Richie Hogan questioned if any tipp players would make the Cork team, incredibly disrespectful. If Lar Corbett questioned on newstalk would any Kilkenny player make the cork team most of ye would rightly be giving out about him. Let's not pretend ye would just nod along and agree. Richie has had lots of digs at tipp last few years. You will never hear 1 tipp person mention Tommy walsh in any bad light as he is always respectful of other counties and doesn't need the click bait headlines hogan looks for. I don't recall any ex tipp players talking about Kilkenny the way hogan goes on about tipp. Richie comes across quite bitter at times.

Was no fluke to draw with Limerick, beat clare, waterford, laois, galway, kilkenny and finally beat munster and league champions cork.

Reading Craig Morgans diary on the examiner, Dillon Quirkes passing had more of an effect on the team then maybe we initially thought so may explain some of the poor performances 2023,2024.

Yes it is one of the greatest all Ireland ever won in fairness, epic match against Limerick, epic match against Clare, epic match against Kilkenny, they had to negotiate a lot of tough opposition whilst being written off to win the All Ireland.

One massive factor which did help them was finishing third in Munster this year and also having a bye week last in Munster, it allowed them to embrace the u20 All Ireland and enjoy it without a fixture overload and Munster final to fit in around that. It was almost a reset for them.

Richie Hogan is acting as a pundit, he is asked for his opinion, his predictions and other questions. It would/will do his future prospects as a pundit no good to continously give poor quality answers out of bitterness, so why when a pundit gives an opinion ye don't like it is it put down to bitterness? If in hindsight he is proven to be very off in his assessment, well then ye have satisfaction of knowing he was wrong and possibly having egg on his face. This is not enough in Tipp though, pundits, podcast hosts, reporters and analysts added to curated lists of those that didn't predict a dominant Tipp win or even just said things disagreeable to Tipp, ready to be used to call out those on the lists should Tipp win.

This was the case for the semi final too a match where most people found it very difficult to predict a winner, but pundits found themselves on said lists for the crime of giving Kilkenny the nod when pressed.

All the while, particularly before the final, Tipp posters such as you were at the same time peddling the lines about Tipp being in bonus territory, too early in their development, free shot etc.

Sorry didn't see this before I posted about Tipp

Pundits can have biases and do. Hogan clearly has, questioning if any tipp player would make the cork team is disrespectful and quite frankly he looks ridiculous now. Putting words in people's mouth, nobody I know in tipp thought a pundit should suggest dominant tipp win , some pundits said cork could win 10+ and nearly all went cork so obviously its nice prove peope wrong. All teams use being written off as motivation btw, tommy walsh mentioned it about 2011, this is nothing new , kieran donaghy-joe brolly etc but you seem to have issues with tipp doing similar.

If you think that kilkenny people on here and in geneal public wouldn't query why Lar Corbett suggested if any kilkenny player would make cork team then you are being disingenous.

It's clear from your posts "that shower" etc you have animosity against tipp and clearly clouding your judgement on all matters tipp. The most frequent posters here were gracious in defeat to tipp, you however have been non stop negative anything tipp related. You went onto cork forum commisserating that they didn't beat tipp, any kilkenny man I know wouldn't dream of doing that.

Yee won the all Ireland completely out of the blue even for the most optimistic tipp fan it came as a shock

It was cork that yee beat in the final not kk so I just don’t understand the constant jibes at Kilkenny the better team on the day won the final and that was tipp

Yee should be to busy celebrating to care what else happened during the year

It’s really petty stuff and there’s no need for it yee have the Liam Mcarthy back get on with it and enjoy it

Please point out where I aimed Any jibe at this kilkenny team? All tipp posters on here were gracious as far as I saw. Hogan is the issue we are discussing.

Would you be ok with lar Corbett questioning if any kilkenny player would make cork team?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 453 ✭✭jamesbond2022

I wasnt talking about you more the premier view pod

It’s easy be wise after the fact if kk took the beating tipp did in the league final you would very easily say not many kk players would get in the cork team as cork looked unreal around then

A lot of pundits quite rightly compared tipps early season form as a trait that Liam Cahill teams have with a potential drop off before the championship similarly to his last year in Waterford when they won the league under him

Yeah Richie probably could have said maybe a few more tipp players would get into the cork team but a lot of pundits had tipp and Waterford in a toss up for maybe sneaking into third in Munster at the time

Cork Limerick and Clare were most peoples top 3 before a ball was pucked in the league never mind championship

I don’t see a lot of the tipp media that wanted Cahills head last year been snipped at online now or there comments last year being put up for click bait now

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,173 ✭✭✭newhouse87

Tbh I don't listen to premieviewpod but heard that can be bit ott alright, akin to eddie scally maybe ha. Look i just thought hogan was ott in his criticisms of tipp recently when you compare him to tommy walsh and paul murphy in particular 2 gents. I will leave ye to kilkenny matters and all going well we will meet ye next year.

Over and out for the year.

Fluke was the wrong choice of word, Tipp deserved to win the All Ireland but when a team comes from almost nowhere and wins to everyone's surprise, then the test is whether they can follow it up. Not that they need to for Tipp supporters, as I'd imagine this was was sweet enough to sate the appetite for a few years.

And it kills me to say it but Tipp winning was far preferable to Cork ending their famine. Any rival county has to suck it up and take the slagging but Jesus Cork would be insufferable.

