Generally speaking, if you live nearby and know about an inaugural event, you should go if you’d like armed with the knowledge that it may be busy (queues for scanning, things not quite working smoothly etc).
The whole thing about obscuring the date of an inaugural event is to discourage the hyper parkrun tourists who will all travel the country on the same day to attend.

Lucky enough to be able to complete my 300th parkrun today.
Did the course check too.
Hopefully will be able to do another 300.
