Great to get that win yesterday. Not a super performance at all but the main thing is to get that win. It felt like we were still hungover from the Limerick loss and took a bit to get going. I really thought Waterford played well and did the best they could with what they have. They seemed to have a few fellas that looked overweight to me so that was strange to see. It looked like they have a great core of about 10 players and those really played well though.

We got going and when we pulled ahead to about 7 points it looked game over. But then we had numerous bad wides and it allowed them back in. Our scoring efficiency has to improve for the next day as it was poor against Limerick the last day too. Brian Hayes was well marshalled by Prunty but still got 1-1 and set up the other goal. It shows how good he is. There were a few fellas who were not playing badly but just a bit quiet. Tim O'Mahony was one but his hounding helped get us that goal after half time.

As I posted before the match, I hoped to see Healy and Lehane get on. Healy did very well in his cameo and it was fantastic to see Lehane get that point at the end. Super flick up and point. I heard that he is red hot in training and it was great to see him back after last years game against Waterford where he missed so many chances. He was hardly involved since although he was injured too. Kingston did well also and it shows that the subs are always needed in todays game.

2 weeks now to see how the injuries heal up and prepare for Limerick. We need to improve our scoring effieciency though. I trust the attitude and tackling will be a blt better this time!

    In other bits of news..

    1. There is going to be no public sale of tickets for the Munster Final.
    2. Erika O’Shea won't be avaiable for the Ladies Footballers in the Championship as she is going back to Australia. Big loss.
    3. In the Celtic Challenge U17 Hurling, Cork White beat Limerick in what sounds like a crazy game. 6-23 to 5-13. They are now in the final of the A competition.

The footballers are up next against Kerry this weekend. That defeat against Meath has really put us on the back foot now. We quite simply have no choice but to win, or else the Roscommon game will be a dead rubber.

I'm sorry for being blunt here but if some people on here are upset about refereeing decisions on Sunday, all i can is Waterford had four games to get out of the group stage.

In fact they never have gotten out of Munster since the round robin format was introduced from 2018 onwards. They got to an all Ireland final and semi final in 2020 and 2021 respectively but Munster was instant knockout in those years due to covid.

So really to blame all of Waterford's inadequacies in dealing with the round robin format on the referee on Sunday really is a cop out imo.

Exactly, they can blame no one but themselves, they aren't good enough, never have been since 2018. They have had chances to get out of munster and failed.. Need to focus on why they aren't good enough and stop whinging bout Corks so called cynical play and blaming refs.

Do 3 teams not come out of each group I thought?

They do but if we are joint 2 points with Meath, we’ll lose out on the head to head.

It’s very likely we need 3 or 4 points to get out of the group now.

I think Meath will beat Roscommon.

So a win v Roscommon will see us through on 2 points.

I don't think anyone on the Waterford thread is blaming it on the ref. We don't have enough scoring forwards

Oh the person i was referring to wasn't even from Waterford anyway!

A handful of headbangers were saying it only. Outside of the forwards issue, the puck-out strategy and the sweeper with such a strong wind in the first half had me baffled. So tactics and forwards I think. Also, could Gleeson maybe have offered more if he'd come on sooner? We'll never know.

Gleeson has had no game time. The year out did him no favours and his body kept breaking down with injuries. A short cameo catching a few high balls was about as much as we could hope for
