If your last sentence is serious, this could be one of the crassest posts in this thread.

But please do elucidate if I've misunderstood your point.

It is imperative that the country we know as Israel is dissolved within the next decade and a new country created which incorporates the lands of current Israel and the Palestinian territories. A new country where every citizen is afforded the same rights before the law whether they be Jew, Palestinian or other. Israel has shown that a two state solution won't work. Their actions in Gaza confirm why. It is an entity riddled with a pathalogical hatred for Palestinians who just happen to be the native people of the land.

If any good can come from the horror the Jewish state is inflicting on Gaza it is that the same state has begun sowing the seeds for it's very implosion. To all those crackpots supporting Israel crack on. The future will show you to have been on the wrong side of history.

This is a good summary from the Beeb on uk events today.

Notably, read to the end to see a comment on Smotrich from the President of the World Jewish Congress - and the response is priceless (not in a good way).

It is absolutely mental that Germany is going down on the wrong side of history twice. So much for historical guilt if they stand by and support a genocide 80 years later.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,249 ✭✭✭sock.rocker*

Yeah, Israelis are generally more ashamed of their country's messaging and their politicians being too open with what they're doing. They want this to continue but without the government being explicit with its plans.

They're 90% of the way there. I don't think there is any chance of them stopping. Their pariah status is practically guaranteed now, so what's a million deaths and a million displaced on top of that. Their population feels they will be hated and vilified regardless, believing their government's messaging the world is antisemitic and only cares about Palestine because it is Jews perpetrating it.

Like does anyone know anything about the sides of the Rwandan genocide?

"You only care about the genocide of the Tulsi because you hate the Hutus."

The claim that people can only care about one side if they hate the other is so stupid that they must know it's a complete lie. The same people who are disgusted by Gaza are disgusted by the Holocaust.

It's a pity it took world powers until now to do something, when it seems to be too late. Israel went out of its way to explain that they would let a drip of aid in, but not for humanitarian reasons. They knew the backlash that would create but had to keep Israelis happy.

What are you an advocate from the catholic church? Women deserve access to contraception no matter where on the planet you are. It should be included in any aid package.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,249 ✭✭✭sock.rocker*

Do you believe they should be included for practical reasons or diplomatic reasons, or would you go beyond Israel's motivations and say humanitarian reasons?

I assume you would choose practical so there are fewer trucks full of baby food stopped at the borders for months. It is an awful look after all while babies die. Or maybe that falls into diplomatic if other countries start to take issue with it and stop trade negotiations.

All Gazans deserve access to sufficient food, water and secure shelter. They haven't had that for 20 months. All aid has been blocked for 11 weeks.

Perhaps you believe Israel should send in contraceptives so they can avoid being labelled as baby killers as they continue their Genocide?

    https://www.theguardian.com/world/2025/may/20/israel-still-blocking-aid-for-gaza-despite-promise-to-lift-siege-says-un

Yair Golan, the leader of the opposition Democrats who served as deputy chief of staff for Israel’s military before entering politics, said that after an unjustifiably brutal campaign, much of the damage had already been done.

Netanyahu’s government was making the country as isolated as apartheid-era South Africa, he told Reshet Bet radio.

“A sane country doesn’t engage in fighting against civilians, doesn’t kill babies as a hobby and doesn’t set the expulsion of a population as a goal,” he said.

Netanyahu attacked Golan’s comments as “contemptible antisemitic blood libels against IDF soldiers and the state of Israel”, but Golan later doubled down on his position in a press conference.

So he's accusing this guy of being an antisemite.

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yair_Golan#Military_service

On 7 October 2023, the day of the October 7 Hamas-led attack on Israel, Golan arrived as a civilian to the headquarters of the southern district of the Home Front Command, and asked its commander, Rafi Milo, to "re-enlist". He received a weapon and arrived in his private vehicle to the Gaza envelope, and rescued many survivors who were trapped in the area of the massacre at the Nature Festival near Re'im, using their phone locations. One of the people he rescued was the son of Haaretz journalist Nir Gontarz.

He described what he saw as very difficult scenes and claimed that the battle of that day was the worst defeat of the State of Israel ever.

They deserve all aid, everything that can improve their health and wellbeing. I can't believe anyone can argue and make a point about contraception being somehow something that needn't be included. Christ on a bike, some of the **** argued on this thread would make you wonder if Walsh b didn't have a point yesterday!

That would be the case if that's what I said about contraceptives. Misrepresentation is not conducive to a reasonable discussion.

And if you read my post carefully I gave the poster the opportunity to clarify in case I misunderstood the post.

    The faux outrage is tiresome.

In what way does walshb have a point in saying this? Do you really support this kind of stuff?

"There’s a lot people content enough to see food aid blocked by Israel. It means they can bash Israel longer, while pretending from 1000s a miles away that they’re outraged and horrified!"

Womens rights aren't a strong point in Gaza at the best of times.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,375 ✭✭✭Billy Mays

This is where we're at now with Netanyahu

A guy who served for 39 years in the IDF and whose father survived the holocaust is an anti-semite

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,177 ✭✭✭dmcdona

The Israeli human rights record is a lot worse.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,562 ✭✭✭RoyalCelt

Nothing to do with needing less aid. There's no shortage of billions the West or the rich arab states are willing to throw at Gaza. It's a basic human right where women can avoid pregnancy when they don't want it.