I would imagine that's very much tongue in cheek.
Disappointing to see Mick Fennelly go but it's another chance of a re-set and a fresh pair of eyes over the development side of things. If the right person is appointed it can still be a positive.

'Personal circumstances' is always a very ambiguous reason though. I'm hoping it's because he's leaving because he's been offered a better career opportunity for him and his family, rather than because of him being at his wits end dealing with the dinosaurs in Nowlan Park.

well first of all Tipp deserved everything they got ,they fought hard against the odds all year and got there rewards. Were they lucky, of course they were but you have to be to win an all Ireland

It'll be interesting to see do the county board replace Fennelly at all. He's come in and put structures in place over the 3(?) years. Do they put someone new in or very quietly do nothing and as a collective maintain his ideas for a few years to see if they pay off. From memory the job description when advertised was pretty extensive and in reality was probably a 2 person job for what they wanted at the time.

This county is sinking so fast it’s unbelievable, the county board is unbelievably bad as regards finance and organisation. Now the Michael Fennelly story has raised its head and it’s not good regardless of the statement issued,he was always struggling trying to secure funding some people object to this but funding is essential if we are to move forward . He is only in the job less than two years and I can see massive improvements, even last weekend our underage teams had massive performances. It’s an awful pity that the people who should be resigning aren’t.I personally think that the CB is in massive trouble and are trying to hide the facts while making the situation worse.everything seems to come down to shillings and pence they want everything for free but those days are well gone, they will have to get more professional in there approach to major sponsors.the way the CB is run is far from professional.they are running it like they were thirty years ago, they need to change up everything e.g. absolutely nothing on the management teams, yet the minor and U20’s teams were knocked out at least Six weeks ago, are they being retained or are they looking for new candidates what’s the delay? Why aren’t the general GAA public not kept informed of the situation. This organisation is supposed to be comprised of us not them and us. I certainly think the revolution has to start soon otherwise we are sinking deeper and deeper into the abyss.

Finally I think all posters here should air their views and we could all reach some common ground and propose an agreed strategy to improve the situation.there is so many things gone wrong that could be rectified easily like getting back the crowds actively seeking good sponsors ( remember the scoreboard debacle) brain dead stuff The Dunmore project should be a massive boost for the future of the county but again this is only limping along, does anyone here have an update on Dunmore.?

I am a lot more confident than many posters that Kilkenny can recover. It's time for the many brilliant hurlers, teachers and minds to unite and work as a team to help each other build stronger foundations to enable the natural Kilkenny hurling talent play at the highedt level. That means taking turns being in charge, time being followers and doing the spade work. There is no place for club, colleges or other rivalry given our current predicament.

Derek Lyng is a very good manager; in the Cody mold and spirit; a leader on and off the field; a model for any young man or woman; someone you would be happy to see motivate your son or daughter, calm, seasoned, great experience, making players take responsibility for their own self development and self motivation; holding young players back until their S&C are ready for the demanding intercounty physicality and they continue to demonstrate an appetite for the tough journey. In contrast, I do not like to see nutcase managers going berserk on the sideline or in the media; driving highly talented youngsters to early burnout. Sadly too many Munster hurlers who fit the latter mild. I hope they take a good look at the personalities who have managed / motivated 4 in a row teams (Cody, Kiely, Gavin) and how they didn't burn out a lot of talent in the process.

Lyng, Henry, Brian Hogan, Rice, Mick Fennelly, Peter Barry, Taggy, Jj, Gorta, Tommy, to name but a few are great leaders but in our hour of need the true test is whether they can work together without egos and help rebuild our hurling prowess at all levels. The CB and clubs need to play their part. Nicky Brennan, ? Quinn, Fogarty were a team and a key part of our 2000-2015 success. As were the teachers and coaches who selflessly gave (and are giving) their time in developing the great players in Ballyhale, Carrickshock, OLG, Village, Tullaroan, Gowran, Johnstown, Thomastown, Callan etc. Time to stop bickering and start working together.

There still has to be a question mark over the win in the Semi final. We certainly are entitled to feel sore about that and how little was made of it by Croke Park. Our players deserved better.

They're fair insufferable. Had a go at independent because all their pundits went for a cork win on Saturday.

Pj will be working diligently behind the scenes getting the right person to replace mick fennelly and a smooth transition will take place. U17 and u20 could also be up for grabs but with so much going on in the backround it might just be easier continue with the same management at these grades.

Classless stuff everyone rightly backed cork it’s easy be wise after the fact

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,777 ✭✭✭Village87

Yes that is true, but lets not disguise over management failing to handle the last 10 minutes of the game and sticking with Deegan and Reid in the backs when they are bet against top opposition

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 803 ✭✭✭Nickindublin

If we had blooded 2 or 3 younger players particulary no 6 this year and went out by 6 or 7 in the semi final I would be all for the current team to come back. My fear is that it will the same again next year and we will fall.short. The best hope for KK going forward IMO is for a few retirements.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 301 ✭✭KK36

We're not that far away at ll. If we had a good centre back against Tipp or an option at full back (and play Huw at 6) plus Paddy Deegan in the half forward line instead of Mullen we would have beaten the all ireland winners.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,468 ✭✭✭tibruit

Huw Lawlor was tried at 6 in the league a few years ago and it didn`t go very well.

I disagree, he started off shaky but he was actually starting to settle into the position when the management panicked and sent him back to full back when the full back was injured I think.
