Is there anywhere else to get em?

I know Currys are selling them but have none.

Managed to get one on Click & Collect this morning after debating for the last week between Switch 2 & Steam Deck. I’ve no doubt how good the SD is but ultimately the smaller footprint of the S2, ease of use, and its future potential won me over. Madden & FC25 launching later in the year were big deciding factors, too.

When you see CP2077 running on both devices, I think it was obvious that S2 is a more promising proposition where SD is about to hit the proverbial performance wall (if it hasn’t already).

So, where is everyone getting there games? Is there much difference between physical carts with the digital key versus direct online purchases? Assuming that carts with the actual game loaded onto them is best?

Was looking at cyberpunk 2077, almost half the price if I bought on PS5 instead of Switch 2 (€70 in Smyths)

Is it a 5 year old game?

I only got one game because and it was mariokart world for €40

The games seem to be a lot more expensive. To be expected I suppose. Next generation we'll be looking at e100 for new titles.

Yep. Dec 2020 - I remember buying it for Google Stadia for €60 with a free controller and chromecast ultra.

When the service shut down in Jan 2023, I got a full refund on all games & hardware ever purchased and was able to keep the hardware.

Just got the console in Smyths, no MK bundles left so if anyone has a code they want to sell on send me a pm.

I have a spare standard console if anyone is looking for one. Havent opened the box. I'm in the waterford/cork area.

Keep an eye on Amazon.ie for Pro controllers. A couple of times today they've had the delivery date as 22 or 23 June. Gone back out to August again now but hopefully they had some stock to hit the June date for some orders. All selling it for €80.65 so just over 9 quid cheaper than elsewhere

Nah it'll be this generation with GTA 6, and people will pay it.

I got MKW for 40 with the bundle and zelda botw switch 1 for 50 and free update with NSO expansion, which comes to the same price as the "physical" MKW if buying separately.

    They're in stock for 90 on amazon.co.uk.

Get onto amazon and complain about the price discrepancy between .ie and .co.uk, that's what I did and they gave me back the 10 quid difference.

Sunday 27 July delivery though, slightly better than August I guess. 😂

You can be smart about it if you're patient. I'm 30 hours into No Mans Sky now and it only cost me 20 quid.

Ill probably nab a physical copy of Cyberpunk when it's a bit cheaper.

I get the impression Nintendo are testing the waters a bit price wise at the moment. We'll see how it goes!

Speaking of prices, is €36 for Split Fiction from CDKeys a good deal? Particularly as the €50 boxed version is just a code in a box!!

Yeah Split Fiction is tons of fun. Just remember you need a second play at all times. You can't play any single player.

I also see star wars outlaws is coming in September for €50. It's gotten a lot of updates so could be a good option. Game key card too.

What are peoples thoughts on the Switch vs the new Rog Ally? I know there's probably a 300 quid difference in price, but i'm wondering if it's worth hanging on. I assume there's still no way to Remote Play from Xbox onto Switch?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,025 ✭✭✭Simi

If you already have a steam, epic, xbox game collection or a game pass subscription then the Rog Xbox Ally X maybe? They're very different devices with different target audiences.

There's been no announcement regarding Xbox streaming coming to the Switch 2 and I can't see why nintendo would want that. There's little to them to gain from it. They'd much rather developers including the studios microsoft own make native switch ports. The whole microsoft coming to switch thing is wishful thinking on the part of microsoft and tech enthusiasts imo.

Personally I bought a switch 2 and I'm going to hold out for a steam deck 2 or at least a handheld with RDNA 4 graphics. FSR4 will be a gamechanger for handheld gaming. Much better than the custom CNN model DLSS on Switch 2. But that's at least 1-2 years away.

No way right now, but Xbox have spoken about this in the past and said Xbox games will be coming to S2 and likely cloud gaming, and maybe a limited version of game pass, so I'd not rule it out. Just not sure of the time line.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 671 ✭✭✭mirrormatrix

OK cool. Not interested in Steam gaming. Just want to be able to remote play Xbox games (e.g. game pass) on a handheld. I love the Switch as a console, but I don't actually play any of the nintendo exclusives, so not sure the Switch 2 is adding up for me. I think Mario Rabbids was the only Nintendo game I bought in this gen.

Really getting into fast fusion. It's really great. Incredible value for money.

Prob better getting something like the Razer Kishi for the phone so. No point shelling out hundreds for a windows pc when you can stream game pass games just as well on a phone. Cost you around €50.

That might be an option alright. Lot of people recommending the Backbone, but 120EUR is an outrageous price.
