One thing that is really noticeable to me in the photos from Gaza is the look of despair on the faces of the Palestinian people- they know they are trapped & it seems no one is coming to help them.

How are these men & women able to show the world that they are civilians not soldiers- there is something wrong with our society that this is allowed to continue.

Looks like the Houthis air blockade warning has been heeded by international airlines to go along with the bankruptcy of Eilat port and all shipping to Israel now going via Africa instead of the Red sea.

British Airways – flights cancelled until July 31

Transavia – flights cancelled until June 24, inclusive.

United Airlines – flights cancelled until June 13, inclusive.

LOT Polish Airlines – flights cancelled until May 26.

Lufthansa Group – which includes Lufthansa, Swiss, Austrian Airlines, Alitalia, Brussels Airlines, and Eurowings – cancels flights until June 8.

Iberia Express – flights cancelled until June 1

EasyJet – extends its suspension of flights to and from Tel Aviv until June 30.

Air India – flights cancelled until June 19.

Air Baltic – Flights cancelled until June 2.

Air Seychelles – Flights cancelled until July 31.Air France – Flights cancelled until May 26, inclusive.

Air Canada – Flights cancelled until September 8.

Ryanair – Flights cancelled until June 11.

Now they are starting a blockade on Haifa port

"if you get on the wrong train, get off at the nearest station, the longer it takes you to get off, the more expensive the return trip will be."

With each passing day the sick regime in israel just sink to greater depths of depravity.

We've been warning since this all started that the end goal was ethnic cleansing with the goal of land seizures.

The Occupied Territories Bill should be fast-tracked through the Dail and passed at the earliest possible opportunity.

Ireland should be taking the lead in taking action against this genocide. Inaction is complicity.

The strange thing about all this is Yitzshak Shamir's comments about Bibi almost seem prophetic now. He said Bibi would destroy Likud and was a threat to the Israeli state. As you outline Senior Israeli Officials past and present are now echoing what he said

Yitzshak and Bibi both hated each other but what united them was their opposition to a two state solution. They both, as we have seen over the years, were prepared to do anything to stop that from happening .

The entire political system over there seems to be riddled with the most disgusting people.

Yeah it really does. The reputation of Israel has been damaged for decades. I have a feeling Netanyahu might lose power sooner than he thinks.

What are they doing in the Hyacinth House?

A sick and depraved society built on supremacy does that

Israel will tell you that they only target Hamas terrorists

I'm sure someone will be along any minute now to explain which ones of these children were terrorists

That is awful. That woman had an entire family, and now her husband is badly injured and nine of her children are dead.

Both doctors. Both trying to help people. While they sit in Ireland sipping on their tea justifying these types of killings online, she is there trying to help save babies' lives.

Daily dose of r/israel's madness. It's fun watching support of Israel descending into conspiratorial rantings about the MSM, the UN, the EU, other Jews. Literally anyone who has a problem with the actions of Israel.

As ever, those posts expressing outrage when Israelis are killed are mysteriously absent when Palestinian children are shredded.

I was absolutely outraged at Hamas murdering all those Israelis on Oct 7th and equally outraged at the IDF murdering Israelis too. That Israeli children and babies were killed that day is abhorrent.

Would any Israeli supporters care to comment on these latest murders of innocent children?

It certainly seems Golan was right - Israel is killing babies as a hobby.

This is a prime example of the false argument used on here that Israel is under "existential threat".

The person in that video is verbalising exactly what Israel is actually doing and is being reported on in real time - exterminating children.

Posts here frequently argue that the Palestinians want to wipe Israel off the map. Where is the proof that they are actually doing it or that they have the means to do it? It has never been posted here - because it doesn't exist.

The corollary of Israel exterminating Palestinians is as plain to see as the nose on your face.

So while our tables are increasingly empty because our food prices continue to rise, Hamas is enjoying free meals

That's like Nazis complaining that Jews in concentration camps are eating food, so they protest against Hitler for supplying food.

For a long time I dreamed of joining the Mev. I wanted to protect my people. But now I find myself asking: Why? While I respect our military, and respect our fighters, it's hard... so hard to respect those who beat and silence Jews for doing what's right. For standing up for what truly protects our people.

    It's completely and utterly obscene.

