Yes but somebody that just arrives here and not here long without ever paying taxes or just a little should not get those kind of benefits. In the UK they get feck all.

How old are you? Stop pissing and moaning and get your **** together, get a foot on the property ladder, think clever, buy a starter with an eye on where you want to be. Grow up and stop blaming everyone else, if you think migrants are cleverer than you become one.

I get your where your coming from but the last two years housing is now a complete and utter cluster **** in Ireland. It’s not down to immigrants and social homes as OP is saying, the full blame lies on the government. It’s not as easy to say someone to knuckle down and get your house, it’s not as simple as that anymore when houses are going over 100k of asking price, and these are fixer uppers as well and when you have wife and kids to support and paying extorniate rent at the same time where the rent is 50% more than what your monthly mortgage payment would be.

And if you ask in the UK, they will say the same nonsense, that foreigners get everything free and illegals are looked after better than English people. Utter bollox there too it is

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,667 ✭✭✭con___manx1

It's not utter bollox tho. All I have to do is ride like a rabbit and knock a few chaps out of my misses go on the dole get hap and never work a day in my life. Fair enough if an Irish person does that but someone straight off the boat should be deported.

I haven't been on the dole since the last recession and I emigrated to find work twice. I really hate these kind of people. The op of this tread would litreally be nearly better of on the dole and work part time. He would get hap and everything paid for. The system is fucked.

Stop Giving a care about what anyone else has or gets and focus on what you can do to sort out your life Op.

Start by speaking about your partner a bit better and yes there'll always be others with more but plenty gave less.

Count your bloody blessings. Go over your finances and see what can ge changed.

And take your attitude towards others and maybe look at improving it.

Why are you calling your partner a dependent? The reality is in Ireland that both people in a relationship have to work.

    Thou shalt not covet.

'Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.' The second is this: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ There is no commandment greater than these.

Whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows generously will also reap generously. Each of you should give what you have decided in your heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.

    Etc, etc.

Same situation as op earning just over 70k my partner is caring for our two children so sole earner also. On paper it looks like good money and it's not to be sniffed at. But I am struggling and feel like I'm living paycheck to paycheck half the time. Everything is so expensive and when you feel like you're out of the woods the fridge breaks the showers f**cked and herselfs car needs a clutch.

I get ya brother I know you're not a racist, this site can be toxic for people piling on chomping at the bit to sniff out 'racists'. Sad sad people. Is nobody aloud to sound their views here if it doesn't conform to narrative that only exists in the media and online?

I don't begrudge the o.p. for wanting to know what his entitlements are, and creating a discussion. I'd wager the welcome wagon brigade on here don't have children. Alot of the same faces arguing with people who have genuine concerns. Always quick to be offended on other's behalf.

Self hating Irish men and Irish women. You are the loud minority.

Why should an Irish person that does that be any better off than an immigrant? Just because they drew a bad throw of the dice on where they were born?

Laziness doesn't depend on nationality and neither should we.

I agree the system is a mess. I am paying a fortune in rent and will probably never own a house, and I know Irish people who never have and never will put any effort into bettering themselves. And no I am not talking about genuine cases due to health or other real reasons.

Why the hell is everybody focusing on my comment about immigrants? I never blamed them for anything.

I just mean that they arrive here with no passport and only the shirt on their back, and they know exactly what free stuff they're entitled to. Perhaps from hearing stories from their countrymen , or they have some NGO holding their hands helping them to get absolutely every entitlement possible, or they have free legal advice with a checklist. Did you get your free tent? Did you apply to this list and that list? We'll get you a free hotel room soon, just sign here. You need to get your other free thing, you didn't apply for that, here let me help you fill out the form etc etc

I'm trying to get the same level of knowledge as them. I am not blaming them for anything.

Maybe I just need to get an appointment with citizens advice.

its implied, we all know the craic here! yes, its not right that many are now seriously struggling, and many are well paid such as yourself, but again, it has little or nothing to do with immigrants, but more so to do with the way we have structured our economies and societies in the west, i.e. to elevate and encourage wealth inequality, immigrants are just convenient scapegoats for these outcomes, similar to welfare classes!

no harm in citizens info, always very helpful, but limited at times, the west is in the sh1tter regarding these issues, and nobody knows what to do about it!

You don't have two dependents. You have one: a child who didn’t ask to be born. The other adult is just choosing not to contribute.

Maybe instead of looking for benefits meant for people who are actually vulnerable (like the elderly or those in real need) you could just... tell your girlfriend to get a job? Wild idea, I know.

Having a child without being financially ready and expecting public support isn’t responsible. It’s pure entitlement 🤬

First of all everyone knows that what you are saying is simply untrue and second there was an election last November and the voters made it verey clear that thye had no time for this BS, so that means that about 94 out of every 100 adults you meet every day don't agree with you, so you're just going to have to get used to the fact that you are a member of a very small minority or try and find your people else where on the internet.

you can take your child out of the state funded school and put them in a private school if you like. At primary level that’ll cost you around 15000 a year.
that’s how much your child’s education is subsidised every year at the very least. Private schools also get tax payers money.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 31,279 ✭✭✭✭Wanderer78

its estimated it costs roughly a million per person to publicly educate a person over their lifetime

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 96 ✭✭AugustRain

what specifically do you want to know about your entitlements? I can help you save you bothering with your local CIC.

I dont understand why comments along the lines of "foreigners arrive here and scrounge or game the system" are allowed on here. I'm sure there's plenty of foreign people on boards who work hard and contribute. Why should they have to read that nonsense.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 31,279 ✭✭✭✭Wanderer78

anti-immigration sentiments are being allowed right across boards at the moment, encouraged by some, not all, moderators, i.e. boards is quickly turning to sh1te, similar to other social media platforms

Oh boy, some people are either dreadfully misinformed or believe all the misinformation spouted by the usual far right morons.

Surprised you have a job that pays well if you are so unbelievably gullible if you actually believe what you have said in your post.
