I think (but don't know) that the algorithm goes easier on kids too

Obviously ad-free is the main one. But there's a Premium feature where it'll skip ads inside videos too, there's a free extension that does the same thing called Sponsor Block for PCs but the YouTube Premium one is built in and now works on TVs too. There's a little pop up and it says something like "moving to commonly skipped section". Since every video nowadays seems to have a section with "this video is sponsored by X", that alone is worth paying the (Turkish!) price for me!

I have a premium account and looking to change to family plan if there is anybody looking for a spot. Will have 4 spots to fill at €5.20 per month

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,967 ✭✭✭✭dulpit

Youtube Premium is €25.99 a month for 6 slots. So it should be €4.33 per slot per month.

misread - thought it was 5 to a family plan. €4.50 per month if anybody interested let me know and I will set up when we get to 6 persons

Excellent stuff. My suggestion is to take payment for a longer period than monthly, it can be a hassle dealing with a bunch of people sending money every month. I took €52 up front for 12 months and stuck the money into a revolut vault. If the price rises before the end of the 12 months we can sort it between ourselves. Just a tip.

thanks Dulpit - 4 spots still available if anybody interested

I'd never go back to free YouTube after using premium. It's that bad TBH with adverts.

I managed to get this charged and added it to my Netflix at least. Had to get onto chat to verify my number and could then load the card. Not the easiest process.

I believe you. I said ī in my last post on this thread, with them going into overkill mode now and tightening loopholes, and their offerings on the platform, it's just not worthwhile anymore value wise.

Syncler or stremio coupled with Trakt and Real Debrid account is the way forward

Still no issue with Dubai UAE family plan. Had to change card for last payment and payment taken from a Irish Bank account, worked the finest. No VPN needed to update payment details as was in Google account.

€11.39 per month. We all get the value out of it, highly used.

I just got an email about new Youtube premium t and C's about that you need to be in the location that you're paying for the service. Not sure if that means I'm going to be cut off for not living in Turkey.

    From Google

By continuing to use a YouTube Premium, YouTube Music Premium or YouTube Premium Lite subscription after September 26, 2025, you are confirming that you have read and agreed to the updated Terms. If you do not agree with the Terms, you can cancel

Just got the same. I'm hoping it's a generic mail and not targeted at Turkey users living in Ireland.

Got that email as well. Based in Peru. Probably means that they can now cut you off immediately with no refund.

They were doing it anyways. But it's the apple link which seems to be something YouTube can't tackle.

Just got the email too. Don't think it's necessarily time to panic yet.

Besides, if it goes - I'll jump on board smart tube for the Android TV (already been using it a bit, and quite like it actually), and I think it's YouTube vanced for the phone.

The only thing I will be hit with will be YouTube music on the watch when out for a run etc, but I'm sure some geniuses over on XDA will get a work around for that one too if that isn't already done.

    Got that email too today.

I've been in Turkey 3 years but got email 2 weeks ago that membership was cancelled as they knew I wasn't in Turkey. Managed to renew again at Turkish prices but no doubt my time is near up 🙄

Got same email, but I feel like loads of services update their terms of service on a semi regular manner anyway so don't think much will come from this that they haven't already been doing.

All users (who use any paid YouTube service) seem to have got the email, standard enough update of T&C's. Wouldn't worry about it TBH.

    Previous T&Cs stated:

    " Geographic Restrictions

The Paid Services, and certain content available within the Paid Services, may only be available in certain countries. You agree that you will not present any false, inaccurate or misleading information in an effort to misrepresent your country of residence, and you will not attempt to circumvent any restrictions on access to, or availability of, the Paid Services or content available within the Paid Services."

    Specifically the T+CS now state

use the same method (iTunes that is) for Deezer, that’s what I use for my watch. Think it works out at €2 a month

If you use your VPN for Turkey it shows different provider than the EU version.

    Your Service Provider

The entity providing the Paid Services is Google LLC, located at 1600 Amphitheatre Parkway, Mountain View, CA 94043, USA.

We may use other companies within the Alphabet Inc. corporate group, now or in the future (these companies are referred to as our “Affiliates”) to manage Paid Services.

Any payments you make for the Paid Services will be taken by Google Commerce Limited, located at Gordon House, Barrow Street, Dublin 4, Ireland.

Looks like a "normal" update to t&c
