And it's RTE NL that operate the sites not RTE , technically they could have carried commercial services..…

I believe the TXs were sold ?

IF, and it's a big IF , the current tests are made permanent then a RTE return to DAB could happen , but not anytime soon.

DAB array is still up on the ‘Rock Solid’ facility at Three Rock too if anyone fancies getting an experimental MUX!

RTÉ returned their DAB spectrum licence in 2021. To restart their mux a new application to Comreg would be required but unlikely to happen until a new national DAB policy is put in place by the media commission.

The DAB test and trial mux licence won't convert to a fully operational commercial mux.

The media commission must put a national DAB policy in place prior to any commercial DAB service going into operation. The policy would have to include capacity allocation for existing FM services, service areas, tender to operate any commercial mux(es).

Until this is in place I can't see RTÉ returning, once bitten twice shy, so to speak.
