This is a big one for the USA.

    This too shall pass.

Brooks runners apparently flexed some corporate muscle to get NYC Parks & Rec to agree to allow parkrun to use the park. New York Road Runners have a similar free run on Tuesday night as well as other free runs around NYC. Parkrun has an earlier start time of 8am presumably because the park gets too difficult to share at the usual 9am time. The record attendance for a US parkrun was set earlier this year at Jamaica Pond parkrun in Boston on marathon weekend. 645 attended. Put that into perspective with Middleton Greenway who had 636 attend their inaugural and still wasn't the busiest parkrun in Ireland that weekend with over 700 in Marley Park for the visit of Paul S. Hewitt

    This too shall pass.

St Annes had 911 on 30/09/2023. Your man whose names sounds like John Wick (he is a fitness influencer??) Came down and it was jammers. I believe that was the highest an Irish parkrun ever got.

that was gas. There were queues of people trying to finish. If I remember rightly it was a pacer week and all the times were screwed up as none of the pacers could finish 😆.

I'm in the pacer group and often pace myself most months. I dodged a bullet that week - I had training so couldn't make it that week and was unaware that your man was coming so was glad I missed it in the end!.

    What other parkruns have pacers?

St Annes is last saturday of every month and has 19-34 minutes. Malahide is 2nd last saturday/third week of the month(depends on the month) is is typically only 19-24 minutes if I recall correctly.

Unaware of any others as have only done seven locations in Dublin.

I paced 29 at Malahide last month. They had a good few, up to 35 minutes.

Naas have pacers on the 1st Saturday of the month

Tralee and Ballincollig have pacers once a month.

Checking a parkrun's volunteer roster and seeing if they have pacer listed as a volunteer option should indicate if they run pacer weeks or not.

Most weeks in Donabate there is a couple of pacers, get there early and have a chat with the group with the run director, you might get someone to pace a particular time for you. Paced there myself a couple of times, if you are looking for a particularly quick time, keep an eye on their facebook page, clubs like Lusk, LSA have taken over the event on a couple of occasions and they would pace plenty of goal times.

Shanganagh is paced by Bray Runners on the first Saturday of every month.

Generally from 20 mins and slower.

Shanganagh is generally a fast course too, very flat and wide paths for easy overtaking.

I'm nearly sure Royal Canal Kilcock has pacers but I'm not sure when.

    This too shall pass.

Marlay has pacers on the last Saturday of each month - generally a good range of times.

Kilcock have pacers first Saturday every month.

Waterstown used to be the same. They still have pacers but it's much more sporadic now

Just recently got into fitness, wrong side of 40 and a few stone over weight. Never heard of Parkrun tbh. A relative in the UK suggested I look to see if their is one here me, turns out their is one a 5 min drive away in Killaloe.

Rocked up not really knowing what to expect, what a great bunch of people, no pressure, a few chats, do it at your own pace, REALLY enjoyed it!

Welcome aboard, one thing I marvel about Clare parkruns is that none of them are named after the towns they're in. The one you just started in Killaloe is called Clarisford. The one in Ennis is called Lees Road, the one in Shannon is called Illnamanaugh and the one in Kilrush is called Vandeluer

    This too shall pass.

parkruns are named after the townlands/area where they are located as apposed to the nearest large town. In Ennis Lees Road is the name of the road that pases to the west of the park. The park has since been renamed John O Sullivan Park (for very good reason) but the parkrun name did not change.

That must have come in later, because that would mean Oranmore should be called Rinville, New Ross should probably be called JFK Arboretum (Alphabeteers would rejoice) and Tullow should probably have something more Co. Wicklow appropriate.

    This too shall pass.