To all supporters of Israel who constantly state that the war will only end on the release of all the hostages, here is what you support:

"Channel 12 News reported that Maj. Gen. David Zini – chosen by PM Netanyahu to head the Shin Bet security service instead of Ronen Bar, whose dismissal the Supreme Court ruled was unlawful – told the IDF General Staff in private meetings, "I'm against hostage deals. This is a forever war."

During internal IDF discussions throughout the war, Zini has taken a hardline stance on military operations, repeatedly clashing with other General Staff members over hostage negotiations, and insisting that defeating Hamas must take precedence"

If Israel is found guilty of genocide and crimes against humanity. Will they be liable to pay compensation to the loved ones of the innocent civilians killed, injured, traumatised etc?

Germany is still paying over a billion dollars a year to the quarter of a million holocaust survivors still alive. The majority of whom were children during the war.
Could the Israeli state be forced to pay reparations for years to come to hundreds of thousands of Gazans? Could this compensation help to rehabilitate the country’s reputation once the attacks on Gaza end?

Could we have a Vote on this? Would the government be too scared it might pass?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,562 ✭✭✭RoyalCelt

Force by who? The Israeli's are the money men in the western world and have huge influence throughout the monetary systems and the corporate West.

And most major military players on this planet don't recognise those courts. Don't get your hopes up.

The ICJ can direct that reparations are paid by the perpetrator.

Did you not read the article - only 9 of the 10 kids were terrorists. The other one was a pacifist.

Sxummy IDF and Israeli government. Something has to be done about them. This is going to be a slaughter of innocents.

And if the Israelis (backed by the US of course) Tell the ICJ to eff off ? We’re seeing in the US how much Court orders are worth when there is no way of enforcing them. Plus, when is the ICJ going to rule on the case ? and will there be any Palestinians left in Gaza at that stage ? It’s all horrific and outrageous in equal measure. When is the world ( by which I mean Government) goingo stand up and say “Enough. This stops now, or we sanction your ass to kingdom come.”

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,177 ✭✭✭dmcdona

Of course Israel will not comply. They failed to comply with the provisional measures the ICJ demanded of them twice already.

They have also failed to comply with the ICJ ruling last year that they withdraw from all illegally occupied territories and pay reparations to the Palestinians.

If the ICJ rule that Israel has committed Genocide, Israel will not care about any reparations. They will only care about the damage to their reputation - which of course they will vehemently deny. Witch hunt, politically motivated, blood libel, antisemitic etc. ad nauseum.

When Israelis boot out their genocidal leaders, perhaps there will a change in tone and perhaps apologies and reparations will follow.

Indeed and there's a lad on here who keeps saying that the IDF only target Hamas. He doesn't really believe that though.

Here is a very good follow-up report from Tony Connolly (RTE) on what exactly happened in the EU vote.

It politics so a pretty dry subject for most. But the insights into who voted for/against and why is fascinating (in my opinion). Also, why Spain/ireland pressure failed last year.

What is more interesting is what will happen next. The report delves into that too.

Not everyone's cup of tea but if you want to be informed on political machinations both now and in the future, essential reading.

Bernie Sanders (a Jew) is in Ireland. Interesting article - he clearly states that criticising the Israeli Govt. is not antisemitism.

"US Senator Bernie Sanders has said there are more people in the US outraged by what is happening in Gaza than the rest of the world understands."

There was a post here stating that contraception is essential humanitarian aid and Palestinians in Gaza shouldn't be having children.

If the mother had taken contraception, she wouldn't be mourning her 9 dead children. So, completely her fault - right?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,326 ✭✭✭Bishop of hope

Anything for an argument with your posts isn't it!

Can't talk for anyone else, but my part of that debate was that all aid is essential and Gazans are entitled to it. Try telling Gazan mothers already nursing hungry malnourished children that it doesn't matter whether they get pregnant again or not as long as they're kept fed. A bit more compassion from the faux compassionate would go a long way instead of the constant sniping about how perfect you're view is as compared to others.

What happened to that family was horrendous and unthinkabley sad Obviously, and the fact that Israel is allowed use the tactics they are using seemingly without impunity will haunt the rest of the world politic for a long time I'd say.

But someone using that incident for a cheap shot at someone because of a mention of contraception is pitiful and barrel scraping. Have a happy Sunday.

In my opinion the cheap shot was the argument that contraception as essential humanitarian aid was a crass and disgusting deflection from the core issue - Israel is starving Gazans to death. They need food and water or they will continue to die.

I highlighted the most recent abhorrent incident to prove the point.

It's telling that you felt the need to call it a cheap shot.
