    Neighbour sold a 750kg bullock in the Mart two weeks ago & got €3100 for him. It looked a very good price as he was only 20 months old. But a lad I know bought him and killed him 2 days later, He came into just over €3,240.. he had 15 in total out of the Mart that he killed on the Thursday and had similar money on each of them.

    He has started doing this every week, for the last 6 months or so, he puts together 15-20 cattle over a week ( he goes to about 4 marts around over the week) and then sees which one of the 4 factories around will give him the best price once he has a load ready.... He said he usual picks up €100 plus after expenses on each of them.. its usually made up of 75% fr, then a few AA, Hex & Sims. Maybe the odd BB but he said they can catch you out lacking far cover when killed.

    Yeah fat cover is the lastest gimmick. I had a load of winter finished cattle that I used to stand in between them when feeding in their troughs and I felt fat but most came back as 2s. They were no way 2s I had an o micfully fight with the agent. I pulled cover off their ribs. Some shower. Their balls were dropped also. Now I'm along time killing cattle not long winter finishing but still. I go for cover over grades.

    That game your friend is playing is a pure gamble. I know of two 'wise' men who lost four farms between them. It takes alot to click, repect around the ring which actually never happens.

    Myself and the young ladcwere watching Gortalea last night. Finished continentals are 100-250 behind factory price. They have collapsed over a week. Same in Sixmilebride today.

    No way would I carry a friesian anywhere but to the factory. Sh!tload of cattle not making factory money at present
