10 mins is a great improvement and a lot more than the weight loss alone would account for.

Most likely you have improved your CV fitness, leg strength and running efficiency.

Nobody suggested you would drop dead but you are more vulnerable in all the ways previously outlined.

Personally in your situation I'd be happy to now sacrifice a minute or 2 on the 5K in exchange for adding back 10kg of muscle.

Ultimately it makes no odds if your 5K is a bit slower than it is now, you'd still be in a far better position in overall health & wellness terms.

All true with regards to general health.

As I noted, the 10/11 kg upper body mass lost was a mix of fat & muscle. How much of each? Unsure but if I had to guess it was probably around 40% muscle, 60% fat from looking in the mirror.

I could put on more upper body muscle and still get faster, I know a lad doing hyrox who is massive (85kg) with biceps the size of tree trunks and he runs low 17 minutes.

How to put on that lost muscle - lets say 5k, whilst doing the mileage I'm doing is the issue. Not to mention eating that much more then what I'm already doing to ensure muscle growth.
