yeah I remember from the time but I’d forgotten how actually nuts it was. I’ve watched this, I watched the titan documentary, I found the lead engineer came across poorly. Him laughing at something so tragic was in poor taste.

Its a rare Netflix doc that I wouldn't mind if it had more episodes and was longer! It's just 50 minutes! Bonkers.

There are other "Train wreck" docs just not more on Rob Ford

Dept Q, just watched the first episode, brilliant so far.

Matthew Goode is a very handsome actor, they have done a very good job of scuffing him up!

Dept Q has me smiling multiple times an episode - all because of the Ford Sierra and it's known glitch of over running for a second when the ignition is switched off.

Biggest unexpected nostalgia blast in aaaaages

I watched the first episode of The Waterfront, it was watchable summer evening viewing but didn't grab me enough to continue with the rest of the series.
Blurb: As their storied North Carolina fishing empire decays, the damaged Buckleys grapple to revive their imperiled maritime heritage

It's from Kevin Williamson (Dawsons Creek, Scream, Vampire Diaries) and it's like you took Pacey and put him into a crime plot while all the slice of life soap stuff with exs is going on also. Only the actor is no Pacey!

I like that it's a bit "knowing", postmodern sortof, typical of Williamson. And Holt McCallany is very good as the family patriarch. Nice scenic setting in coastal North Carolina. If it was a film I would have gladly watched to the end but not 7 more episodes.

DEPT Q is brilliant, 4 episodes in.

I actually get lots of laughs in every episode because he us just so caustic!

Finished Dept Q, it was absolutely brilliant but it did annoy me over who did it, if I guessed in episode 2 who it was then surely Meritt should have!

Ive been on 1 cruise and it was very enjoyable (which I didn't expect). It was with Royal Caribbean though. After watching this I'll never set foot on a Carnival cruise ship 🤣

    Surviving Black Hawk Down

US soldiers and Somali fighters recall the 1993 Battle of Mogadishu and the now-famous downing of three Black Hawk helicopters.

A mix of interviews, archive footage, and reconstructions of what happened on the day.

A very well made 3 part series, highly recommended!

You are a khaki coloured bombardier, it's Hiroshima that you're nearing.

Not too sure if it’s been mentioned but Nine Bodies in a Mexican Morgue is watchable, bit of a Lost who did it.

this was a good watch for 45 mins one-off docu. Unbelievable the stuff people can pull and still be re-elected.

Surprised to see so much praise for Dept Q here.

It was decent enough but pretty silly and a lot of “edgy” swearing in place of decent dialogue.

Just finished Dept Q myself. Solid show, will watch a second season.

We finished this, decent enough though not earth shattering or special. Fairly gorey in part. Better than average Americana soundtrack, must find a playlist somewhere.

Yup I watched The Waterfront over the last few nights. Light entertainment, gory in places, a lot of murders (!) but very good in a "not too serious" way. The character Grady was both likeable and hateable in equal measures! I really liked Harlen (Holt McCallany) as head of the family and the empire. He reminded me of someone from an old Western, very macho, seen it all/done it all type/hard living/hard drinking type. You felt he could fix anything.

    A good watch.

2/3 of the way through Oppenheimer. Went to bed after 2 hours, but it is pretty good. Honest thief with Liam Neeson also pretty good too.

Just started it, seems to be a bit like Ozark set in the Carolinas.

Reminded me of Bloodline, the show set in the Florida keys.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,738 ✭✭✭bogmanfan

I watched 2 episodes and stopped. Dreadful stuff.

watched a documentary called ConMum. It’s the tinder swindler type scam but it was the guys mum. Loved it. Absolutely nuts.

The Old Guard 2 is awful, first one was okay. Script for the second one is like some edgy teenagers wrote it, awful waste of talent and a half decent concept. Also ends unresolved which makes it even worse as I'd doubt they'll make a 3rd one and if they do I won't waste my time

    H-Pop Demon Hunters.

Enjoyable Korean animation. Does exactly what it says on the tin. K-pop stars who are also demon hunters. Beautifully animated. Fight sequences fun and you are actually able to follow what's happening. Might need to turn on subtitles for some of the songs. Especially as they are bilingual like every good anime song 😀. Nice integration of songs and fight choreography/design. Obviously western money and aimed at a western audience (Main cast is Korean but English speaking). But good fun and at least has a pulse which is more than can be said for other hyper-expensive straight-to-streamer fodder that is basically just content for Streaming platforms. I mean is anyone expecting the next Bond movie to be any good? Even though Vilneuve is (currently) attached? Anyway.

Might be surprising to some how important music can be to eastern animation (Japanese especially). There are many shows out there that revolve around music. From "Boochi The Rock", "Beck - mongolian chop squad", "Carole and Tuesday", "Kids on the slope", "Ongaku" which at least partially revolve around music to the likes of Cowboy Bebop where music is integral to the tone of the show. And this is just regarding songs as opposed to background music.

While Cowboy Bebop is famous for having an excellent dubbing, I would tend to stick to original languages

Jaysus just got round to watching the Cruise Ship thing.

For feck sake if that is what cruises are like I never want to set foot on one!

It was bad from start even before the fire on ship! All the people drinking and partying at the start on deck wtf are they trying to relive their spring break years🫣.

Who in their right mind would bring children on a party cruise like that!

The right ship / locations / cruise company can make a family cruise enjoyable.

But yeah feck Carnival. They can keep their dodgy sewage boats.
