Suppose Trump can blame Biden for any 'bit storm' considering he's a robot

No warning,no emergency service, no one to repair the damage? Is this what has happened?

The Maga crowd will not wake up until it impacts them directly, so let's say when this Hurricane season ploughs into Florida and the immigrants who work in construction are no where to be found and people are waiting 6 months to have their properties fixed for twice the price, they might wake up

My sympathies for these people is nonexistent. This is EXACTLY what was going to happen.

The short answer is "it's complicated".

I don't believe California can arbitrarily choose to stop federal tax collection, and the Feds are limited on what pauses they can make on payments to California, at least without an act of Congress to support it. The rule is basically that the Federal Government can only withhold payments to enforce related actions. For example, road repair subsidies could be tied to the state enacting a maximum speed limit (the old federal 55mph), but the federal government cannot, for example, withhold forestry funds if California does not criminalize marijuana to match federal law. It would have to be a forest/park/wildlife related demand.

It's probably for the best. California's budget is over a third reliant upon federal funding, and the US takes a lot of tax from California. If it were possible to do such withholdings, neither side would come out well.

Agreed. The taxes are collected separately, you pay your federal tax to the IRS and state and local to the local authorities.

Not sure any state collects Federal tax - why should the Feds trust the states to do that correctly, and it implies audits etc ('Fed calculated Ca owed $242343 but only received $1010101, investigation to follow!')

Trump has declared the insurrection act and is deploying the Californian National guard against protesters.

Note the way he did *not* declare that on Jan 6 to deal with the insurrectionists...

Trump has now full control of the Guard where normally the state's Governor is in charge. Also putting Marines on high alert. This is going to be some shite show and likely to end very badly.

Its only going to escalate. Protesters will protest against the national guard. Someone will get killed, riots will escalate and then the army will be deployed

Gavin Newsom will order the national guard to stand down. They will have a choice, to obey Trumps orders, or disobey them....

The 'off with their heads' part is closer than trump and his gang realise.

Tanks rolled into Washington for the little boy's birthday party next week. I'm sure all the maga clowns that delight in calling liberals commies every 5 minutes will be strangely quiet when the North Korean style military parade is in full swing.
