MIC will be de-chromed and will not have the piano black centre console

The very 1st versions of that car actually came from Fremont, in late 2020… but they arrived in only 1 delivery cycle, so they would be few and far between.

They had the interior refresh, de-chrome, heat pump, but had the older non LFP battery, the WLTP on this very short lived version was 428km (up from the original SR+ of 409km, (so the heat pump alone was worth an extra 19km of WLTP)).

Then the first 2021 delivered cars (SR+) were MIC with the same interior, but with the lfp battery, and the WLTP of this version was 448km

Note that some of the very 1st MIC SR+ cars had the original 0-100 time of 5.6s (even with LFP batteries), as any of these cars that happened to be ordered when the advertised 0-100 was still 5.6s got that acceleration time. but any new orders that came in after production switched to China got the slower 6.1s 0-100 time, and the RWD (SR) has been there ever since..

why go to main dealer for suspension work out of warranty?

No local mechanic to do it?

Time is against me as I’m leaving on the Ferry in just over 2 weeks for a 6 week trip across Europe!! So parts availability would be my main concern…

I’ll do it this time, but will order a new set of parts and get it done at an Indy in the future (if I still have the car)

Would it be worth going local with spurious parts?

I have one of these refreshed Fremont long range models. No idea if it has any benefits over the Chinese made ones.

probably would, but again, I’m a bit pressed for time….. going up now to get 2 new tyres fitted, and have a load of other crap to do before we go away….

I was taken a bit by surprise as I thought it was just the upper control arms that needed replacing but then they hit me with the other stuff…

Lesson learned though and I’ll be sourcing the parts and keeping them ‘in stock’ for next time..

the Chinese ones will probably be of slightly better build quality…

I'm up to Belfast for the work on Monday as there was no chance to get it done in Dublin! so fingers crossed they don't fcuk me around (again)…. I'll be bringing up an iPad loaded with sh1te to watch and will be camping it out for the day!!

I've just put 2 new front tyres on, I was going to then put them on the rear axle and move the rears up front, but they are already too close to the limit (I thought there was more life left in them, but a closer look this morning revealed otherwise!!) I could and would normally probably stretch them out for a few more weeks given its summer, but with going away in 2 weeks, in a car that'll be fully loaded, I'm not taking the chance so ordered 2 more tyres and will have a full new set on board!!

Also while I was waiting I think I unwittingly convinced a lady there waiting for a puncture fix to buy a Model 3!!

I hope you gave her the order link for her free miles 😁

I actually didn't (couldn't live with the shame as I'd have had to awkwardly ask a complete stranger to give me their contact details so as to send them a referral link, and I'm far too socially awkward to do that!), but I did mention it & say it to her that she should make sure to use 'someones' referral to save €500 on one if she pulls the trigger!!

I think she'd been out to Sandyford to see one and wants to test drive one, as once a week she's up/down the country in a diesel, so it must be costing a fair bit!! so she just wanted some first hand knowledge of road tripping/charging etc…

I'm a bit awkward too, but I would have been all over that 😀.

"Here's my number lady if you want a referral link for money off, text me. They give me free miles, so we both benefit". Happy days for everyone.

I've only got maybe 5 or 6 referrals, but I used my credits wisely (mostly). Got 5k klms to use for driving to/from Germany. Got a roof rack which came in handy for hauling my solar battery case from my return trip. Then wasted the rest on a Tesla-quila set, Model S model, T-Shirt, bag and jacket. All great quality items.

I only got 3 referrals, but all in the old system where we just got 1,500km of Supercharging per referral, so including my own I had 6,000km of free Supercharging… It was a great system because that 1,500km had to be achievable in the most inefficient Tesla (Big X?), so it meant in the more efficient cars like the Model 3 it actually meant much more than 1,500km… I worked it out to be equal to around 2,300km of free motorway supercharging in real world terms for my car.

I got my car in March 2020 and didn’t have to pay to Supercharge until the remaining km I had in my account finally expired in October 2022… so when I did the 1,300km from Cherbourg to Kiel and the same back again it was all for free!!

Belfast will ride u on labour costs. Plus the tracking required after the parts changed. They are a complete rip off. I think the labour cost on mine was about 180£ per hour and the tracking which takes a few mins was around the same. Crazy.

I'm getting Tesla to to the suspension/steering work, but will get it aligned myself back home…

It's been mis-aligned for the guts of 100,000km now so a few more km at this stage won't hurt it!!

The big lesson for me is don't bring the car for a check up only 5 weeks before going away in it on a very big holiday trip..
