    Hi all,

Just pulled the trigger on a M3H yesterday, can’t wait to get it. I’m sure my question was asked many times but can’t see answers in 4.0 threads pages so here it goes.

What accessories are you finding to be critical to get. And if you have links to them would be great.

    My current thinking is

S3XY knob and some trays, tire plug kit

Do you recommend the likes of floor mats, screen protector - front and/or back. Is the M3H suspect for the 12V battery issues to get a jump starter?

The stalks don’t bother me, neither the likes of a carbon fibre spoiler or anything like that. More looking into practical accessories.

    Thanks

Just the trays and floor mats, I've never had a screen protector on any of my cars and all A Okay.

The Tesla has a Lit Ion "12v" (actually 15v) so will never need to worry you as should last life of the car

My stuff on Adverts, mostly Tesla Pre Highland Model 3

Have a M3H since Feb 24 with 22k on it and the original mats are in perfect condition so don’t see why people always say to change them, also never thought I need more storage either. Not done a thing to the car other than a plug kit and tyre inflator in case of a puncture. Some people seem to need to add things but it’s not really necessary imho.

Screen protector is advised. Better to spend 40 quid on one than a couple of grand replacing a cracked screen. I replaced the screen protector on my M3 just before I sold it. A couple weeks previous, I noticed a small chip and a crack going through the protector. Something had hit the edge of the screen and were it not for the protector, it could have been an expensive repair. You can also get the anti-glare ones which are great and attract less finger prints.

On the mats, the original ones are fine. I just replace them because I prefer to put mats everywhere to protect the whole cabin, frunk and trunk and the rear of the vertical benches. It helps keep the car in top condition. The upgrades mats are easier to clean and keep the dirt from getting under them, thanks to the tub type design on the better ones.

    Plug kit for sure!

Yeah all those times I dropped my model 3 screen on the floor and nearly cracked it 😂 what is a screen protector doing for you exactly?

Reducing glare and finger prints and as in my own example above, probably saved me a fortune. While it's unlikely you will crack the screen, it only takes a second for it to happen. Plenty of examples online and I'm happy to spend 40 quid to reduce the chances. The antiglare alone is worth it.

Are the “pucks” to be able to jack the car up still needed?

Thank you. Is there any accessory out there that you don’t have 😉

    The mattress and fridge 😋

I do have a Tesla compressor kit if anyone is interested. Half the price of whatever the Tesla site sells them for. I have a separate compressor I prefer.

I just checked the shop. They don't sell the same kit. I paid 120 for mine. 60 if anyone needs one. It's a compressor with sealant, plus an extra sealant canister.

106,000km and never had a screen protector, and the screen still looks factory new after a quick wipe with a microfibre cloth.

I carry Jack pucks. They are not required to jack the car but they do make the process of jacking the car foolproof (cheap set on eBay will suffice). An inexperienced operative could damage the car when jacking without jack pucks… they make it foolproof. I’ve bought 12 new tyres in total online and always get them fitted locally and they have or ask for the pucks..

I carry a 12v compressor and plug kit (both Amazon) and also a long nose pliers (no point having a plug kit if you can’t get the screw/nail out).

I also carry a few first aid kits, charging cables and a 1.5L bottle of tap water (spare windscreen washer top up)

And finally I also carry a spare USB flash drive as randomly maybe 1-2 times a year my Dashcam microSD card stops working for a day or 2..

S3XY knob and some trays, tire plug kit

If this is your first Tesla, I would hold off with the S3XY knob for at least a couple of months. Get used to the car and how all the various features and systems operates.

The S3XY knob/commander is great enhancement, but you get much better value when you are familiar with the limitations of the original setup.

Plus if you have any warranty issues in the first couple of months, you probably going to want to remove the commander from the OBD if the car is looked at by a technician.

Re: floor mats, I have deep sided "all weather" mats - great for easy cleaning if you often have a lot of muck on your shoes.

    The mattress and fridge

When the Storm Éowyn hit us, we were without power for 10 days.

Had the M3 fully charged in advance and had a car fridge - was a god send. It meant we could keep fresh food on hand and have all our devices and camp lights/torches charged.

The only problem was only 4 months earlier a Tesla update had disabled the 12V outlets and USB ports when the vehicle was off, including when Sentry Mode was enabled.

So to keep our car fridge going for over a week we had to have the camp mode on, which meant the HVAC system was running. So then had to turn off the AC so just the fans were running. Still didnt draw much power BUT was a bollox every time you opened the car it had to be reset.

There was a huge reaction from Tesla owners over this, so much so that in April they reintroduced the ability to keep 12V outlets powered even when the vehicle is off, through a new "Accessory Power" option.

I'm in Dublin, so less concerned about power cuts. Still…fridge be nice 😊

Signed the SEAI grant paperwork today and Tesla sent an email with their bank details (they rang me first) recommending to pay to not delay the process.

FI said they are waiting for an invoice from Tesla to send on the final paperwork.
The app is on task 5 of 7 to wait and schedule delivery, payment being task 6. Should I pay now or wait until the app gets to the payment stage or does it matter at all?

The car I picked still shows as in inventory, but I have no VIN yet and estimated delivery in late August early September. Chap on the phone confirmed no car available in Ireland in inventory.

How does one find out the battery size? I see posted here that it increased to 64 from 60. Would the VIN (once I have one) have this info?

Makes no difference but it ‘may’ speed up the process if you are paid.
If you are 100% committed then no harm sending the transfer. You’ll see it credit to your account in a day or so.

That will give you a bit of time to watch the few remaining M3 reviews and 8 secret feature videos on Youtube that you havent watched yet 😉
