Just bought Ace Combat 7 there, was 80% off so took the plunge. Anyone on here played it? Think it was the Top Gun edition or something. Just discussing the base game though.

Top Gun edition is just some top gun skins and the (pretty good) DLC.

Anyway I loved the game. Loads of action and one of the best soundtracks of decade. The story is laughably goofy as well.

Just make sure you play with the advanced controls. Take a little getting used to but they are way more fun and give you way more movement.

You are not alone, just scroll back 😁

    It's a good game.

They should bring out a game where you can bomb the hell out of israel with long range missiles. I'd pay more than a game is worth for that. And have US and NATO help israel but still miss missiles coming through.

Finally got a chance to put 5 or 6 hours into Death Stranding 2. Loving it so far.

Finished Skin Deep, and relieved that it held up as my favourite game of the year so far right through the end. Even the biggest issue I had with it - the visual and structural similarities of the levels - turned into an asset for me. By removing and adding particular tools, as well as just the right amount of tweaks and complications, Blendo really is encourage experimentation. By the last level I was using absolutely everything at my disposal to defeat enemies - often embracing the chaos of massive explosions alongside the simple joys of tossing a banana peel in front of a patrolling enemy. Just a wonderful toolset for emergent gameplay and player creativity. A funny, charming and imaginative game that really is something special.

On an immersive sim buzz so jumped right into System Shock remake. Around four hours in and throughly enjoying it, albeit with a few gripes. It’s certainly labyrinthine level design, but loving digging into a level to find out what it has to offer - especially since the game’s guidance is very subtle and often hidden in logs. Playing on default difficulty resource management is tricky, though relying big time on my energy pistol which is rechargeable and decimates robot enemies. The biggest irritants so far are the door puzzles and cyberspace levels. I love the theme and very 90s presentation of the latter, though the rather imprecise shooting - especially against rapid moving, highly aggressive enemies - gets fairly annoying, especially as you have to replay the whole thing if you fail. The door puzzles meanwhile are very time consuming and not interesting to justify that time. But the overall hook of the game remains potent enough to push through the less elegant parts, and Nightdive have done a good job preserving the essence of the classic im-sim while adding just enough little modern additions to make the experience more welcoming.

The system shock remake is excellent and is pretty much a 90s looking glass immersive sims with modern graphics. Warts and all. I'm with you on the door puzzle but you can skip a lot of them with the right items later in the game. The cyberspace stuff feels like a bad version of descent, I much preferred how it's handled in the original game. And the final level isn't as visually interesting as in the original game which

remains metallic whereas the original game has the level being consumed by organize material showing how SHODAN was growing and transcending her form as a machine

The game really doesn't hold your hand at all, you have to really be clued in on what people say and the audio logs to figure out where to go and what to do. One thing I will advise you to do is take a note of what is on the screens in each of the computer rooms when you destroy the nodes. Jot it down otherwise you will have to do a very annoying backtracking quest later on.

Enjoy Ace Combat 8 announcement day everyone. I'll be at Weezer so won't be able to check until I'm back from that.

Uh oh, two gaming mods at Weezer.

Better implement a temporary three hour ban on any mention of 'Zelda map markers' or 'Days Gone' to avoid any trouble.

Banning mention of Days Gone because ye'll be at Weezer? Say it ain't so!

I don't care what they say about Zelda map markers anyway. I don't care 'bout that.

If you think that's awful, wait until you hear most of Weezer's output over the past 20 years!

(I have a deep affection for vintage Weezer and even scattered eras in their more recent history, so I'll always forgive Rivers for the many bad albums).

No chance on the latter, I'm at Weezer too 😆

So, Deacon St John. Is that your real name?

Well actually, my name is Jonas...

I saw Weezer play their entire Blue album + a few more of their hits before Smashing Pumpkins in the 3Arena last year. And they were only brilliant. Way better than Smashing Pumpkins. 😁 Enjoy. Nice evening for it too.

Just grabbed that set list from last year and yeah it was superb

Well still playing CyberPunk 2077. Just met Keanu Reeves. Nice twist to the story that I wasn't expecting.

Downloaded and finished Jusant last night. About 5.5 hours. Grand little game, very straight forward and linear. Artsy game. Might be a grand palate cleaner between games.

I did just finish Eternal Strands before it, 44 hours and about 24 more than I expected! Excellent effort from a new studio, definitely a lot of ex-Immortals: Fenyx Rising devs on it as it felt very similar at times. Pretty good story, combat is simplistic enough and gets a bit repetitive towards the end. The bosses are the standout part of combat, which each of the roughly 10 bosses requiring a different approach. Climbing similar to SOTC.

Standout feature though was the voice acting. A simply superb job from everyone involved, every character felt real and done an amazing job bringing reality and humanity to the roles. Honestly some of the best voice acting in any game. It does tick a few of the "woke" elements, but its not in your face or pushed, they just are and the story continues, so it doesnt interfere at all, even with the out of the blue relationship I ended up in but again, it's just something rather than a distraction, adds more/different dialogue.

And boy is there a lot of dialogue. Skippable lines, thankfully, and well implemented so you can horse through them if you read quick. A lot also seems avoidable by just focusing on the main quests, not sure how or if it affects the story much or at all, as my ocd ensured I did everything I could! Could platinum it with a couple more hours. Recommended, even if it could have been a tad shorter. Don't expect anything more than a good example of a lot of mechanics working together, mostly.

Ah, not only is Nintendo making games for PC now, it's also supporting older machines. 😁
