Phenomenally stupid is somewhat inaccurate, one of the most successful businessmen in the world with an ability to run the biggest economy in the world, I get a kick out of all this smarter than thou and more righteous than thou stuff toward Trump and Americans, but the biggest kick I get is where Trump can say whatever he wants and y’all have to deal with it, he doesn’t have to answer to anyone and personally I find it refreshing in politics where the potus can say exactly what’s on his mind, ok he’s not the sharpest tool in the box sometimes but fcuk me it is entertaining.

Take it you're not willing to cite some references for your odd math. 😂

to be fair i can understand why a person from a county which deals in imperial measurements would have problems understanding a metric and decimal based math system.

But the expressions made in this thread so far are just simply wrong, and not based in any logical mathematic language.

If Trump had have said "we'll pay 10 times less, or 11 times less or 14 times less" you could argue that mathematically, but once he brought percentages into it it just becomes more gobbledygook

    #MEGA MAKE EUROPE GREAT AGAIN

I’m taking this 1000% cheaper lark as a method of “shouting” out some small benefit some people on drug schemes might benefit from in some small way in the future-and making it out to be something wonderful - so vague, no time frame, no specifics on what drugs - just bullsh1t basically - in his brain he’s probably claiming that people will save $1000s without him actually doing the calculations, so 1000% savings covers it all 🤣

So we're back to Trump being a "great business man" (this is a a lie) and "entertaining" (if you find such an appalling specimen of humanity entertaining that says more about you, I'm afraid) to distract from his stupidity (and your utter failure to comprehend primary school arithmetic)?

One of the most successful businessmen in the world - nope, look at his bankruptcies, look at his grifting and shilling for dollars online, and having to lie on his tax returns for which he is a convicted felon. The most openly corrupt US President in the modern era.

He is running the biggest economy in the world into the ground with his economically insane policies, the only reason he hasn't succeeded is the Fed reserve chairman (who he wants to fire) and him chickening out when the bond markets gets spooked.

You find it 'refreshing' that Trump can say whatever comes into his mind - let's not forget folks that includes racist hate, sexist trolling, laughing about victims of violence… If you find that entertaining and you get a kick out of it, well that is a position of absolute moral and political bankruptcy.

Age has caught up with him and he's struggling with primary school maths. What's your excuse?

I gave the explanation on how it is used, I get it that it is completely new to most on here but I tune in to business and finance commentary regularly and it’s not uncommon to hear people speak of 300% 400% drop in price, i get it that you don’t get it and that’s ok.

Bloody hell, I hoped Simpsons wouldn't have to predict this level of dumbing down. I'd say it's a 1000% loss of IQ for trumpers but everyone knows IQ doesn't go negative.

And to defend it with "well he's a great businessman…"

You didn't. You're desperately defending one of the worst people in the world who can't do the most basic sums. This guy would happily send you to a concentration camp for a dollar and your problem is people criticising him.

K, you should be able to cite an article that uses it so. Your actual explanation made no actual mathematical sense btw.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2, Paid Member Posts: 11,945 ✭✭✭✭fullstop

Ah yes, the old pivot now from arguing that black = white to “well he can say what he wants”, the adult equivalent of “I know you are, but what am I” when proven to be arguing an utterly stupid point 🙄

These lads are only out for a reaction, the likes of him KDF and others, come along, throw out a completely off the wall view point then sit back and laugh whilst everyone rushes to correct them. I don't know why anyone engages with bad faith posters like this.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,655 ✭✭✭McFly85

It’s completely uncommon because it makes no sense. If an item that used to cost €100 now costs €10 there’s been a reduction in price of 90%. The other way around it’s 1000% because a price can increase to multiples of its current value.

the only way a price decrease of over 100% makes any sense is if the item is being given away with money.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 16,132 ✭✭✭✭Leroy42

So your defence is that others have said it, so it makes it right?

But you know its not right, you understand %'s and yet you are taking other people's talking points against your own knowledge.

I hear football pundits talking about people giving 110%. It's drivel, made-up nonsense said by people who use cliches and can't think of a proper way to say what they actually mean so they fall back on tired cliches.

At the end of the day, none of it matters. Trump didn't say it because he had miscalculated; he said it because he sounds great and plenty of people, and we have one such here, will happily go along with it.

The real story is the complete lack of any detail. Any timeframe. How is this going to happen when he has just introduced tariffs? Will the government actively legislate for this? Will he be allowed to actually set prices for individual drugs from private companies? Will it just be on the final consumer price, or will this affect or drug prices from the manufacturer to the pharmacy?

Sounds very much like socialism to me, and isn't that 100% against what MAGA wants? And who will pay the pharma companies for their lost profits? Will that mean more taxes?

The lack of any financial or even mathematical knowledge is hardly surprising for Trump. He has never shown one iota of ability to understand complex finance or how things actually work. this was clearly another made up, propbably that morning, idea that they know will make for good headlines and nothing will ever come of it.

I'm sure Trump will tells us shortly that he will have plans ready in two weeks.

Now, apparently, Boards is not going to sanction anyone for trolling in CA so its up to posters to deal with it. After a couple of responses it becomes obvious that ye are being led by the nose, and its up to you to detatch from the nonsense.

One aspect of this conversation has become very tedious and has caused me to, for the first time in my 28 thousand posts to 'ignore' someone. This is a bit pointless when posts are being quoted. Its already been admitted that a poster is just looking for entertainment.

How about just dropping the really stupid stuff and leave the poster to snigger in his/their basement?

Desfinitely safe to say Trumpers haven't a bulls notion about %.

i never expected a case study to immediately prove this theory but here we are.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2, Paid Member Posts: 2,888 ✭✭✭Hoop66

This post is just lies. With a little sly dig at us (the sheep, the morons) for not "getting it". Why can't we just accept that Donald is a brilliant businessman?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 25,678 ✭✭✭✭pjohnson

I said in another thread I never understood the trolling style that has the person doing it acting like they have at best 1/8th (best not use percentage) of a solitary braincell.

    Are they looking for sympathy?

Once you've thrown in so deep with someone like Trump, you have to defend/explain everything away. It stops being about facts and is just defend, defend, defend. It's Trump's own method; never admit you're wrong, claim everyone else is wrong, you're right, and they're stupid for not understanding how right you are.

That then leads you to places where you have to try and defend Trump saying drug prices are going to come down by 1000%, and you have to try claim that we're the idiots for pointing out that the seller dropping the price of an item by 1000% means they have to give you the item and also pay you nine times (or 900%) its value.

It's just gas that this sort of sh*te comes from the most famous country in the world for rebelling against a monarchy and they've now decided to go hard on something much, much worse. The British sovereign was never, ever an all powerful figure like they want Jeffrey Epstein's best friend to be.

I see the Orange Buffoon's 'but look over here' diversionary tactics are working so 😁

For every x posts about his math, there's maybe 3% of x about Epstein 🤣

His recent success in business comes from creating a constituency of Americans that will sniff his sh1t and tells him that it smells sweeter than roses and will then buy it if he bottles it-or boxes it, no idea how one contains faeces-at a price of 100$ a tub.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,251 ✭✭✭ilkhanid

Wasn't it an Italian who invented the % symbol? The Trumpers probably regard that percentage stuff as some kind of foreign muck taught in Woke universities that good patriotic Americans don't need.
