Stage 2 and 3 should look amazing. Those west coast roads are deserving of a proper Spring classic.

Brilliant, I will be out in Arvagh for Stage 1. Looking forward to it

I'll hope to head out to Wolftrap on stage 4. Unwittingly cycled up it myself a couple of years ago. I didn't snag any KOMs…

And after the RAS you will be lucky to see the top 100 unless being pulled up by a motorbike

Are they not technically cycling up the kinnity side so there's a different name for that climb? It's a much steadier climb. Just wondering

We were around the complete route again at the weekend.

A testing route but something for everyone

I don't know tbh… I also cycled up from the Kinnity side, but just recall spotting the mountain when I looked at my routemap afterwards. I was on a short A-B journey and wanted to take in the Slieve Blooms, so it wasn't one of those spins where you seek out all the best climbs kind of thing.

It was a nice climb, with a fast but slightly sketchy descent (surface wise) down the other side from what I can remember.

Entrys open for irish teams for 2 week window

2 weeks to go and everything almost in place. We're all looking forward to it and could do with this weather lasting but it is the ras and sure to be a filthy day somewhere along the line. I know of at least one boardsie signed up anyway.

The Boards weather guru (Mt Cranium) is predicting a breakdown of the current spell around 20/21st ( loose prediction at this time) .

Nearly there and of course the weather will be changing

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,163 ✭✭✭Bambaata

Nearly there alright! Looking forward to it again, can't beat the nervous excitement of trying to avoid crashes near the back, getting caught up in ones ahead and then trying to make time cut each day, a true Ras experience 😄

Best of luck for the week.

Will we see a grupetto diary posted here for the race?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,301 ✭✭✭Paddigol

Hoping to get up to Wolftrap for Saturday's stage. I'll just shout "Hup Bambaata" at everyone until somebody waves back 😁

It was great to see a town centre sprint finish in front of a large and enthusiastic crowd in Boyle today. It was a tricky lead-in with a roundabout, a chicane and a tight 90 degree corner before a short but steep uphill finish that included two speed bumps. Shoreman was clear and never getting caught with 150m to go. Young Niall McLoughlin had quite a day - one to watch.

McDunphy accusing second placed rider of deliberately running him off the road on instagram.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 126 ✭✭Johnners1878

He wasn't happy as he crossed the line - pointing and shouting at another rider in a big group gathered beyond the finish line - I couldn't tell who particularly he was accusing. A clubmate was down close to where the crash happened about 1km out and I've seen some inconclusive video - there was road furniture and the bunch split to go either side and as they come back together she thought the rider ahead of him braked and he got caught against the kerb. He definitely looked angry at the finish.

    I’ve heard both sides of the story;

    A. He was put into the barriers / curb

    B. He went for a gap that wasn’t there and the door got closed

I thought the comm might have given him the same time as the bunch considering the crash happened in the last km but as it stands he’s down 5 mins. Either way his race is probably over after leaving that much skin on the road

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,108 ✭✭✭✭dahat

I’d say it’s the 5min loss that is driving the anger as that’s his race over for another year. Didn’t he crash again in the early stages last year?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,421 ✭✭✭cletus

Anyone got an idea of the start time for the last stage in Kildare town?
