Its being opened by the couple who are running the cafe in Fairtree Village (ballyseedy). They also opened one in the outdoor area of Fairtree Village.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9 kerrylad12

it's opened by Nathan McDonnells friend, who took over the cafe in ballyseedy garden centre WEEKS after Nathan was arrested for drug trafficking and organized crime links.
how conveniently that they also took over Nathan's second premises in Kerry…

But guess people don't mind spending their hard earned money in these places, regardless of its connections.

I'd rather support local legit businesses myself

Anyone got any idea what being built in the site on the left in upper Oakpark as you head out of town? A lot of activity there for the past week. New site shuttering up. Was planning for a Nursing home a few years ago.

    T.

I'm sure there were lots of former friends or acquaintances of McDonnell who were completely unaware of his criminal activities. Is it fair to tarnish them as equally guilty just by association? Would you rather the garden centre or restaurant in Ardfert stayed vacant and become derelict? Is everyone who decides to start a new business in those venues equally culpable? That's a very flawed logic tarring friends or acquaintances or indeed the customers of both businesses with the same judgemental brush!

And no, I don't know Nathan at all..apart from what I've read of him since the crime made the news.

It makes me wonder what your connection with the different parties is that made you sign up purely to diss the businesses and imply that they're not legit. They wouldn't be the first businesses to change hands and names after a bit of notoriety.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9 kerrylad12

absolutely no connection. Just a pissed off citizen that these people literally can do what they want, and get the support of the public like nothing has happened.
If an "acquaintance" of mine was arrested for drugs haul that size last thing I would be doing is stepping in and taking over both their businesses. Out of respect and out of concern for my reputation.

I'll be spending my money elsewhere anyway. Each to their own.

I went to school with Nathan, I guess that makes me a criminal too.

I know a lot of people in Kerry will not step foot in the place even though they feel sorry for the hard working staff who done nothing wrong, it would be different if the place was sold and new owners where trying to make a go of it, but it is not sold

Work being done on O'Connell's butchers @ the junction of Boherbue & Moyderwell. Must have been vacant for a decade or more.

What's going on with Oakview creche? See a few odd posts on FB but no real explanation.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,852 ✭✭✭cms88

I've seen Clódagh Moynihan, who was i think the owner?, commenting on it saying how she wasn't involved etc yet i haven't actually seen what's going on.

that's was some statement that she put out 🫣 must be fairly serious whatever it is

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,498 ✭✭✭phormium

Yes that's what made me wonder, anyways now I've seen the allegations, it's on Reddit! How much is true or not who knows but it's not a good look for any business of that sort!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,852 ✭✭✭cms88

It seems very odd. I'm not very familiar with Reddit but there seems to be a lot of new users commenting on it on both sides.

Some things with Moynihans statement seem odd. If she wasn't involved with the day to day running what exactly was she doing?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,576 ✭✭✭Ciarrai76

she's not the owner and isn't working with them anymore (she was there for a long time though). She has a statement up, but like you I don't know what was said or what allegations she is claiming were made?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,576 ✭✭✭Ciarrai76

I can't seem to find anything on Reddit about it? Can anyone PM me a link. I have a child who goes to their afterschool so would like to see what's been happening.

''Statement Regarding Recent Alleged Incidents at Oakview
    Tralee, Co. Kerry – 24th June 2025
To the families, staff and wider community,
It is with deep regret that I feel the need to issue this statement.
I am deeply saddened by the recent allegations surrounding alleged incidents at Oakview Village Childcare, Tralee, and I would like to issue this statement to unequivocally clarify my position and support for the families involved.
I had no involvement or knowledge, directly or indirectly, regarding any of the events or decisions currently under scrutiny at Oakview, nor in any other matters which may now come under review, from the end of 2022 up to the date of my resignation.
I formally resigned from Oakview as of 28th February 2025; however, I had no operational involvement in the day-to-day running of any Oakview Service from the end of 2022, in line with an executive decision made to ensure the company could operate independently and not remain overly reliant on me.
To see what has now allegedly happened in the company I devoted 15 years to building, a company that was widely regarded as an exceptional, child-led model is devastating to say the least.
As a proud mother and business consultant, my personal and professional life is anchored in principles of integrity, accountability, ethical practice and a caring approach to all I do. It is precisely because of these deeply held values that I stand wholly apart from the actions currently under investigation.
I support due process and responsible dialogue. Not only do I trust that the facts will be clearly established in time, but I also hope that the families involved receive the respect and support they deserve.
    Sincerely,
    Clódagh Moynihan''

Ithought she was the owner. She was always there when they were winning awards etc

I think a lot of posts have been deleted about it.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,261 ✭✭✭xxyyzz

It was a complete sh*tshow on reddit yesterday. Some very serious allegations were made and a number of people were named. There are some absolute dopes who just can't grasp that you do no not name people on social media and make "I heard from someone who heard from someone that xyz was happening" allegations. If there is an investigation into this, naming people online will endanger it.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,018 ✭✭✭lordleitrim

I think your one who issued that statement created the circus that followed. She should not have done that and let due process and any official child welfare investigation take place. You now have innocent staff members being dragged into the mess and speculated about on social media.

looks like a lot has been deleted as barely anything up there now! I don't know why people can't understand how naming people publicly like that is so dangerous. So many dopes that need to stay off social media!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,852 ✭✭✭cms88

You'd wonder why she even bordered with it in the first place.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,261 ✭✭✭xxyyzz

Somebody named her on Reddit and it was subsequently deleted.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,576 ✭✭✭Ciarrai76

Its scary how anything like what is being alleged can happen given the amount of CCTV a daycare centre has and how the management didn't act on anything when it was reported!?

Does anyone know what the procession up Stacks Villas was about this evening? Red and white flags with ultras written on them.
