Picked mine up last week, very happy with it do far, its a lovely car to drive. However it's my first ev and I am shocked at how expensive public charging is here. My old diesel car was cheaper to run than using public charging. Will have home charger in soon thankfully.

No, I asked about it when picking the car up and Renault said they don't supply them with new cars anymore. They weren't even available to buy from them.

What's the timeline like these days for a SEAI grant and a new charger installation?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2, Paid Member Posts: 6,528 ✭✭✭Buddy Bubs

Charger installation could be next day or next month depending on how busy the installer you use is and what part of the country you live in.

SEAI grants definitely take a good few weeks

Your diesel may temporarily be slightly cheaper to fuel, but certainly not cheaper to 'run'.

On the other hand, EVs are nicer, quicker, more engaging, quieter, and cleaner.

All that for just a few cents more at a public charging facility? Sounds good to me.

One week for me, from calling installer to when he can install. As Buddy Buds said, it seems to be just how busy your installer is. Not sure on the SEAI grant timeline yet

Well you can pick one up handy enough on Amazon. Think even Lidl had them a while ago.

    Masterplug 10A 2.4kW Mode 2 Type 2 Plug Portable EV Charger 10m - Screwfix

I've had this one for a few years now and has worked brilliantly in all weathers. Recommend a 10m charger over a 5m.

that one is on special on Amazon.ie at the moment…..€152 delivered

    1. Grant approval within hours.
    2. Installation depends on who you pick. Could be next day.
    3. Grant payment following submitted docs can be anywhere from 3-6 weeks depending on when you lodge the paperwork in relation to their payment cycle.

I’ve had the payment back in 2 weeks but I’ve also had it back in 6 weeks, hence the timeline.

went to look at one today, Renault are offering 4k off list and 0% on HP. Looking at the iconic esprit alpine in black.

Getting slightly better than anywhere else on my trade. Will probably go for it. Only potential drawback is I don’t want those 20 inch oracle wheels that are supposed to be. Feature of the iconic, given that I’m going with the alpine presuming it comes with the 20 inch alpine wheels and not the oracles. The oracles are like the abomination of yokes Kia have on the ev3

I'm pretty sure Renault got rid of the white interior and oracle wheels, there's only the techno and the esprit alpine trim levels now

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 765 ✭✭✭eastie17

Recent delivery with cream interior and oracle wheels https://youtu.be/r40-e8f6uPk?si=DJ-2TE-Ulhy1IiUs

Is that a straight no-quibble 4K off list price of every Renault? That makes it quite interesting now.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,820 ✭✭✭fafy

scenic esprit alpine is price listed at €49495, excluding delivery and metallic, i believe delivery is €1,100 ish, bringing it to €50,595, is this 4k discount of that price ?

It wasn't the best combination for the highest spec trim level, they changed to the esprit alpine being the top spec now across the whole range which is the nicest trim level

Plus the opportunity to lower that a bit more by getting rid of these nonsense items included in that price…

SMART Insurance - Covers dents, scratches, chips, and bumper scuffs up to 15cm in diameter. If the damage is too severe to fix at your location, you receive €250 toward body shop costs, and you can claim up to €3000 for repairs. It's a 3-year coverage.

SUPAGARD/Glasscoat - Lifetime paint and fabric protection, including a sealant for the car's exterior so you won't need to wax or polish, ideal for families with kids.

GAP Insurance - Provides Guaranteed Asset Protection if the car is stolen or written off. If your insurance only covers the market value, we'll make up the difference and help you get a car of similar value.

yes it is, paid 47,495 but got metallic so it was 51, 595. Got a 1500 trade in bonus and financed part of it as they are offering 0 per cent finance. Picked it up yesterday, it’s the missuses car and she loves it so far. Got black, 19 inch black spoke alloys, privacy glass is properly dark too so it’s very black

    Metallic paint was 4k extra?

For anyone VRTing a 2024 Renault Scenic currently, What are the thoughts re: OMSP on revenue website?

44367 seems a bit high for a 241Espirit Alpine trim with 10k miles.

VRT working out at 288 euro on website.

42k seems closer to the mark based on Donedeal?

An appeal on that 42k price wouldn't claw back too much tax anyways I guess.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2, Paid Member Posts: 20 Eboneezer

    FYI:

VRT paid today on a 241 scenic - 7779 miles.

288 euro VRT and Tyre Fee of 11.20euro making 299.20 total. (OMSP of 44,367 on VRT website)

VRT appeal entered - will let ye know how that goes.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2, Paid Member Posts: 20 Eboneezer

Just to close on the above.

VRT appeal was successful - OMSP for a 241 Scenic with Espirit Alpine Trim with 7800 miles reduced to 40845 euro.

VRT payable is zero due to electric vehicle relief.

Just the 11.20 tyre fee payable.

This car came up in conversation in work earlier from someone asking me about EVs, so had a read back through the thread. Mentioned in the thread that 22kw AC is standard in Ireland, is this correct? It was from @derekreilly but was a pre launch comment so maybe it changed.

If so, would be a front runner as she will be able to charge in work very quickly on our 3 phase chargers which most cars would be limited to 11kw on and the bigger battery would put range concerns to bed.

Can any owners confirm? The Renault website has 11 and 22 options listed.

Here you go. This was Marks review of it a year ago and starts to talk about batteries 13mins 42s into it and then at 14minutes he answers your question. They have 22 kW on board charging as standard. I know the Scenic has recently received an update though so maybe Renault have changed that. Best way is to ask a few Dealers and check for it too.
