Yeah you need to set departure time(even if you're not needing it),set charging to off peak only.lt should come up on the car screen as well, ie scheduled charging on when you plug the car in.There's a you tube video explaining it as well, good luck👍

I changed it to prioritise off peak only, plugged it in and now it says charging scheduled for 11.30pm tonight. Happy days, that must have been it...

Will wait for the ownership transfer before getting into Hyundai for the bluelink setup.

    12-9 during summer, right?

i had problems with bluelink when i bought my new ioniq 5 a few years ago. I emailed hyundai-account at hyundai-europe dot com

they got back pretty quickly ( 1 pr 2 days and done sort of reset to my account)

First off I would try deleting and reinstalling the app from all phones and resetting the comms on the dash panel (need a pin to press the reset button). Oh after changing your password dont try to login until maybe 30 mins later their servers are ridiculously slow to update

Then email them as they will suggest you do these two first

Either way keep note of that email address someone else posted it here before and it was useful to me but not everyone knows it so good to keep just in case you have problems in the future

    , I am considering buying a

    12 V pump

to pump up a large air tent, this pump plugs into the 12 v socket on the car

I am concerned it may run down my 12 battery on the car. If the car is switched on but in neutral or park, will the 12 vbattery charge from the main battery, or do the wheels need to be moving to charge the 12 car battery

Go to settings & turn on "Utility Mode". It will run the car accessories of the HV battery rather than the 12V battery.

Has anyone placed their toll tag behind the screen had any issues?

you shouldn’t. In my car, it’s in the central arm rest.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 883 ✭✭✭CivilEx

Not when placed on the inside of the windscreen, but I had an issue at the Dublin Port tunnel where I had just got a new windscreen and didn't have the tag back up again. That day I had it left temporarily in the door and it didn't work - had to use a card instead. Worked fine at Enfield from the door, so perhaps some locations are more sensitive than others.

Got the email back from them today, info forward to IT team to add the Bluelink back on. Thanks for that!

They also advised that a SW update is available and sent the link on, so that's another thing on the list.

So, 241 Ioniq 5 and air con stopped working on Thursday. It's blowing out ambient air and not taking anything from the battery when I check. Wednesday night I was at a friend's for 4 hours, forgot to turn off the air con and radio. When trying to go home get the 12v low voltage message. AA guy sorted that with a jump start so to speak. Was wondering if that might have impacted the air con. Brought it to the local dealer and a man took a quick look, reset the infotainment system but no luck. The guys that do the EV work are on holidays until the week after this coming one. It's under warranty so will be sorted but just wondering if anyone has had a similar issue. I've clocked at the Ioniq forum and quite a few in the states seem to have had issues, I'm not a car expert so reading the comments over there can be like trying to read ancient Greek. I know this is very much a first world problem but paid enough for the car for the air con to work.

Using the air con is what you need to do so leaving it running for 4 hours will do no harm.

Why does the garage need EV techs to work on the air con? It's not like the air con in a BEV is massively different to an ICE that they need specific techs for ICE vs BEV and they should not be doing anything near the high voltage cables. They need a HVAC tech not an EV tech.

The car was parked up for the 4 hours. In relation to the garage I was inferring it was EV tech, they told me that it would need to be plugged into the diagnostic and the two guys who do that are on holidays. Once it can be sorted I'll be happy.

First service is due on our IONIQ 5. Just brake fluid change and inspection according to the manual. Lowest quote so far is 320.95. Our original dealer quoted 365.83, of which 264 is labour. I assume this is unavoidable? We’ll be stung with low conductivity coolant on the next one as well…

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 370 ✭✭prosaic

We had 60k service a few months ago. They originally said coolant would need to be changed. I asked if they wuold be testing the conductivity of coolant before changing it and what was acceptable conductivity. They said they tested and that the coolant did not need to be changed. So, that was a nice outcome.

where have people found the cheapest place for replacement tyres, original ones or similar quality ideally. 55,000km now and all 4 need changing for the first time

Oponeo or Tyreleader and pay someone locally to fit them.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 19,162 ✭✭✭✭Del2005

Try a few local tyre places also. A while ago I got Michelins from an authorised dealer for a lot less than the online places, with the added benefits of having them changed the same day.

There's usually a promotion or two running among the tyre brands at different times of the year. Can be lucrative if your timing matches up and you can take advantage of a lower price, a cashback offer, or some temporary incentive to get a good brand on the corners.

    Hi all,

Looking to change my Tucson Diesel to potentially a new Ioniq 5 N-line with a 84kWh battery which I've test driven recently. I was very impressed with the car itself and from reading online it should suit my needs(I commute for work on a round trip of about 110kms per day with potentially free charging at work coming online in next few weeks (apparently there is an offer with energia to get a free home charger too)).

What I would like to ask is can anyone give me their real world experience, what to look out for(first time to potentially buy an EV), best charging strategy etc. I would very much appreciate it. Thanks.

First of all, congrats and good choice. I love the ioniq 5. I assume its very similar to live with as my father's EV6 and my mother recently got a hyundai inster, both at my recommendation so im a fan of the hyundai/kia EVs. Im helping a girl in work maybe buy a used one too, she is quite keen on them once the money is right amd she can get it in right colour/spec etc

Kia/Hyundai have 800v charging which means that you can get seriously quick charging on ultra rapid chargers, I did 2% to 89% in 18 mins on the ev6 the one and only time it has seen a public charger. Ioniq 5 will do the same. My cars would be there for another 10 mins. Nothing really chargers better than the 800v hyundai.

Take the energia offer, pick best tariff for you, at 110km per day id say a night rate is definitely the way to go. Cheap charging at home. Youll need to charge about once every 3 days but can do more often if you want. Probably every 2 days until you get into the swing of it. 84kwh is a very big battery.

On your commute you won't need to ever go near public chargers unless you forget to charge your car or something, but thats something you can control.

You're the perfect use case for an EV, above average mileage so you will save plenty on fuel but won't even remotely trouble your cars range to give you the yips, even in the very worst conditions imaginable, once you remember to charge it.

N Line will be at the top end money so be prepared for some decent depreciation if the used market doesnt pick up or be prepared to hang on to it for a good while. But thats all unknown into the future, general trends on EVs are upwards. Its about the only negative/warning i think I could give you, the rest is very positive.

Which Michelin Dealer ? What size & fitted price ?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 33 niallhy

Thank you for your detailed reply, I really appreciate it.

It's was years ago so the price and sizes are irrelevant. I always check a few places before I buy anything expensive.

It's was Tyre master in Greenhills

My daughter lives in the UK and bought a 2023 Ioniq 5 from a franchised dealer in March. It had 21k miles and had been serviced in April '24 and December '24. It now has only 24k miles. She's getting emails from the dealer saying it's due a service!! Are they right?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 19,162 ✭✭✭✭Del2005

They need an inspection between services. My 1st inspection was free, I also got a software update, and only had its 1st service. Someone else will know if they charge for the 2nd inspection.

Every 30k kms here to maintain the warranty and an optional "inspection" every other 15k kms. I only bother with the 30k intervals as its mandatory to maintain warranty. Total scam to keep the dealer network happy. There simply isnt serviceable parts to necessitate the interval. I have 95K kms on the clock and its been "serviced" 3 times. The battery coolant being particularly expensive. The likes of Tesla only get serviced when the sensors tell you (brake pads etc)
