Donald Trump the Megathread part II - Mod Warning added to OP 10/1/26

People with options don't want to do crap, backbreaking work at terrible hours for misers who'll pay minimum wage. I grew up on a farm and emigrated as soon as I could find work.

Notice the language used. It's not "What have I done to America?" or "What will the world think?". It's lamenting that he himself is now out of pocket. If that wasn't the case, he'd still be full blown MAGA even if it was the farm next door suffering.

These people deserve everything they get and then some and I live in post-Brexit Britain.

Most of the maga crowd is a combination of ignorance and bigotry, so I hope they all get their just deserts. The more hardship for them, the better, to be honest.

Not much different from Germany in the 1930s I would think.

So does the US. It also is an empire. It's just disguised by the fact that most of it is one contiguous landmass but be under no false impressions, it is absolutely an empire.

Let's do a checklist:

• Single leader as an object for adoration and devotion? Check - Trump
• Enemy without? Check - EU, China, UN, WHO, etc
• Enemy within? Check - Socialists, the left, "woke", liberals, "the elite", anti-Trumpers, BLM, Trans people, Muslims, etc…
• Legions of devoted followers lyal to the aforementioned leader? Check
• Promise to restore the country's former glory? Check - Literally MAGA
• Emphasis on racial purity of the nation? Check - Literal comments about "Poisoning the blood of our nation"
• Crusade against free speech? Check - Deportation of dissenting students and open aspiration to go much further
• Worship of force? Check - Police & Army - They are having a parade for dear leader's birthday as I recall
• Empty promises to help the little guy - Check, "MAGA"
• Demonisation of education? - Check - See attacks on Universities
• Hatred of Institutions? Check - Attacks on courts, CDC, etc…

I could probably go on but I think the point is clear.

You'd think this would be the perfect time for them to exercise their precious second amendment rights against a tyrannical government.

I wouldn't call it a territorial empire in the same guise as Britain and France in the early 20th century for the simple reason that their power was based on controlling the global oil trade to the point that even their cold war rival needed to use USD to sell oil to fund their own empire!

I haven't seen much comment about it here but the rapid appreciation of the Taiwanese Dollar a month ago was entirely based on a massive sale of chips to China without using the USD.

The type of drones attacks we've seen this week also highlights the vulnerability of the all of the US military bases around the world. The US empire is its currency, but it's a castle built on sand as more trade is conducted in other currencies.

I would. The British and French empires were just land grabs. The Americans, by contrast, brought things with them such as Common Law and their own culture and ethos. Of course, they were also quite thorough in evicting the locals whereas the British and French only rarely had this as a viable option.

The same of course could be said of Russia.

There's a German produced TV series "Abyss, Rise & Fall of the Nazis" along with the recent BBC series "Nazis, a warning from history" that should be required viewing for MAGA heads who think Demagogues and Fascism are the answer to any of their issues.

I would usually recommend books but those are anathema to the masses of red hats.

Anyway, those 2 series a thought occured. Where would a yank watch them? Most likely PBS and...

PBS are part of the "enemy" there now. The rise of anti-intellectualism in the US has reached a crescendo. Universities, Experts & the educated are now clearly labelled as part of the "Problem" along with accurate media, factual reporting and activist Law firms.
