A review like that just shows you why people who go once usually end up going a few times. You'll rarely find someone who has only been once. I haven't been in over 10 years (been 3 times) but getting the Fomo again after reading all on here and watching the weekend on bbc. It's hard work going from Ireland but well worth the effort.

I went in 2022, haven't been lucky since in the annual ticket lottery though would love to go again. I recommend following the advice on this thread from the Glasto veterans, but do not assume you will definitely get tickets. Deciding you want to go is the easiest part of the whole thing.

Great to meet you too man, excellent company. Taphouse an ideal spot indeed, next door to Billy's tent and close to West Holts. You catch any acts at either stage?

And to make you feel less bad, even without work shifts I caught less than half the acts I'd earmarked. Clashes, distances and opting for tents over outdoor stages with no shade meant I missed Goat, John Fogerty, Third World, Cymande, Black Uhuru and loads more. As @darzog said you could return for 5 weeks in a row and see an entirely different but equally brilliant festival. See you in 2027/28.

No, didn't see anyone on either of those stages. Nipped into Leftfield to catch some shade on Sunday before my shift and caught the end of an act, but that was my only time in there. Looking back now, not quite sure what I was doing all week. Last year I managed to catch 20 acts I wanted to see - even with my shifts, but that was probably too much.. This year I went too far the other way, but still saw plenty of other stuff that wasn't necessarily planned, so it was all good. Had a couple of late late ones in the South East Corner on Saturday and Sunday too even though it's not particularly my scene - still think it's worth a trip down there at least once over the weekend.

My last photo of the week. 5.15AM Monday morning when a thick fog descended on the site.

How were Wunderhorse btw? Caught them in the Roisin two years ago and unimpressed, too Sam Fender-ish for me though they had hints of Radiohead & Pixies. Watched 30 mins of the Park set last night though and very decent. A much heavier sound, better tracks and a VERY intense performance by Slater. Interested to know if they're worth a look at Collins Barracks as I'll probably be up thhere for Sharon Van Etten and they might be worth popping in to the night before.

They were decent. I wouldn't necessarily put them at Sam Fender level. A bit less of a mass appeal than him. Kinda hung at the back for the start of them, but got drawn in. Was a really good performance. Saw them in The Workmans a couple of years ago. I know what you mean though. There's something that doesn't fully connect with them to me. Feels like it's him and the band rather than it being a collective effort. Almost the way Razorlight felt back in the day. (I know it's not cool, but still have a soft spot for their first album - despite their pathetic second effort and anything else after that).

Feel like Wunderhorse are one to keep an eye on. The kids seem to love them - and anything that gets young people listening to guitar music is fine by me. They seem to pop up on Spotify after everything I listen to. Not quite sure how that works, but there must be some sort of record company push behind it. Purple is a very good song tbf.. So overall, not a massive fan.. But I do like them!

I'll be 61 but my regular Glasto pal simon will be 62 so it's an unwanted victory of sorts. Average age of attendee according to the last such survey (2018/19?) was 39. There are a hell of a lot of people whose weekends were funded by their pensions and it's very obvious on site.

Before heading to The Searchers at the Acoustic Stage I squeezed into an alcove seat beside 7/8 people in the adjacent Cockmill Bar. Most of the group were off-duty volunteers and two old rockers and it turns out that at 59 I was the youngest there. That's a NEW experience. The oldest was an 82-year-old guy bearing a strong resemblance to Michael Parkinson who'd come for the first time at the age of 63 and had attended most Glasto weekends since. If ye're in search of inspiration……………

Sheesh, light weights! I was 56 when I finally made it to Glastonbury. Female, by the way. I'll be over 60 if I am lucky enough to get tickets for 2027, and if I do I will relish every second of it.

Yeah, one of the beautiful things about Glastonbury is the range of ages that attend it. Also, it's simultaneously the biggest festival in the world, but it also feels quite parochial in many ways too. You get the feeling that they look after the local old-timers. Rambling around the crew bars on the Tuesday I got speaking to a lot of older people who've been going for years and years and have small jobs here and there. Just a really nice atmosphere.

Anyone else on that delayed 1.30pm flight from Bristol to Dublin on the Monday? 3hrs 40mins late and thanks to EU legislation that's a fine for Michael O'Leary and €250 in my bank account. Covers the cost of my entire return flight so make sure you apply. Ryanair aren't helpful in making the process visible but it takes about 90 seconds to complete the form soo don't let 'em off the hook.

Got 250 out of Aer Lingus a couple of months back for a 4 hour delay. Never knew about it, one of the people I was going with told us. So easy, paid for my flights and a good few pints. Was delighted.

I'd go to Glastonbury for the Glade lineup alone, unreal.

Best lineup I've ever seen for The Glade. Alas I didn't see a single act there over the entire weekend, the major regret being Third World but with the heat on Sunday I was opting for indoor sets over outdoor. When TW were on I was also missing Rhiannon Gidddens, Goat, Brian Jonestown and Chic. I'm taking a clone along in 2027.

Missed Goldie also, on the wrong side of the Other Stage at The Prodigy to get over there afterwards. Must have been mobbed. You go @desk tidy & @rubick? Anyone else?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,087 ✭✭✭rubick

We were mooching about Glade on Sunday from The Orb at 5.15pm quick bite to eat at Other Stage, back in for A Guy Called Gerald & The Jungle Drummer into Goldie. Both incredible, the former a bit sparse because of The Prodigy.

Seeing Goldie's live show on Glade becoming a Glastonbury tradition for us now. It was rammed too.

As anyone who actually watched the set already knew, no charges against Kneecap.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,027 ✭✭✭Dr Robert

There was never going to be charges. They did nothing wrong but some Karen made an official complaint so they had to investigate.

What a waste of everyone's time.

Had a great time. Dry conditions underfoot make such a difference but have to say the heat got a bit much for me at times and I felt like I didn't get as much out of it as I could.

Neil Young was the set of the festival for me, if not my favourite Glastonbury set ever. Knocking LCD Soundsystem 2016 down to 2nd place is no mean feat! John Fogerty, Goat, Glass beams, Goldie also brilliant. Supergrass were fantastic opening the Pyramid on the Friday, was just such a good atmosphere.

Was great spending some quality time with esteemed boardsies @Seathrun66 and @darzog. Sounds like the boards crew might be even bigger next time!
