Cancelling the Late Show with Stephen Colbert, the most watched late night show in the US, shows real fear in Trump and his conservatives because Colbert has no fear of pointing out the Truth.

CFTrump has tons of history trying to kill stories. When my brother was an editor for the NY Post in the late 1970's, Steve Dunleavy routinely was sent by Trump to the editor desk to kill stories, usually those involving Trump's bad behavior at places like Studio 54.

So, this latest story? Absolutely true. And old enough that Trump had a more-or-less coherent brain to write that message.

Sadly, Trump has his hands on, or his loyalists' hands on, the levers of the mechanisms which would potentially lead to the release of an unredacted copy of the files, i.e. Bondi claiming she had the files back in Feb and now is trying to dismiss the whole thing. These files are the kind of thing that would get released without warning in order to catch Trump unawares. If they're merely being touted, it gives Trump weeks, and counting, of runway to suppress it. The longer this little saga goes on, the slimmer the chances of seeing a full, genuine version becomes.

I mean, if the richest man in the world was crowing about those files shortly after leaving the Trump administration, but then meekly apologised a couple of days later, I would say that the ability of the Trump government to cow internal adversaries isn't exactly inconsiderable.

Very interesting choice of words: "Produce", not "release".

Still plays into conspiracy theories. As others have suggested, I'd expect any evidence to be sacrificial lambs or heavily redacted or newly "produced".

It was mentioned that Trumps fellow well wishers in the Epstein letter did not call it a fake.

Murdoch is no fool. He wouldn't have allowed the story to be printed if they couldn't prove the letter is genuine especially considering how litigious Trump is.

Trump can tweet all he wants about suing but I wonder does he really want all this discussed in court.

I think ultimately this will be a severe own goal and will backfire spectacularly - sometimes society needs a catalyst in order to bring on action - whilst this may not be it, it’s certainly a good wake up call to those who have been asleep in America to date - journalists need to start speaking out more - what he said was the truth- Trump and his Rottweiler are both full of hate- there is nothing false in what he said

I am finding it pretty funny that the posters who would frequently go on about TDS have virtually disappeared... It's almost like they're even a bit stuck in terms of what to say.

Of course it is not Trump's drawing or conversation. Trump doesn't have those kind of abilities. What he does have and had then was people in his advertising departments who could do just that, at his direction.

    As Ted Lieu points out…

Trump is all over the Epstein files.

    There are:

    -photographs of Trump with Epstein

    -videos of Trump with Epstein

    -quotes by Trump of Epstein

-plane logs of Trump on Epstein’s plane

    -court pleadings naming Trump

    And now this...

I wonder what those "certain things in common" are...

The only thing that doesn't seem right is the felon using or knowing what the word "enigma" means. We know how limited his vocabulary is.

Imagine if they nail pedophile links to a US president.

Trumps immediate cries of fake news makes him look guilty as hell.

I find it very interesting that Murdoch has obviously given the green light to this article. Has he seen the writing on the wall? A powerful ally for a president and a fearful enemy if he turns on you. I'll be watching this with interest.

I don't watch or follow Fox news (I refuse to), but does anyone know if the tone has changed recently? That could be an indicator Murdoch is out for the kill.

Absolutely, I hope it all spills out, I really do, nail the fucker to the wall.

    The discovery will be interesting.

He's already looks guilty as hell.

You don't get to see the right tear itself apart very often. It's all the more glorious for that.

There can't be a single person who believes that letter is a 'fake'. Whatever its significance, good or bad, he clearly had a close friendship with Epstein and wasn't just a casual acquaintance who was on nodding terms with him.

All the different ways Epstein had to contact trump. I can only imagine it’s coz Epstein had new talent for trump to try.

Plot twist to make MAGA go wild: not just girls (deplorables have no issues with that I suspect)

From a convicted rapist to a person convicted of assisting a convicted rapist, all of whom were well known to each other…. One thing that's been in my mind for some time now is Trumps "wishing" Maxwell well after she was convicted and put in prison. He made the point of saying it twice. This was after Epstein had died while in custody in 2019. Maxwell had been denied bail and held in custody before her conviction and imprisonment in 2020.

AFAIK, she was held at the Metropolitan Detention Centre, NYC. The centre seems to be also known as the Metropolitan Correction Centre, NYC. I do not know if the Centre has two titles to cover the fact it might house both male and female remand and convicted prisoners in separate wings as it were or if both Epstein and Maxwell were held in different NYC centres.

At this present time, it seems that Maxwell is applying for a retrial, however slim that chance might be, and if it were granted, I can see that some persons would not be at all happy with a rehash of personal connections and evidential matters in court to the media.

They are all over the place...

Ron Johnson suggests Democrats tampered with the Epstein files: "I do know that the Epstein files were in the custody of the Biden administration. I don't know to what extent they added or deleted things."

So firstly there are files, and they will be released when Trump gets in, then there are no files, then there are files, but the Democrats created fake ones, and now we have there are files, but the real ones were doctored by the Democrats. Gotcha.

One question Mr. Johnson... If the Democrats did have the files, and altered them to make Trump look bad.. why didn't they release them in an effort to make him look bad so that they wouldn't lose the election? 🤔

Was looking at Google trends for the US. The Astronomer CEO and Trump are trending atm. Weirdly Epstein isn't showing in trends for the last week. Sort of makes me think that there's a level of downplaying of the public mood in those stats cause I'm pretty sure it has to be an omission.

The words on the 'birthday card' don't read like something Trump would come up with. He's far more blunt and hasn't the vocabulary or capacity for writing that.

I’m hoping the press will wake up - I don’t know how well respected Stephen Colbert is but he’s been on that show for nearly a decade so likely held with some esteem - something stinks in terms of his sacking (or not renewing contract) - if it’s political, which doesn’t take much imagination to land on that conclusion, then really the press need to do their job - considering the legal system seems to be in a tizzy and slow to adapt to trumps antics, it’s left to the independent press (if there still is such a thing in America) to hold all to account - but they need to get their finger out

    He wasn’t always senile

He is surprisingly coherent in 80s and 90s

There is zero chance Murdoch would publish this story if they couldn't prove the letter is genuine. Trump may have had help writing the words but I'm sure the letter has his verifiable wet signature.
