    Time will tell.

As much as manager gets blamed for lot rightly or wrongly I don't think any employment in sport or private sector would put up with the nonsense of Garnacho goes on with. But at time if a employee who getting well paid wants be a prick then be a prick back.

United pay Garnacho. Not other way around.

    EVENFLOW

I gotta say this is not a problem of Amorims making. People like to point out he said it in front of the rest of the squad and he absolutely did. But he was making an example of Garnacho and setting down a marker that his behaviour, despite his undeniable talent, was not acceptable. And lets be honest if Amorim said it in a one to one meeting with just himself and Garnacho it would have been known what was said within a hour on Twitter. Garnacho and his brother are a poisonous duo and good luck to them dealing with Chelsea fans online

Well the club should be happy to wash their hands of him even for £30M plus maybe try get some clauses thrown in or pay him to sit at home if the plan of calling him out in front of everyone was to make an example of him. But they're living in cloud cuckoo land if they honestly thought they were getting £50M or more for a player they told wasn't wanted anymore.

And where do you think that dressing room leak came from?

"Well, yeah, you know, that's just, like, your opinion, man"

In recent times, almost every player that comes into the club regresses. Most have been stand-out players at their previous clubs, and "exciting new signings". That cannot be a coincidence.

If culture improves and every player improves by 10%, the benefits far outweigh writing off the costs when getting the "bad eggs" out of the door.

Well the fact Ornstein was the one that reported it it came from someone at United and not Garnacho's camp. Now if Fabrizio broke the news a different story.

Even then who cares who leaked it. It was always getting out either way and if the club wanted him gone for a big fee given his home grown status you don't announce to the world this player is surplus to requirements please buy him.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2, Paid Member Posts: 14,736 ✭✭✭✭JRant

Exactly, so working backwards from that, who's interests are best served by the leak? The club who want to sell him for the best possible price or the player who will get a larger contract if the fee is lower?

"Well, yeah, you know, that's just, like, your opinion, man"

He was already talking to Chelsea back in December. Amorim took a hard stance and we can assume it has effected the sale price, but we all know that even if the same had have been said in private to Garnacho it would have been leaked 10 minutes after the meeting was over.

Al-Hilal are releasing Mitrovic (or at least reported to be) after signing Nunez.

Would be a no-brainer if we're moving on Hojlund and the wages aren't silly.

Of course it would so don't say it for it to be leaked if you want to sell him for the fee you're looking for. Sell him for £30M and wash your hands or pay him to stay at home if you don't need the sale for Baleba or PSR.

People get caught up too much in the drama, what Amorim said has little consequence to what happnes, if united wanted to sell him clubs would know anyways as agents would be offering him around this happens all the time in football and no doubt has for garnacho.

Chelsea will leverage that he wants to stay in the league and go to Chelsea for sure but united can also say they don't care they will keep him if Chelsea don't pay what he is worth.

The manager caused nothing except some drama that people lap up and give too much value to.

Sources with knowledge of the matter, speaking anonymously to protect relationships, indicate Amorim addressed players at the club’s Carrington training ground on Saturday to inform them of his own plans and, in front of the group, of those for Garnacho.

Ornstein doesn't include that unless it comes from someone within the club and why would Garnacho's camp want to remain anonymous to protect relationships. Ornstein's source for that story isn't from Garnacho's side. They'd have went to Fabrizio with the story.

Donnarumma now being priced at 50m and linked to City to replace Ederson.

    At that price feck that.

Take the money and wash your hands of him. Get a sell on clause thrown in for good measure. Then move onto getting players who actually want to play for the club.

Sell on clause would be brilliant business… Chelsea likely only buying him to flip him in a year or two when the toxicity has died down and he's back to his 'normal' value.

Two 6ft+ Eastern European strikers. I'd say bring 4-4-2 back and let them smash defences.

Though if he's being let go for free I'd say he'll be looking for the highest bidder with the signing on fee plus wages.

Sounds like another episode of City feigning interest in order to raise the price of a "rivals" target.

Simon Harris is monitoring the situation...

Should have taken that contract Chelsea offered him. Would have gotten us more money also rather than £5M the fecker. The club has surely paid him at least £1.5M in wages since he came back. Probably end up paying half that £5M in wages before he leaves while supplementing some of his wages for the last year.

In these days of Sancho & Garnacho being Sancho & Garnacho, the rule on abuse of players is really cramping my style.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,409 ✭✭✭scottser

Sancho is the only one I'd be prepared to just bin off and let him leave on a loan with wages covered, just to see the back of him. Antony and Garnacho have been told straight up that they both need to find clubs willing to pay their correct valuations or else they can train on their own until January. This is bang on and we shouldn't move from that stance. Betis have a weaker squad than last season and they'll end up with sod all this window if they expect us to agree to a last-minute loan. As for Garnacho, Chelsea have that lad Dario Essugo playing CM, signed from Sporting for 19m who isn't going to get minutes this season and we should be looking to bring him here while Garnacho goes the other way. Hoijlund needs to go on loan for his own development and then come back to us next season - I hope he does well at Milan.

if 35, they better negotiate fairly substantial addons, plus a sizeable sell on.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2, Paid Member Posts: 35,200 ✭✭✭✭~Rebel~

That sounds fair enough with Sancho, but Antony seems like he's been pretty professional. Surely if he can't find a suitable move while being pushed out, or only wants to move to a Betis side who can't afford him, he can still be used as a squad player? Seems a better character than Sancho/Rashford/Garnacho.

Yeah, Antony's application in training isn't bad but only holding out for Betis who want him on another loan is what's keeping him in the bad books. He's had interest from Leipzig and Atletico, all shut down in favour of a low-ball loan to Betis. If that's what he wants we'll just keep him and visit the issue again in January. And in the meantime we can give him a small Brazilian flag to wave at his national team next summer when he's in the stands, watching.

Yeah, Brazilian police investigations, refusing to train, suing your previous club, but leaving all that aside.......

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2, Paid Member Posts: 35,200 ✭✭✭✭~Rebel~

That's fair enough though isn't it? Like, if you're pushing a player out who's done nothing wrong, then at least some significant part of that has to be on their terms. Punishing them with exile for not agreeing to be pushed out to whoever suits the club better seems a bit much.

The police thing was dropped without any arrest or charge right? (I distinctly remember Utd fans here being very clear about that back at the time). And I can't find anything saying he's ever refused to train for United… let's be real - none of that is why he's being pushed out (I mean, he played 38 games that season after being accused). It's entirely because he just wasn't good enough. And I'm always a bit uncomfortable about players who are demonstrably trying their best being punished simply for not being good enough.

In fairness, Antony had his loan and did well at Betis. He even got attention from other clubs who were prepared to make cash offers for him. He should be saying to Betis 'Buy me - you know what you're getting. Buy me or I'll go somewhere else' but instead he's just playing silly **** with us. He must surely know that his own actions are jeopardising his place on the Brazil squad? If he had any sense/ambition/morals he'd be driving his agent hard to get the best move possible in the next week, for his own sake.

Totally agree, it seems like he's making the wrong decision for his own career. But I also think those are his decisions/mistakes to make. Ultimately, he's still a Utd player, and the suggestion is it's grand to punish him for simply refusing to leave on the clubs terms.

(I do totally understand fans being annoyed with him though, ultimately they'll always want what's good for the club first and foremost)
