PA180, it's purposefully like that because it only turns right

When will the new EW252's be delivered to Harristown?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 122 ✭✭AX636

Maybe because it's just not one driver driving that bus, I don't know

L14 extended to cherrywood from Sunday 15th June.

Won't be going into the business park but will instead terminate in the new housing developments

L14 will extend to the heart of Cherrywood from June 15th - good to see that they’re putting it up Bishop Street and Castle Street in Cherrywood (connecting with LUAS at Cherrywood Stop).

Route map and timetable at the link below:

Also on the same date, most trips in both directions on the 40e will route directly via Broombridge Road and Ballyboggan Road (exceptions are to cover schools traffic).

Does that 40e page still exist?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 18,790 ✭✭✭✭LXFlyer

They seem to have taken it down but the revised timetable is on the timetable page.

Thanks. Pity the school run overlaps with main commute time for most people, but good to see. It can take forever to get through Ventry Park sometimes.

Great to see that it's being extended to serve the new developments, I was fully expecting them to simply slap it's terminus at Brides Glen and call it a day. You'll still be able to interchange with the Luas at the Cherrywood stop, which will also allow for a handy connection for those living in the new developments!

It’s brilliant as it’ll serve as a local connector for Cherrywood proper and as the LUAS connection from points south - it could start an hour earlier from Bray though to link in with early trams

What do u mean 40E page exists

    from DB website

They were asking about the news page about the change that I linked to above which has since been removed.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,259 ✭✭✭Daith

    Exactly.

The 40e also seems to run two services at 7am but only one ever appears on the TFI app. Just reminded me to email Dublin Bus about it.

It's great they do run two 7am ish services from Tyrellstown because otherwise that bus would be full by the time it enters Finglas

The second is presumably an approved ad hoc auxiliary added to “clear the road”.

Without being scheduled with a full timetable and duty to link to it won’t appear on RTPI.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,259 ✭✭✭Daith

That's a pain so. It's the earlier of the two but it's the one that doesn't appear.

I'm not sure if it could be called ad-hoc when it run it has run every weekday for about two years now!

Sidenote, interesting that the (public facing) timetable isn't changing. Presume it's the case that given the current running times allow for 30-40 minutes layovers for most of the day, even with the extra running time for the extension there's still time to spare. Will probably also be a case of an extra bus or two allocated to allow for driver breaks.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 18,790 ✭✭✭✭LXFlyer

It won’t need additional buses/drivers if they are simply using the existing 35 mins layover time at each end that has been happening to facilitate the extension. The drivers are deemed to be working during that time as it is!

It wouldn’t impact on breaks either - it’s simply getting the drivers to be driving for far more of their working time than sitting doing nothing at the terminus.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 18,790 ✭✭✭✭LXFlyer

Well they would need to officially timetable it for it to appear on RTPI.

Hence my wording as it’s not currently officially scheduled.

The news story with some rewording to reflect the school trips is now back up.

Another thought on the L14, I wonder what the terminus arrangement will be in Cherrywood. Was up there last month and there wasn't any obvious place for a bus to easily turn around, unless they've added a temporary turnaround arrangement? I know the long-term plan is to have a terminus location that links to the Carrickmines Luas Stop but I don't think they've done any construction past Castle Street yet.

It appears that the 19, E1 and E2 no longer stop at the N2 stop on St Mobhi Road.

It would have made far more sense to remove the previous stop at The Rise which is only 130m away.

Would there be scope to maybe extend the L22 from Brides Glen Luas Stop up to Bishop Street & Castle Street in Cherrywood in later phases of BusConnects? I'd imagine that a lot of people who would be living in these new housing developments in Cherrywood would actually prefer to have a bus route that goes to Dun Laoghaire as well as having a bus that goes to the outskirts of Bray.

Given that's what they did with the L14, I wouldn't be surprised if that's what they do with the L22 when t eventually launches.

In fairness the L14 does serve Bray town centre and seafront, not just the outskirts.

    TFI announcement of L14 change:

    https://www.transportforireland.ie/news/nta-and-dublin-bus-announce-extension-of-route-l14-to-cherrywood-green-luas-line/

NTA and Dublin Bus announce extension of Route L14 to Cherrywood & Green Luas Line

    30th May 2025

The National Transport Authority (NTA), in partnership with Dublin Bus, are extending Route L14 to Cherrywood via Shankill. The extended service will begin operation on Sunday, 15th June.

Bus Route L14 connecting Southern Cross, Bray, Palermo, Shankhill, Loughlinstown, Laughanstown and Cherrywood, incl Green Luas Line

This significant enhancement nearly doubles the coverage area of Route L14, providing more convenient and accessible public transport options for passengers and communities across South Dublin.

The extension aims to improve connectivity between Southern Cross, Bray, Palermo, Shankhill, Loughlinstown and Cherrywood while also offering a key transport link with the Green Line Luas in Cherrywood.

The enhancement also delivers a bus service for residents in the area of Laughanstown. It supports the area’s rapid growth and the ongoing development of new homes, ensuring convenient and reliable transportation for the community.

Phase 6A of BusConnects enhances connectivity in the region

Originally introduced as part of Phase 6A of BusConnects, which was launched in January this year, the extended service builds on its current success by further enhancing connectivity in the region and improving its integration with Dublin’s wider public transport network.

35 return services Monday to Friday, 32 on Saturdays, 30 on Sundays

The route will continue to operate every half an hour seven days a week, offering 35 return services Monday to Friday. The service will also continue to operate 32 return services on Saturdays, with 30 return services on Sundays and public holidays, ensuring enhanced transport connections for both weekdays and weekends.

In addition to the new connection to Cherrywood Luas stop, Route L14 will continue to serve to Bray Train Station.  Passengers will also continue to benefit from convenient interchange options with the 24-hour E1 as well as other local services.

Route L14 extension in response to valuable customer feedback

Jeremy Ryan, Director of Public Transport Services at the National Transport Authority, said“Building on the success of the initial launch of the L14 under Phase 6A of BusConnects in January, we’ve taken on board valuable customer feedback highlighting the need for stronger onward connectivity.
In response, we’re pleased to announce that Route L14 will now extend to serve Cherrywood, Shankill, and connect with the Luas Green Line – making the serviced more accessible and convenient for our passengers”
