Yes, I believe that's how it works. You can port over your existing number, the port will be done by your new provider, this has to be done before your cancel/close your existing account.

My brother was with Vodafone for landline phone & broadband, the VoIP provider ported his old number over. Once ported he cancelled his Vodafone account.

Can I ask, are you an existing Imagine Broadband subscriber being disconnected from their wireless service? Some Imagine customers are being moved to fibre where available, others to 5G. I don't believe they were ever a satellite provider?

Haven't heard of any issues regarding delays on the VoIP line from them. Low earth orbit sats and Cork earth stations probably helps in that regard.

My SIL WFH for a multinational and requires good internet and phone line, almost 2 years down the road and no complaints about either service, Starlink and VoIP.
