would have happened, suppose we never might have heard of NGHFB.

Hard to believe it’s nearly been a year since the comeback announcement. Funny reading back on some of the comments on the opening pages here. Some of the opinions offered were so far off the mark to what actually happened.
Rollercoaster of emotions in relation to this gig over the past 12 months.
Excitement hearing the news, pissed off not getting a pre-sale code, hope followed by anger on the day of the sale, remorse for buying an in-demand resale ticket, joy at getting two face value resale tickets, relief at seeing Cardiff, anticipation last Saturday morning, awe on Saturday night and a massive comedown on Sunday morning knowing it couldn’t be replicated.
For me, only Daft Punk coming back could possibly come close but I highly doubt it.

Yeah it's crazy how it all went so quick

Few of those earlier comments and advice didnt come to fruition like the stage been the 'run of the mill normal one' and 'tickets been plentiful nearer the gigs' etc

Let's hope the documentary/concert recording will be out sooner rather than later. We have seen bands release recordings while the tour we're still ongoing
