I think lack of success for nearly 30 years played a role. 1995 was my first AI success that I was able to attend. 2011 was the next one. The Cluxton winning free will be hard to beat to be fair but both of these stand out for me personally.

During the 6 in a row it was hard to get excited a lot of the time cause you kind of knew Dublin Would most likely do it, especially against Mayo in any final. I miss the rivalry we used to have with meath. I was at the 3 replay saga.

I definitely don't have fond memories of that last couple of mins of the three games saga , still haunts me only consolation Down won the final

I was very young for the saga. My dad used to bring me to loads of GAA matches but I think those games really got me into the sport.

If I remember correctly, meath had to play a load of games in a row all the way to the final?! I also remember our Irish teacher , who was a bollox, used to show the meath v down game in Irish.

I remember Eamon Heery called to our primary school during it. The DCB obviously decided to capitalise on the hype.

Info re carparks Newry - from a match Antrim played there.

The following car parks in Newry are available for patrons free of charge:

    • Newry Museum Car Park – Abbey Way Newry
    • Gateway Car Park Kilmorey Street.
    •  River Street Car Park.
    • Greenbank Industrial Estate.
    •  Buttercrane Shopping Centre (Produce your Match Programme/Match Ticket and you can avail of Free Parking)
    • The Quays Shopping Centre (Produce your Match Programme/Match Ticket and you can avail of Free Parking).

Down GAA will provide a Shuttle Bus continuous  from KFC in Bridge Street to Pairc Esler from 4.000pm on Saturday

Apparently according to the posters on the main GAA thread make sure to go early real time of journey (with traffic) over two hours. The Louth fans even got caught out on their trip to Newry. Which surprised me because in my head it is “next door”

I’ll be looking what’s best to get out of than what’s near. Took me an age to get out of a car park in Armagh. Even parked on the Dublin side of it but one of them car parks that had 3/4 car parks going into one exit. Took about 20/30 minutes to get out.

A poster who seemed in the know main thread. said always space in Tiernan Solicitor Newry. No bollards etc. Good bit away away from ground though plus up hill walk. Would be more for quick exit avoiding traffic.

The key seems to be park on west side of river. If go over bridge east beside stadium are bunched traffic wise.

Guff about stuff, and stuff about guff.

Found an auld geansai. The oldest original I have. At first I thought it was a 96 vintage. The one Whelo made his debut in. But no it was a 1998 one. The first with that “modern” Arnotts logo. Collie Moran made his debut then.

They should bring back that material. It showed the sweat. Easy to tell which players were not working hard enough!

The closer we get to this game, the more nervous I am. Derry due a win and are improving...

anybody know how flexible they are in pairc esler regarding a stand ticket and going to terrace?

Have a juvenile ticket for my son which was fine to meet up in Galway and croker but my season ticket is a stand and I didn’t realise his would automatically be terrace. I don’t mind going to terrace but wanted to see if I could just go in terrace entrance with him using a stand ticket.

Im looking forward to game; let’s see how they handle the pressure against a dangerous team.

P roberly depends on the size of the crowd whether you will be able to move a bit .I doubt it will be close to capacity, I don't expect large numbers from either travelling even for a likely knockout match .

Saw Jack Mc at the shels game last night. He’d be a great option on bench today!

How do people feel the weather will play a role? Not sure it affects us in that our decision making up front has been possibly our biggest issue. Suppose kick outs again vital , so maybe being first to breaking ball (prob alot of it) is inportant.

Heading up and not sure what to expect ,few weeks back I would have been fairly sure we would win but not so sure now .It would be a blow to go out tonight but if we lose three games we have no buiness being in the race anyway .Don't know how the weather will influence the game ,not sure if it is meant to have cleared up later or not .Team we have now seems the strongest we are likely to have as long as some lads can play and are up to speed .Could be a nervous evening hopefully not and we play to our best ,if we do we should make it .

That's a class shirt to have. Even as a Kerry man I have tried to get my hands on one of those. Well wear

    Leaving in a few mins.
Fully expect Con and Lee Gannon to start. And maybe Murchan.
Cut out them stupid wides that have been driving me mad for years and we will in the draw for next week.

Handy drive for me, got here well early so got a good seat in the stand although surrounded by derry fans!

Mot overly confident, let’s see which team shows up.

Think I heard Con is starting, hopefully he’s fully fit. Happy with that.

Decent start by Dublin..but then Small acts the idiot to hand Derry 2 points and at least three Dublin players drop the ball sloppily..

Pegged back after a blistering start

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,072 ✭✭✭Xander10

A lot of sloppy stuff. Need to get the initiative back asap

Two cheap frees by Dublin to give Derry the lead.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,871 ✭✭✭MFPM

McMahon should have given that off, he rarely scores!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,523 ✭✭✭munster87

I wouldn’t play Costello on a junior team. Cluxton has to take every free.

Didn’t love that ref but got it done.

Guy on the All Ireland discussion thread arguing he was favouring Dublin, clearly watching a different match..thought he was quite poor.
