Ninja Gaiden Ragebound demo is out and it's meant to be **chef's kiss**

Anyone else going to chance Mindseye tomorrow? I'm gonna pick it up, €60 in Smyths. Can't be that bad, but im worried about an overuse of AI. Them shall tell. Hopefully it's a Sleeping Dogs and not a APB.

While it’s impossible to know what the final product looks like here, every piece of news and promotional media about that game - not to mention the total lack of reviews - has strongly suggested that yes, it really can be that bad.

I was looking forward to it but honestly looks like a disaster, I'd wait a few months for updates and price drops.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,771 ✭✭✭✭Potential-Monke

I should have a half days work tomorrow, so I'll check around midday for any early reviews, but I can see me giving it a chance. Something different anyway. Think people are going to compare it to GTA, but I think it's gonna be GTA Lite. Gonna give the possible prestige of Benzies a chance. Could be a diamond in the rough... /optimism

There is no good reason to not at least wait for the reviews for a game that has more red flags than any other game in recent memory.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,657 ✭✭✭Mr Crispy

I think the GTA comparisons are well wide of the mark. For a start it's supposed to be a short, linear campaign.

Very risky purchase if you buy it digitally!

Let me know what you think..GTA needs some competition.

I've filed Minds Eye in the bucket that screams Avoid. I'd like to be proven wrong but everything about the game and the development points to it being a stinker.

The gaming definition of a red flag, possibly one of the riskiest games to buy digitally before reviews but let us know what you think. Man, we need a new sleeping dogs so bad, best of luck!

I'd never drop €60 on a new game digitally, even from a franchise i love. Thankfully, this has a physical release. I'll see how reviews are around 13.30 when I should be passing a Smyths. I just hope it's given a chance. We've had too many new franchises with great potential get destroyed by reviews which nearly guarantees no sequel, and how many franchises was the sequel the better one...

Mindseye seems to be aiming for some sort of relatively short and meaningless campaign, but all to set up user-generated content in its sandbox. No doubt based on the nature of GTA Online but with people creating and sharing their own content for it with each other.

But that only works if the base game itself is worth playing, and yeah, red flags ahoy. This could be this year's Concord, and the stuff coming out of the devs in terms of high-position people leaving and the studio head claiming people are being paid to be negative about the game... I wouldn't even be waiting for reviews, I'd be waiting for a month after release to see if the game would even be continuing.

Not going anywhere near Mindseye unless CEX are somehow offering more than 60 for the trade in.

Something has looked really off about it since the first reveal.

In an almost perverse way I really want to try MindsEye. Not sure if it's cos I want it to be really good or intrigued as to how bad it can be. But either way, I'll be waiting until it's in the inevitable 10quid bargain bin or on Plus/GP.

I started playing Bioshock Infinite last night. Doesn't give me the chills like the first two Bioshock games did.

The racist dog whistle in the second half of the game will.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,771 ✭✭✭✭Potential-Monke

Well I'm known for making bad decisions, so i picked it up. But of course I got extra work so will be this evening some time before I get to play it. Shall report back. Bit worrying that theres still very little online about it, aside from a few sites putting out articles throwing shade about not getting a review code and having to buy it like us plebs...

  • Moderators, Category Moderators, Computer Games Moderators Posts: 54,119 CMod ✭✭✭✭Retr0gamer

That's because it's usually a sign that the publisher knows it has a turd and wants to make as many sales as possible. On the other hand IO are new to publishing but I imagine they still could have sent some codes out for review. There's exceptions of course, Bethesda doesn't send codes out until launch day for any of its games.

Anyway, looking forward to the feedback on it.

Grounded 2 looks to be amazing. I absolutely loved Grounded(first one). Only thing it's early access and I'm not sure I want to play it a few times as obviously they will be adding new stuff all the time. I played the fully yoked version of Grounded so the finished game. Doesn't seem to get much love here. But Facebook,YouTube and reddit are awash with people who cannot wait for Grounded 2 as the first was that good.

Im not home yet, so won't know but I just read it's locked 30fps on PS5 Pro and often drops to single digits... this will make it unplayable for me. But allegedly theres a Day 2 patch coming which may sort it...

Bad start, kinda expected tbh, but how long did we give Cyberpunk before it was "fixed". Granted, CDPR had a few games behind them but if we can do it for 1, we have to allow it for others.

And tbh, I wouldn't blame devs not sending out codes anymore. Lots of sites crap all over games without giving them a chance, and sheeple are going to go with what their favourite one says. With all the franchises that never got a chance to make the sequel, which historically in gaming is the one that makes a franchise (in the last decade or 3 anyway), so i hope people give it a chance at least. We'll never get Forspoken 2, which could have been amazing, same with Immortals of Aveum. Hope this gets a chance at least, or is found out to be a scam, either way!

At least you aren't on Xbox. It's being reported the patch on Xbox is stuck on certification and won't be available for a few days

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,771 ✭✭✭✭Potential-Monke

Just read that, but also not the first time I've heard of a delay for Xbox patched due to certification. Im still hoping... we need another Sleeping Dogs!

It’s not reviewers fault when developers make a bad or mediocre game - it’s their job to be honest and critique the game in front of them. A game like Immortals gets middling reviews because it’s a middling game, not because of ‘sheeple’.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,343 ✭✭✭brady12

I want to play mindeye too but the signs are very discouraging 😅😂

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,771 ✭✭✭✭Potential-Monke

But it didn't just get middling reviews. It did from known sites, but its all about the streamers reviewing now, and they shat all over it and turned people off even trying. IoA was a technical joy to play. It had the prestige of amazing devs behind it, had a fantastic world built, loads of lore if you wanted it, and was mostly well acted. It looked and played really well, but because it wasn't x or y it was crap, allegedly. But the worst part is this "middling" game was killed off of any chance of making a sequel, which for some franchises is the one that made the franchise (AssCreed2 for example, Saints Row 2 being another). Each to their own and all that.

  • Moderators, Category Moderators, Computer Games Moderators Posts: 54,119 CMod ✭✭✭✭Retr0gamer

That's just the nature of the videogame market at the moment. Mediocre doesn't cut it. There's so many amazing games that if you don't somehow manage to standout from the crowd then nobody will be willing to spend their money on the game. And it's not even bad games suffering from this, plenty of incredible Indie games fail to get an audience and end up killing the dev. Apparently you need 500+ reviews on steam before the algorithm will start promoting your game.