Many African countries don't have a food crisis they have a population crisis.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,562 ✭✭✭RoyalCelt

I've never looked into Gaza specifically but I'm assuming Muslims aren't prevented contraception by their book or is it as bad as the bible/Christianity in this regard?

So Jordan can send babies back into a brutal warzone with a threat of famine but we can't send military aged men back to Ukraine?

Why not offer the mothers of these babies refuge too? If the mothers suffer from famine will their bodies even produce milk?

"We're back to living in fear and hunger, surrounded by death," Nihaya says as her eyes fill up with tears. "How can I get this child the milk that he needs to drink? He doesn't eat even though he's just over a year old, because if he eats, he will immediately get sick."

The article also describes the classy behaviour of the Israeli border guard's who robbed the mother as she returned to Gaza with her baby. A double whammy.

    Perhaps you've misunderstood my post.

That contraceptives are an essential part of humanitarian aid for Gaza right now is total deflection.

No-one has the right to dictate a woman's right bear or not bear a child. Contraception is optional. In normal circumstances, when not being Genocided, I'd completely agree that contraceptives, along with other medicines should be a part of humanitarian aid to those who want it.

But given that basic aid - food and water and essential medicines - is not entering Gaza, to even mention contraception is ridiculous and frankly crass.

But if the post was suggesting that women should not bear children simply to avoid those babies being starved to death by an aggressor intent on wiping out a population, then that post is a disgrace. Women have a fundamental right to bear a child. That child has the fundamental right to live.

Further, if Gazan women not having babies somehow assuages the guilt of those supporting the Israeli at the death toll of babies, why not go one step further and just sterilise all Gazan women? Or why not simply go to the final perfect solution and just murder them all? Currently, as many as 140,000 women and children have been murdered by Israel so there is form in that regard.

Essential aid is what is needed right now to avert at least some of the impending deaths from starvation. Contraception is not essential.

In the article, Jordan states its position clearly.

Their policy is to keep Palestinians on their land and not contribute to their displacement (or ethnic cleansing) from Gaza. Hence returning Gazans after they have received medical treatment.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,562 ✭✭✭RoyalCelt

A weak excuse. If Israel wanted they would have prevented these mothers and babies returning to Israel.

You're aware of the issues Palestinians have caused in Jordan right? That's the real reason why they won't take them.

It'd be like sending Ukrainians back to frontline cities like Povtrosk and Toretsk or Bakhmut 2 year's ago.

The basic concept of any war. Save the women and the children. They are your future.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,177 ✭✭✭dmcdona

Israel would certainly not allow them into Israel…

They were returning to Gaza, their homeland.

Jordanian politics is irrelevant. Gaza is the homeland of Palestinians. They have every right to be there. Jordan supports that.

If you believe Jordan should have kept them in Jordan, that is tacit support for Genocide and Ethnic Cleansing. Jordan does not support that, quite rightly so.

It's nothing like Ukraine - that's just whataboutery.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,593 ✭✭✭✭Cluedo Monopoly

Jordan has well over 2 million Palestinians and some estimate 3 million. They have massive refugee camps for Palestinians. They have done well to sustain that influx.

What are they doing in the Hyacinth House?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,562 ✭✭✭RoyalCelt

By your logic we're ethnically cleansing Ukraine by taking their refugees. Your response to my point is they have a right to be there which they most certainly do. Even the Israelis let the mother's and children back into Gaza from Jordan.

They also under basic humanitarian laws have the right to leave which countries like Egypt are preventing. You're logic here is about the level I'd expect from a HAMAS spokesperson.

So a small amount of aid has been allowed in, mainly baby food. However in the ever increasing dirty war on children it has not been allowed to be distributed to the areas where it is needed most and is in fact still on lorries or pallets.

How actually low can Israel go?

    https://www.timesofisrael.com/outrage-as-opposition-party-leader-golan-says-israel-killing-babies-as-a-hobby-in-gaza/

Opposition leader Yair Golan says Israel is killing babies as a hobby and is going to become a pariah state because of it. Saying this is antisemitic now according to their government. Seems like the Israelis are now antisemites (as if livestreaming a **** holocaust of ACTUAL SEMITES wasn't antisemitic enough). This project which is a **** stain on humanity is falling apart.

Can we please change this thread title to reflect the actual situation. Western governments are now starting to realise, **** we might actually be complicit in this. Israel had told us they wanted to commit a genocide, then they went ahead and actually committed a genocide. And then we're lead to believe that they supposedly won the Eurovision popular public vote in both Ireland and Spain. What a **** joke!

"The basic concept of any war. Save the women and the children. They are your future."

The basic concept of any conflict is not to target the women and children as to do so will nullify their future. Take a guess as to what Israel has being doing these last 18 months, facilitated by those who now have their stomachs churned a bit.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 22,574 ✭✭✭✭2smiggy

Their own opposition political leader said they are 'killing babies as a hobby' !!!

Yet you have the anonymous internet hardmen of boards.ie defending it. Vile creatures

Does that question even need to be asked about these scumbags anymore? Israel is the lowest of the low, a stain on humanity now just like their oppressors before them.
