This worked, thank you. I assume this only applies to Croke Park matches where they expect there to be plenty of capacity.

Would you be able to get more than one and would the tickets be of the same quality and standard as the original ones before you go to exchange them.

season tickets are a pure lottery especially when the allocation sells out , there will be others with great seats in 304 and 305 , i know lots that got 302 last year and had been season ticket holders for over 10 years

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,252 ✭✭✭diceyreilly

    Brutal.

Mad they are the same price as 304/5/6

Just a question on the season tickets; When you buy it at the start of the year the site asks you for for your club. I think it also does it when you buy the tickets themselves. Does that mean some of the money goes to your club?

Or is it just for surveying purposes?

Money doesn’t go to the club cos it’s optional if you fill it in or not as its after the payment screen.
Got fair bored of it after 2/3 times and just clicked out of it.

I was lucky last year and got 305. There were plenty of other ST holders around us too.

I'd prefer for the ticket pricing to stay as is rather than based on where you're sitting in the stadium as that will just inevitably lead to even higher tickets prices.

Don't see this covered here or in the FAQ on TM, but if you have Adult+ Juvenile ST (and meet the 6 game purchase criteria) do you get 2 All Ireland Final tickets (1 Adult, 1 juvenile but at full price)?

Full price is fine as long as I can buy 2…

Am concerned I have missed something where Juvenile is excluded for a Final.

You can get two - I was the same last year. €100 each and seating in section 304 Cusack lower.

    Great, thank you.

Now that the All-Ireland finalists have been decided and there are a load of "genuine" supporters crying out for tickets for the finals, I'd like to know why all these "genuine" supporters didn't buy the season ticket last October/November when they went on sale?

I know what you're going to say; "Not everyone is made of money, they probably can't afford it". That's true but the season ticket is a one-off yearly payment of €140 for hurling and €150 for football. For that you have free entry to all league games. To qualify for an All-Ireland final ticket you have to buy a ticket for a minimum of five championship matches. Attendance is not recorded so in theory you don't have to attend any games, you could buy the ticket for each game and sell it to someone and get your money back. You can transfer it to someone on Ticketmaster and get paid by PayPal/Revolut so you could do it sitting at home. I don't know why anyone would want to buy tickets for a game and then not go but in theory you could do it and get your All-Ireland ticket at the end of the year.

So for €140/150 you could qualify for an AI ticket and stay at home all year. I wouldn't do it myself but it is an option.

Maybe people don't want the hassle of selling tickets online and are not computer literate (don't know how to transfer tickets etc.). Just putting the question out there.

In this day and age, no reason the GAA can't offer final tickets to everyone who attended 100% of games in Championship then

For example could have made tickets available to Kerry and Donegal fans today that attended the 100% games, Tues those who missed 1 game, Weds 2 games and then remaining tickets could be released

I have 2 Mayo season tickets since day 1.

It was an excellent initiative at the start and good value but they eroded it bit by bit over the years to the point now that I don't think I can afford them next year.

I used to go to every league game and make a weekend of it with the Mrs.We can't do that anymore because of hotel prices. So we end up paying for games we can't attend. Then you have the costs associated with getting to the 6 championship games (we'd be going to all these anyway) but you see where I'm going with this

If we did manage to start going to the away league games again in Tralee,Armagh, Omagh, Ballybofey,Croker each trip used to cost about €500 on hotel, diesel, food and drink.I understand it could obviously be done cheaper but there were literally thousands of like minded fans doing this up until covid. The price of the 6 championship matches is another €200 and that's before taking into account away day travel expenses.

It certainly isn't the case of it being €140 a year.

But it is actually. My post was in the context of qualifying for a ticket for the AI final. If you can get a buyer for the championship tickets you don't have to go to them, you just have to buy them and sell them to someone else.

Attendance at league games is not taken into account for qualifying for an AI ticket.

You need 6 Championship games (paid if attended or not) to qualify for AI ticket.

That's about 200e before thinking about travel costs, plus 140e per season ticket.

When broken down its a couple of grand a year.

In my house that runs into thousands.

I can't afford that every year.

It is worse if you are a Dublin fan. Local hoteliers put up the prices when the Dubs are coming to town. I used do 2 trips a year overnight. Now, if I can't get up and down in one day, I don't go.

Will eat along the way somewhere else, many more Dubs thinking like me, towns are losing out because of greed.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,201 ✭✭✭HBC08

I'd argue its a lot worse from a Mayo point of view.

The hotel prices are based on supply and demand and will go up for any game or event happening in the town.

The difference is Dublin is served by the best roads in the country. Kerry,Mayo ,Donegal etc are the opposite.

Anyway, the season ticket used to be brilliant and save you a bit of cash, then the savings went out of it and now it costs to have it.

The only reason anybody has one now is final tickets. The proof is in the pudding, both Mayo and Dublin season tickets didn't sell out last year for the first time since the scheme was introduced

In my case I have two tickets.Leaving aside the travel costs, food, accommodation etc that costs me a minimum of €700 a year. Not a amoubt I can just shrug my shoulders at.

I am the same. At least with a new manager and a new setup, and possibly even more retirements, the league will be worth watching.

Zero sympathy for Dublin supporters given that the vast majority of their games are in Croke Park, and normally on a Saturday so they can enjoy their pints down their local afterwards without having to worry about work the day after, where they can have a lie in, hop on public transport and be home in time for their tea.

Contrast that to other counties where you can be up the crack of dawn, drive for 4 or 5 hours each way, spend a fortune on fuel and food and get home at hours leaving you wrecked for work on Monday as they always seem to get stuck with Sunday fixtures while Dublin get the Saturday game(s). I imagine that will be the common reaction here. Just to be clear, it's not aimed at you personally - it's a general comment about how "easy" Dublin supporters have it compared to other counties.

All of the travelling and hassle of getting to matches is half the enjoyment.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 33,195 ✭✭✭✭blanch152

Getting back to Dublin from a 7:00 throw-in in Castlebar of a Saturday evening is no great shakes.

The reason they put the Dubs on a Saturday evening is to encourage them to stay the night. Unfortunately, the local businesses killed that golden egg.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,810 ✭✭✭BandMember

You clearly have no idea about how big Mayo is or the distance that a lot of fans have to travel to even get to Castlebar…..

The reason they put the Dubs on a Saturday night is to attract the bandwagoners/casual supporters who can enjoy their pints without having to work the next day (which boosts the local economy) and it also gives their players an extra days recovery.

How does it give their players an extra days recovery????

This is one of the bizarre tropes thrown out by sports supporters all the time. If the Dubs played the previous Sunday, surely they have a day less recovery?

The Saturday night 7:00 down the country was designed to boost the local economy, something Dubs are getting tired of being fleeced for.
