Very expensive butter - could it have been inexpensive wine?

But then why did the phone contact notebook not have the phone number for the Apt in Sandymount in it?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,069 ✭✭✭mazdamiatamx5

People wouldn't necessarily have carried notebooks with phone numbers around with them. Some people did, others didn't. I remember my parents had one in the house but it's not as if they brought it around with them out of the house. I was 20 in 1993 and still living with parents, but frankly I wouldn't have had enough numbers to even bother getting a notebook and writing them down, I might have remembered a few in my head, that was it. The person who made this call to Annie's mum would have been a few years' older at that time, mid to late 20s I think? Thinking of friends/work colleagues of his age or similar, I don't know if they typically carried notebooks with numbers in their bags/handbags/wallets/suit or jeans pockets - some did, some didn't. People who were self-employed or running their own businesses would have I'd guess, for work reasons. People who were PAYE employees - not necessarily, some would, others wouldn't.

That must be Nigel with the brie...

I was messing about with some filters on my phone and you can just about make out the IMS at the end with either a P, R or B in front of it. Notice also that the word is longer than the ODLUMS below it. I would assume it would also be printed with FLOUR after it like the other one.

    #MEGA MAKE EUROPE GREAT AGAIN

I had a small pocket diary about the size of an iPhone that had a phone numbers section at the back - I kept all my contact numbers there but didn’t carry it around - I wasn’t self employed at the time - but if I was I would likely have had a Filofax or similar on the go - a few friends who were in the music industry at the time relied totally on their diaries for example - but close friends, I would have known their numbers by heart- still do to this day

That's more consistent with baking cakes for work colleagues. Alternatively, she already had food for dinner in apartment, the shop in the morning was just for dessert. Both plausible I think.

2.79 is very possibly bottle of wine?

There would have been CCTV footage of her in the AIB that morning. Why did they only release footage from a week earlier as part of the appeal to the public

Don't know, but where are you seeing that she definitely went to AIB on that morning? Even if she did or didn't, I'm not sure if it's significant. The Quinnsworth receipt shows she was alive and well and in Sandymount on that morning.

I wonder will the papers have any more info for us tomorrow. Apparently there were plenty of photographers waiting outside Irish town Garda station when he got released.

By all accounts the two brothers have had very comfortable lives. They both left condolences on RIP ie for a neighbour of their's on monastery walk who passed away a few years ago.

I wonder what the neighbours thought of them. Probably lots of local whispers, but probably lots who didn't want to think to much about it.

Were the two brothers involved in a car rental business? Think I read that one or both lived in the Sandymount area but can’t find the article.

All the reports say she was in the AIB shortly before 11 am.

What you state doesn't actually prove anything

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,069 ✭✭✭mazdamiatamx5

In 2025, the average housing estate in Dublin or anywhere in Ireland, could have a dozen people who would fit the description "millionaire business man" or woman, most if not all with no public profile whatever. Bear in mind, he most likely wasn't a millionaire businessman back in 1993. Millionaire or multi-millionaire businessmen or women who have a high public or media profile usually have such because that's what they choose to have, or because having such a profile is considered important or necessary in their business.

My understanding is that all the reports don't state she was in the AIB shortly before 11 am. The CCTV footage was from a week or more before.

I'd grant you that the Quinnsworth receipt doesn't prove anything, but it shows it is more likely than not that she:

    (1) visited Quinnsworth in the morning

    (2) bought those particular goods there.

    (3) returned to apartment with shopping and receipt

    (4) For some reason, either voluntarily or under duress, left the receipt and shopping in the apartment and left apartment to go out somewhere

Of course, it doesn't specifically prove that it was Annie that bought those goods at that time in Quinnsworth and then left them in her apartment. It seems the most likely and plausible scenario, however.

Annie supplied Cafe Java with confections - the ingredients were for that purpose

First mention of dinner couple in IT seems to be 8 October 1993. Six months later.

Every single report I've read states she was in the AIB that morning

"Shortly before 11am, she goes to the Allied Irish Bank on Sandymount Road, to do some personal banking. She's carrying her large brown leather satchel"

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 285 ✭✭NoeldeBournaix

My guess is they are both involved in the letting of high end properties

^ Ok so we have media reference to dinner guests in IT article from six months after disappearance.

But frustratingly, the reference to her buying ingredients for dinner with friends the DAY BEFORE her disappearance in the article may not be correct (or she may have gone to Quinnsworth both on the Thursday and the Friday)

The Quinnsworth receipt found in apartment was from 26/03/1993 (the Friday) the date is clearly visible.

One year on from the disappearance and the US lawyer (who was on Morning Ireland this week) suggests that there were “other avenues” that could be looked at. Not just Enniskerry.

Even if correct, I'm not sure if it gets us anywhere, as it is not in dispute that she was alive and well and in the general location of Sandymount on the morning of the Friday 26th March 1993 as far as we are aware….unless you have different info.

    14 February 1995

The bus number is now an 18 which ran from Sandymount to Palmerstown (via Ranelagh).
Must be an error in reporting? Or another incorrect sighting?

Interesting about the photographers. Possibly the media will out him soon enough?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,069 ✭✭✭mazdamiatamx5

Re the latest extract New Scottsman put up from the IT archives, the "paper of record" not looking too good, is it?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,094 ✭✭✭cap.in.hand.

No doubt, someone knowing her housemates would be going home to their family homes in the country for the weekend and she'd be alone in the apartment would make it easier for the persons intent ... whatever it was..

I doubt theyll be named unless charged. The photographers/tv crews just building footage to have in event of charges being filed and it going to court

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,069 ✭✭✭mazdamiatamx5

Not a bad piece…but of course, as usual with the media, they don't criticise their own. Especially when their own is the self-styled 'paper of record' (cough, splutter).

From the article: "In the cases of Ms Dullard and Ms Jacob, it is believed they were abducted and killed in sexually motivated opportunistic attacks, which are highly unusual."

So BG and LM. Even in the two cases where it's suspected it wasn't ex or then current boyfriend/partner, it wasn't a random psycho prowling the backroads and fields, it was separate individuals.

Some of us still have those notebooks 😊

"Ringing to show concern " or find out what they knew ?

She was only in the Sandymount apt a few mths. All her friends might not have her new no and if only for incoming calls, and with her working long hrs, they relied on her contacting them? Initially it was a missing person inquiry and perhaps the earlier bank photo was decent one to give a likeness. It also showed her rather distinctive leather shoulder bag.
